[otrs] OTRS installation problem with mod_perl

2014-04-24 Thread Robert Bunker
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Context:
OTRS 3.3.6 installation from source:
https://otrs.github.io/doc/manual/admin/3.3/en/html/manual-installation-of-otrs.html
Installing on an AWS server: Amazon Linux AMI (PV) 2014.03.1 - ami-fb8e9292
(64-bit)

Problem: "Perlrequire /opt/otrs/scripts/apache2-perl-startup.pl" is failing
when executing in /etc/httpd/conf.d/otrs.conf

Please note the line numbers referenced for some of the files may be off due to
some debugging code I had added.

I can start up httpd and actually run OTRS if I disable mod_perl usage by
altering the "" line in /etc/httpd/conf.d/otrs.conf to
look for a module that does not exist. Version logged when starting: [Thu Apr
24 13:45:41.531835 2014] [mpm_prefork:notice] [pid 2530] AH00163: Apache/2.4.9
(Amazon) mod_perl/2.0.7 Perl/v5.16.3 configured -- resuming normal operations

That was actually my initial install and I did not notice mod_perl wasn't being
used until after installing and noticing the CGI accelerator was not active in
the '/otrs/index.pl?Action=AdminServiceCenter' page. What I had to do was
reference the module correctly in the otrs.conf: "".
Once I did that I run into the problem I am describing now.

All instructions were adhered to and all prerequisites pass such as:
/opt/otrs/bin/otrs.CheckModules.pl
perl -cw /opt/otrs/bin/cgi-bin/index.pl
perl -cw /opt/otrs/bin/cgi-bin/customer.pl
perl -cw /opt/otrs/bin/otrs.PostMaster.pl

Does anyone have any advice or thoughts?

Here are the perl and httpd version info:

You need to have a user that can access the OTRS Db with “all privileges”, yes.
But the username is up to you … just provide it in Kernel/Config.pm

[otrs] OTRS Installation

2010-08-11 Thread Sebastien Bory
Dear user list

I want to manually install OTRS 2.4.7 on a windows server 2003 R2 with
Perl, IIS and MySQL.

I can install Perl module, I install MySQL and create the OTRS databases
with the script.

I have just a question:

I need to create an MySQL user "IUSR" with all access on the OTRS database,
or not necessary?

Best Regards

Sebastien Bory

Re: [otrs] Otrs installation for Mssqlserver2005

2009-05-20 Thread Michiel Beijen
Hi Ravi,
You won't need ActivePerl; you can run OTRS with Microsoft SQL Server on any
perl distribution, just as long as it is Perl 5.8 or 5.10. The major perl
distributions for win32 are Strawberry Perl and Activestate Perl.

To connect using ODBC you'd have to have DBD::ODBC module installed. You
should see no error message if you'd issue the following statement:

perl -e"use DBD::ODBC;"

To start with, is Active perl installation must for sqlserver to work for OTRS?
i don't have active perl installation in my system.

[otrs] OTRS installation on IIS?

2008-11-09 Thread Jie(Jack) Zhu
Hi Guys,

We have IIS server and running some other stuffs, it's impossible to us to
have another server which just running Apache.

I tried manually installing the OTRS on IIS server. I can install it with
install.pl and everything seemed ok no error reported.

But I just can't run it. Always get errors tell me module loading problem.

Does any one have the experience to implement OTRS on IIS? How to get it
work?

Thanks a lot!

[otrs] OTRS Installation on Debian Etch

2007-11-06 Thread Joel Roberts
Working on an initial installation of OTRS on Debian Etch, Apache was
working fine for other applications, but after the LDAP configuration,
it stopped working. Now when trying to start apache, I get the following
errors:

[warn] Useless use of AllowOverride in line 22.

failed!

In the apache error log, it reports the following:

[Tue Nov 06 15:34:49 2007] [error] syntax error at
/usr/share/otrs//Kernel/Confi

g.pm line 85, near "'AuthModule::LDAP::Host'}"\nCompilation failed in

tion aborted at /usr/share/otrs/scripts/apache2-perl-startup.pl line
27.\nCompil

ation failed in require at (eval 2) line 1.\n

I've checked and re-checked the line with the AuthModule::LDAP::Host, I
don't see anything unusual here. I've read a few posts about ORTS not
being Apache2 compliant and have made the recommended changes, but still
no luck. Anyone else had the same issue and resolved it?

Thanks in advance.

The documentation says I should be able to access it via

What mainstream yum repository? What OS are you using? 'rpm -ql otrs'

You should have a alias similar to this one in your httpd.conf.

  Alias /otrs-web/ "/usr/usr200/otrs/var/httpd/htdocs/"
  ScriptAlias /otrs/ "/usr/usr200/otrs/bin/cgi-bin/"

 Alias /otrs "/usr/usr200/otrs/bin/cgi-bin/"

[otrs] OTRS Installation:: Apache/mysql Performance

2006-04-04 Thread KartheeK
Hello All,

I have now been using OTRS for 8 months, our
installation has about 3,00,000 tickets. There are
about 3000 tickets created a day by 300 concurrent.
The total size of the database(mysql)is 2GB. At any
time there are atleast 5000 Open tickets in the
system.

