Re: [ozmidwifery] Honey for infants
I also have a question along those lines... Have a friend who has a 4 month old, they are honey producers on a small scale, but are worried about the fact that their little one will soon be mobile and in contact with honey, and the equipment used to store and produce the final product. Is it only the ingestion of honey that's not recommended, or is she going to be at risk via an airborne contamination (potential) being in such close proximity to it before it is filtered and treated? Any honey experts out there? Tania -- This mailing list is sponsored by ACE Graphics. Visit http://www.acegraphics.com.au to subscribe or unsubscribe.

RE: [ozmidwifery] 10 years of Mackay Birth Centre
Sue, Marion, Rosie and Julie I read with interest your email regarding the celebration of Mackay Birth Centre's 10th Birthday. I work at a Birth Centre in Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, England which has just celebrated it's first year and shortly after, it's 500th birth. I hope our birth centre will still be going strong as your's obviously is. I only wish I could be there to share your celebrations, but it's a bit of a long journey. Maybe if our dreams of moving to Queensland in the next year come true then one day I will be able to visit (also have a cousin lives in Mackay, so I suppose I will need to pop in on him also). Anyway, well done and Happy Birthday. RE: [ozmidwifery] Honey for infants
I attended the Milk,Mammals and Marsupials conference last year and there was a session on infant botulism presented by L Potvin an IBCLE from Central Coast Health Paediatrics in Gosford NSW. There was nothing that this lady did not know about the disease having looked after a baby affected by it. She stated that honey can carry the Clostridium Botulinum spore and should not be given to infants under a year of age. She also included raw veges and corn syrup in her carriers list. If anyone at your workplace attended the conference they would have a transcript of her talk and I am sure she would be happy to talk to anyone if you contacted her. Two references listed were http://www.infantbot.org and http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/consumer/botulism.htm.. Hope this helps regards Julie. -Original Message- From: Tania Smallwood [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, 17 June 2004 16:18 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [ozmidwifery] Honey for infants I also have a question along those lines...
