[otrs] Migrate Data and settings from Windows to Cent OS

2014-07-15 Thread Sujeeva Tissaarachchi
Hello Friends,

I have configured and tested OTRS 3.3.* with ITSM on windows server 2008. Is
there any documentation for migrating data and settings from windows to a new
installation under CentOS?

Re: [otrs] Migrate

2013-03-06 Thread David Boyes
Some steps I collected during our last upgrade; not definitive cookbook, but it
worked for us:

1) If possible (and you haven't done so already), move your OTRS server to
a virtual machine, preferably VMWare-based. Makes cloning in the future a lot
easier.

2) Build a new VM image, and install all the patches/OS stuff

3) Install the new version of OTRS on the new VM image and make sure it
has all the prereqs.

4) Schedule an outage of the old OTRS server, shut it down and take a
backup of the database.

5) Import the database backup into the new OTRS machine

6) Run the migration scripts on the new OTRS machine. Fix any errors and
note what you did.

7) Test and tweak the new OTRS machine to make sure any customizations you
did still work. Note what you did.

8) Schedule another outage of the old OTRS and take another database backup

9) Drop the test DB, and import the new backup to the new server

10) Run the migration scripts again, and use your notes from #6 to complete
the import.

11) Apply tweaks from #7

12) Swap IP addresses for old and new OTRS servers

13) Declare victory and march home.

In the future, you can take a snapshot of the running OTRS server and test the
upgrade from that snapshot. Steps 6 and 7 are really critical because you have
to do the steps twice. Take good notes (in fact, if you use the ITSM add on,
use the change request doc to note them, and you'll have good docs for the
local tweaks for next time).

Yes. Install 3.1.11 on the new server then upgrade in place.

Yep, like I commented it's easier to make a single line change to the
Defaults.pm file than to copy a whole array structure into Config.pm
and then risk losing "new" functionality when the array in Defaults.pm
is updated. I have a diff file which I use to reapply only the changes
I made.

In particular the option that I modified was to enable the Customer
Company functionality - adding UserCompanyID into the
$Self->{CustomerUser} => Map[] variable. Would be nice if this
functionality was just added into the code permanently, not sure why
it isn't in there with an option in SysConfig to simply enable/disable
it.

So in the /opt/otrs/Kernel/Config/Defaults.pm file you must have some
filesystem references from the Windows system. You will need to go

For what it's worth, Kernel/Config/Defaults.pm should *never* be

manually edited things in this as it's easier than trying to figure
out how to put part of an array into Kernel/Config.pm - just means you
have to watch out on upgrades incase your custom options get wiped

So I would probably grab a fresh copy of the Kernel/Config/Defaults.pm

Hi Steve,

I have done all steps talked in this thread but when run this two scripts see
he error:

file is needed by central system parts of OTRS, the system will not work
without this file.

this...

Yes, run those on the Linux side of things before you try to connect
to OTRS and it will ensure the config is OK and any old sessions are
removed from the database.

Do I have to run this two scripts on the linux side after finished all steps

That should not be needed because you already did that in the step above.

[otrs] Migrate OTRS from windows to linux.

2012-08-20 Thread Israel Garcia
Hello

First, I have searched a lot on how to make this but no success.

We want to migrate our lovely OTRS 3.0 from a windows server to a new CentOS 6
linux server. I have installed the same version of OTRS (3.0) on the linux side
as well as the same version of iTSM. Both servers has the same version of
OTRS's software.

I have made a dump of the database on the windows side to a sql file. But, not
sure if I have to:

- Drop database on the linux side and import the sql file from the windows
server.
- Overwrite this files in the linux server.

* Kernel/Config.pm
* Kernel/Config/GenericAgent.pm
* Kernel/Config/Files/ZZZAuto.pm
* var/*
- Export Setting on ADMIN/SysConfig TAB on the windows and imported on the
ADMIN/SysConfig TAB on the linux side.

Is it enough to make the migration?

Thanks much!

Israel.-

[otrs] Migrate database

2010-10-18 Thread Will Bradshaw
We are upgrading from OTRS 2.0.4 (Debian 4.0) to OTRS 2.4.7 (Ubuntu 10.04
Server). These are two completely different machines, but I need to migrate
my data from the old system to the new. What steps should I take to use the
backup.pl and restore.pl respectively. I understand that I will also need to
run a DBUpdate-to-2.4.pl.