As both the DB and concurrent users are increasing day
by day, I was wondering if I should tweak apache?? Any
Idea of what needs to be tweaked in Apache?
Anybody with a similar installation size?, please
share thoghts.
I have already done:
http://doc.otrs.org/2.0/en/html/c1615.html#performance-tuning-otrs-storage
Any further things I should do? Please guide me.

Regards
KartheeK

Hello all;

I have gone the incredibly simple process of installing OTRS on a Debian
box, and have now done the slightly more painful manual install from a
.tar.gz on a box running CentOS 4.

All went relatively smoothly minus a few PERL modules (LDAP & GD) which
are not manditory so I'll deal with that a later time.

The problem I'm getting is not being able to see the icons once I log
in. I received NO ERRORS during the installation. Everything appeared to
go smoothly.

Current errors from apache:

Getting many of these with "*.png". The permissions on the png's as well as all

[otrs] OTRS installation on Debian Woody

2003-02-06 Thread Eddie Urenda
Although the installation instructions for a Debian installation are not
that complicated, I noticed that there was no documented that pointed to
what packages need to be installed to meet OTRS dependencies (perl, gd,
etc.) So perhaps documenting our installation will help others trying to
install OTRS on Debian Woody systems.

I've documented our experience with the installation, and how it seemed to
work for us. I make no guarantees, other than following these steps got
our installation working with Apache-SSL as the web server, Postgresql as
the database, and Debian Woody as the operating system. It is based on
OTRS RC3.

NOTE: These instructions will only mark where installation for Debian
differs from the OTRS Manual section 1.2 "Using the tar.gz file to install
OTRS on any Linux/Unix platform" subsections 1.2.1 - Install, 1.2.2 -
Database, and 1.2.3- Webserver.

1.2.1. Install
--

1.

This Debian package listing is for an Apache-SSL, Postgresql, Perl, and
the appropriate Perl GD and DBI modules:

apache-common
apache-ssl
libapache-dbi-perl
libapache-mod-perl
libapache-request-perl
libapache-session-perl

libdigest-md5-perl
libmime-perl
libnet-dns-perl

postgresql
postgresql-client
postgresql-contrib
postgresql-dev

libgd-graph-perl
libgd-perl
libgd-text-perl
libgd-tools
libgd1
libgd2
libgd2-dev

cron
sendmail
procmail

iamerican // or your favorite ispell language dictionary
ispell // so that spell-checking works

After installing all of these packages "bin/otrs.checkModules" should
return OK for all modules (except DBD::mysql, but we aren't going to be
using MySQL, so this shouldn't be marked as required). The "perl -cw"
instructions for checking module installation did not work for me.

2. "usermod -G www-data otrs" - Apache runs as user/group www-data on
Debian

3. chown -R otrs.users /opt/otrs

5. changes to /etc/apache-ssl/httpd.conf (we are using mod_perl):

  Alias /otrs/ "/opt/otrs/bin/cgi-bin/"

SetHandler perl-script
PerlHandler Apache::Registry
Options ExecCGI
PerlSendHeader On

6. Database setup: Do not user installer.pl since we are not using MySQL

1. As user "postgres" issue a "creatuser -P otrs", say yes to allow
creation of other users and databases if you want otrs to be database
superuser (not required). Write down your selected password, you will
need to provide it when configuring Config.pm in 7.
2. Login as user "otrs", issue a "createdb otrs"
3. Load table schema definitions into otrs database:
"psql otrs < /opt/otrs/install/database/OpenTRS-schema.postgresql.sql"
4. Load initial test data into database:
"psql otrs < /opt/otrs/install/database/initial_insert.sql"
5. Change /etc/postgresql/pg_hba.conf and modify the following line to
allow local connections from user www-data:

host all 127.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 trust

7. Config file ($HOME/Kernel/Config.pm), make the following changes
(configure the database section with the appropriate password):

$Self->{SecureMode} = 1; # Since we are not using MySQL disable
#$Self->{DatabaseDSN}
="DBI:mysql:database=$Self->{Database};host=$Self->{DatabaseHost};";
$Self->{DatabaseDSN} = "DBI:Pg:dbname=$Self->{Database};";

8. File Permissions:

"/opt/otrs/bin/setPermissions.sh /opt/otrs otrs www-data users www-data"

1.2.2 - See Step 6 above
1.2.3 - See Step 5 above

11. Cronjobs for the OTRS user

Make sure you run "/opt/otrs/bin/Cron.sh start" as user otrs.
Comment out with a "#" in the crontab the section for fetchmail and
postmaster_pop3.

Uncomment the daily graphics cron so you can get a graph generated daily.

This is it! all messages directed to otrs@localhost should now be piped
into OTRS, so configure to your heart's content.
