I have been using this program for some time and am very happy with it.

Bobcat, you might try using the replay radio driver. It is reached in the
same way you access your usual sound card driver under volume, advanced
properties, or at least I think it is. Under my options I have the two or
three things listed most of which I can't recall and didn't recognize back
when I last looked. One was the replay radio driver which appearred under
properties for gboth the record and the play modes. I think it is
recommended onlyh if the recordings aren't working. You might try it and
see if it helps.

 Hi Cindy.

If you want to copy the CD completely, you'd do well to get a burning
program such as Nero. Even with a single drive, you'll still be able to
copy the CD as Nero will read the source CD, reject it when it's finished
reading and then ask you to load the blank.

If you want to rip a CD to your hard drive and then select some of the
tracks to compile a CD then you'd do well to check out CDEX which is a
free,
easy to use ripper. You could then use a burning program like Nero to
burn
 the resulting compilation.

 Regards.

Re: Nero 5.5 CD-burning problem

2004-07-10 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi David.

I've also experienced problems like this occasionally. You may wish to set
the use jitter correction control to Yes when you copy a CD. This may
help as often when copying from one CD drive to another, minor clocking
differences between the two drives can introduce jitter.

Also, check that you've got the ignore read errors set to No when you
burn as the CD will burn with errors such as you describe otherwise.

 Hi listers

With sighted help, I learned how to use Nero 5.5 to burn mp3 files

  three
CD's from these. At 4x speed, only 4 tracks were burned. Then,

burner at 1x speed, the first eleven tracks are burned (and played)
  great,
but each time the twelvth and last track is played, it's okay for a
few
seconds, then it gets comically crazy, like a space-age
merry-go-round.
  And
the CD player stays stuck on that track until I physically stop it
or
  switch
to another CD in my player.

There was an error message from nero at the end of each burn
session,
  and
I saved the burn log from the last session. It's 8 pages long and I
have
  no

I'd appreciate any help, thanks in advance!

available to download at www.acbradio.org.

I think whatever you're doing online its a good idea to install anti-virus

said that I'm fairly sure you won't get infected with a virus or find you've

Re: the Book Port

2004-07-10 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,
I would respectfully disagree with this. The Book Port was designed
specifically for people who are blind. It will play contracted grade 2
files and the transfer software is much more designed to work well giving
one audio feedback as transfers are happening. Both devices use the same
basic hardware with some differences in the keypad and the user interface.

Again, I put my vote in for the Book Port. The current public beta will
even allow one to speed-up audio files compressing them without changing
the pitch. It will play Audible files as well.

RE: the Book Port

2004-07-10 Thread Milton M. Ota
Allow me to answer two postings in one--

I believe that the firmware in the BookPort over the Book Courier will
support Daisy format 3.0 where the Book Courier currently was only
supporting Daisy format 2.2. Whether that makes any difference at this
time is not that important as there are not many books available in
Daisy 3.0.

The BookPort is a product of the American Printing House for the
Blind, Inc. information about the BookPort can be found at their
website at:

http://www.aph.org/

You can find a website on the Book courier at:

http://www.bookcourier.com/

And for all interested parties, go to the web of the American
Foundation for the Blind's Accessworld for July 2004 and read a
comparison report of the two devices we are talking about here.

While I totally agree with Mr. Carter about the book port, and I purchased
one at the very outset, I haven't heard of any upgrades. Can anyone tell me
whether there have been any?