Just to recap, here is my setup:

BOX1
OTRS 2.0.4 using mysql

BOX2
OTRS 2.4.7 using mysql

What do I need to do moving forward to get all of my existing data from BOX1
to BOX2 and convert the database to 2.4?

[otrs] Migrate old account to new account for customer

Hi all,
How can I migrate an old account to new account for customer ?

another account "xyz" . So I want to import/migrate his old tickets to new
account. Please guide me how to do this.
Furthermore ; It's so strange when I can't find his new account database on
Mysql server , I only find his old account stored at it. Where new database
stored at when using "scripts/tools/sync-ldap2db.pl" ? Although I see It uses
customer_user table, but actually I can't see new database on it.
Please help me to solve these problem.

[otrs] migrate OTRS installation to new linux install

2009-07-22 Thread Coert Waagmeester
Hello all,

Thanks for such an awesome product! OTRS is amazing!

We have a new server, and I would like to 'move' our current OTRS
installation to this new server.

It will be from Centos 5.3 32-bit to Centos 5.3 64-bit.

I figured it would come down to the following:

1. Install clean OTRS on new server with MySQL database.
2. Stop current OTRS server and make a MySQL DB backup.
3. Restore DB Backup on new server.
4. Copy entire /opt/otrs to new server.
5. Verify httpd(apache) configs
6. Start everything on new server

Is this a good way to do the migration? Or is there a better way?

Kind regards,
Coert Waagmeester

Re: [otrs] migrate otrs 2.0.1+ mysql to otrs 2.2.5 + oracle

2008-03-13 Thread Shawn Beasley

Hi Luick,

Greetings...

Suddenly... out of the blue... I become the nominated "special one" to
migrate my company's otrs.

I have otrs 2.0.1 up and running... and I intent to migrate to otrs
2.2.5 with oracle 11g DB (since it's a policy agreement for company's DB).

Since I'm new to otrs... I'm asking for some guidelines about it...

Should I firstly migrate otrs 2.0.1 to 2.2.5 (following this
http://lists.otrs.org/pipermail/otrs/2008-February/022074.html )...
and then migrate mysql to oracle?
Does anyone ever tried (successfully) to migrate mysql to oracle?
Should I just do a mysql dump use some application to import the
dump to oracle... and then run the otrs script
(DBUpdate-to-2.2.oracle.sql) for oracle?

I would upgrade, then dump, then migrate.

Here are some helpful tipps for things to backup before migrating:
(don't mind that they are other platforms)

http://faq.otrs.org/otrs/public.pl?Action=PublicFAQ&Subaction=Search&Submit=yes&QuickSearch=1&CategoryIDs=0&What=upgrade

Just look at the steps generically. :)

But, having said that, the jump your company wants to make brings so
many features with it, I must tell you: It would be advisable to get
consulting help from us. It would save you time, and your ROI for this
investment would be much better because you would not have to spend a
long time fiddeling with things to understand them and getting things to
work. Please request an offer from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Otherwise, there are
many people here that are more than happy to help you.

I wish you luck either way you decide.

((enjoy))

I've been test running the installation on a test server here at work

[otrs] Migrate from reqng to OTRS

2006-04-12 Thread Robert Lister

Hi folks,

I am possibly looking to migrate from our aged reqng based system (based on
old req, but hacked over the years) over to OTRS. reqng has served us well
for many years as a simple trouble ticket system, but we want to start doing
clever things, and I'm not sure continuing to work on a hacked version of
reqng is the way forward, given that the last time anybody did any work on
it was in about 2000. (It might well be, I'm just not yet entirely sold on
the idea as it would involve many hours of perl hackery.)

I would like to migrate all the old tickets from the reqng files in to OTRS,
because the current system is a very useful source of historic information
that I would not want to lose just because of a new ticket system.

Has anybody attempted to do similar migration before into OTRS.

I have another question relating to stats. Managers want pretty graphs. :-)

What I would like to be able to graph is response times to tickets in and
out of hours, for example number of tickets responded to within 30 minutes,
1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours etc, and number of customer tickets vs non-customer
tickets. (The current system has an in-house modification to work this out
from the e-mail address.)

If anybody has some insight into this, it would be most welcome :)

Regards,

Rob
