What do you mean? For computers? stand alone? Try Apex, if stand alone.
The answer to your other question is, yes they are backward compatible.

Moving forward in Winap

2004-07-24 Thread frank DeWeese
I was reading a book using Winap. I inadvertently stopped. When I began listening to
the book, it went back to the beginning. Therefore, how do you advance to another
section of a book using Winap? I hope this makes sense to some one.

2004-07-24 Thread Michael Killian
There are two ways to move forward in Winamp. You can use the right-arrow to
move forward about 5 seconds at a time. Or, press ctrl-J and type the time,
from the beginning, you wish to go if you know how far along you were.

more on DVD players, was: Re: Does DVD player come with CD player .

2004-07-24 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,
I am quite interested in purchasing a DVD player.
I was wondering, does anyone know much about DVD player/recorders? Are
there some that are easier to use than others?
And how exactly does a DVD player/recorder work? Is it menu driven?
I hope not, because I hate trying to memorize a bunch of menus.
I do understand that it's the DVD's themselves that have menus. But I
wasn't sure if some DVD players were like that as well.
I cant afford something really expensive, but I do want to know what's out
there. If I cant afford it right now, then I will be able to eventually.
Also, I've got a couple of questions about DVD's as well.
Is there any way to tell, before you buy a DVD, if the tracks are going to
be accessible?
And what I mean by this is, if you were to put the movie in, and you had
already seen some of it, would you be able to easily get to the parts you
hadn't seen. I hope this makes sense.
I didn't know if there were ways to tell such things or not. Like if there
is certain information on a DVD.
Also, if you don't own a wide screen tv, and you buy a DVD that states it's
a wide screen. Then is the picture going to look bad on your tv?
Not that this would normally matter, because I could personally care less as
to what type of picture it is. But I'd hate to have a movie like that, and
have people who are sighted, over to watch it. Then how it looked would
bother me, but only for the moment.
Well, I think that's all the questions I have for now.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.
Terri

Re: more on DVD players, was: Re: Does DVD player come with CD player .

2004-07-24 Thread Gary G. Schindler

Hi Teri, all DVD machines whether they are recorders or players are menu driven. as
far as a dvd being accessible, it depends on the individual dvd itself. first of all,
a dvd when placed in a machine brings up the menu screen. you press the play button
and hope that the dvd starts playing. you have to be able to go up, down, left and
right in order to access different things like the chapter, trailer and so forth. the
cheapest recorder I know of is about $190.00 or so. as far as wide screen, that is
solely an option that you select just like 5.1 surround sound for example. remember
too that not all dvd's recorded in a recorder will not play in all players.

Re: Moving forward in Winap

2004-07-24 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi, Frank, what you can do, is before stopping winamp, press control j
which is the jump to time dialog, and read with your mouse keys, and if
it says something like elapsed time 30:00, then the next time you start
winamp, it will start at the beginning, and you type control j, then
type 30:00, note the colon between the numbers, and press enter, and
you should be where you left off in the book.
