If you would like to order a mini, interactive CDRom with all the
presentations of the HB conference, send $10 money order/cheque to The
Treasurer Sonia Fels, Australian Homebirth Conference, P.O.Box 2014,
Carlisle North, W.A. 6101 P.O.Box with all relevant details. We will not
be
producing a hard copy of the proceedings. Cheers, Mary Murphy

I absolutely loved the Homebirth Conference. Unfortunately I could only
attend the Saturday session, but it was enough, Ithink. My pregnant brain
cried at least 5 times, both happy tears and sad tears for the different
speakers and the slides/videos of home water births. I would love to order
a copy of the CD of the day with all of the info/references to present to my
collegues at work... Can someone tell me where online we can get it from?

Thanks, and thankyou to the organisers and speakers. Truly inspiring stuff.

Love Jo

Thank your for the feedback Jo.  We
know it wasn't perfect and had a few glitches at times, but we all had a good
time.  Trying to keep things low cost so people can afford to attend, also
places some restrictions on the outcome,  but as you say, it was energising
and motivating.  We ALL have to work hard to save community midwfery &
homebirth as it is teetering on the ege of extinction all over Australia.
Why is it so important when we have such wonderful hospital services?? it is
vital to be the standard for "NORMAL".  It has to be there for women's
choice and the future of woman centred birthing.  It is easy to choose C/S.
induction. chemical pain relief etc.as it is plentiful and available and
approved.  Try choosing a bath of warm water, dimmers on the lights and
privacy to birth undisturbed.  Not so easy to find outside of the home
environment.  Why is it so important to have undisturbed birth?  Read
some of Dr Sarah Buckley/Michel Odent's work.  Cheers, MM

[ozmidwifery] Homebirth Conference in WA

2004-11-01 Thread jo

Hi
all,

Have not long
returned home from the homebirth conference in WA and just wanted to acknowledge
those who made the conference such a wonderful, informative and enjoyable
w/e. It was just what I needed at a time where I was wondering what on earth I
was doing and came away feeling re-energised and refuelled to continue our fight
for safe, responsible, affordable homebirth.

Having been on the
organising committee 2 years ago for the Katoomba conference I know what is
involved and the toll it takes on us and our families to organise such an event
- so thankyou to all who made it possible for the national homebirth community
to gather and inspire one another to keep going.

It was also lovely
to finally put faces to names of so many from the west whom I have heard of
or had email contact with over the years.

I've returned home
feeling a new sense of appreciation for my family and all those who work
supporting women's choices - amazing how a homebirth conference can make you
feel all mushy about life!!!

THANKYOU AND
CONGRATULATIONS ON YET ANOTHER WONDERFUL CONFERENCE.
