Re: zip files
Hi, Steve, yes, other than the fact that the one file has a .zip extencion, and you have to unzip it, they are identical. Re: a frustrating problem.
Hi, Jim, Have you checked Fs's Bulletin on this matter which can be found at: http://www.hj.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?xQC=306x " Bulletin Type: TSN Number: 13149 Date Posted: 09/25/2002 Product Name: JAWS for Windows Version: 4.5 Category: Sound Cards Short Description: On computers with multiple sound cards, if Automatically Start JAWS is set, JAWS uses the first installed sound card. Problem: If two separate sound cards are installed on the same computer, and if JAWS 4.02 or 4.50 is set to start automatically, JAWS uses the card that was INSTALLED first. This occurs even if you set the second sound card as the default device. For example, if you first installed a SB Audigy, then installed the SoundBlaster PCI as a second sound card. You set the SoundBlaster as your Default Device within Control Panel. when JAWS is started automatically, it still uses the first card, the Audigy. Solution: If you exit and then restart JAWS 4.x, it then uses the Default soundcard as set in Control Panel. A longer term solution would be to remove both sound cards and install the preferred card first, then the second card, then reinstall JAWS." Hi Folks: I am using a Delta 66 soundcard as well as the computer's onboard sound chip. When I boot the computer with JAWS set to load automatically at startup, JFW always loads up on the Delta 66 soundcard even though the onboard chip is set as the default soundcard. I have tried adding the Synth1 Port options in the JFW.ini file but had no success. As it stands, I have to unload and reload JAWS in order to load up on the internal sound chip. Is there some way to configure windows so that JAWS will allways load up on the default card? INTERNET RADIO
Hi Everyone Apologies if people have seen this message on another list. I sent it to the Access-UK list, with little luck. I have recently got broadband and am anxious to listen to all kinds of radio stations without the constant interruptions that used to occur when I had a phone line. I am using Windows 98 second edition on a PC with a 2 GHz processor and 256 Mb RAM. I have Realplayer, Winamp and Windows media Player installed. I use Window-Eyes 4 and JAWS 5.10. I appear to be able to listen to BBC stations with few problems, although recently i tried to listen to the cricket on the net and, although it tells me I am listening to it, I can hear no sound. If I try to listen to most other stations either it plays for a few seconds and locks up or Realplayer or Windows media Player fails and I see the message "Mainapplication Window". One strange thing: I use Window-eyes or JAWS 5.10. If I use Window-Eyes the station is more likely to run for a few seconds and lock up the PC, if I use JAWS I get the MainApplicationWindow message. Can anyone throw any light on this? Also, is it possible to use Winamp to play RealPlayer and windows media streams? Apologies for such a convoluted message, but any help would be appreciated. Fwd: Winamp For The Blind list details
*** BEGIN FORWARDED MESSAGE *** On 21/09/2004 at 9:15 PM Chris Skarstad <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hi all Dave Williams did a fantastic little series on Winamp 5, and he was nice enough to mention the list I run, it's called Winamp for the blind. Doubtless some of you are already on the list I know this for a fact, but for those of you who aren't I thought I would pass on the details. Back in May of this year, the list moved from Smartgroups, over to freelists.org, so obviously, the list address has changed. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a lot of feedback from smartgroups about moving the list, and a lot of people aparently got left in the lirch. It certainly wasn't my intention to do this, and I guess the list moving didn't get publicized a lot. In any case, the list has been running strong at Freelists.org since mid may, and things are going great. We had a website up for a while, but unfortunately, it's down until we can find a new provider for it, and that process is still being worked on, have no fear, we haven't forgotten it I promise. Ok, onto the details. To subscribe, send a blank e-mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put the word subscribe in the subject line. note that the word subscribe should be in all lower case and without quote marks around it. You should then receive a confirmation e-mail back, so replying to that*should* subscribe you to the list. A special note to Outlook and outlook express users... Some folks have reported to the list admins that they've had trouble subscribing, and in looking at the headers of the messages, we were able to determine that they were all using Outlook or Outlook express, and they all had the option to include the original message in the reply turned off. Still others had the option to show signature in the reply, and in both cases, this caused the Freelists mail server software to get really confused, so if you're using Outlook and outlook express, it is strongly advised that you turn off the feature that includes your signature in the reply and turn on the feature that includes the original message in the reply. If you do this, the server software will not play up and things should befine. We send a frequently asked questions FAQ file to the list once every month, and if you have a freelists account you can view this any time you like. We update the FAQ when necessary, so watch for a message when the FAQ gets posted. If you're first joining the list and you don't know thing 1 about Winamp, read this FAQ file first. It answers a whole lot of the newby questions all in one place and provides many resources for you to do more research. Winamp For The Blind is a fun list, but I'm going to be honest and very up front when I tell you that it isn't designed for the very beginning windows user, or someone who isn't very technically oriented. Winamp is fantastic and it does a lot of great stuff. it's great if you just want to listen to ACB Radio and other stations, but to harnis the full power of the application, you should most definitely be an intermediate to advanced windows user. Most people on the list understand this and a good lot of the people on the list are intermediate and advanced windows users, so again, if you're just beginning, you might like to learn as much as you can about the windows operating system as you can before joining. Your experience will certainly help you to understand some of the more complex concepts that Winamp has. If you've heard the review Dave did, you know that it has a lot of check boxes, list boxes and other things, but sometimes the way they are displayed can be a bit different and may be confusing if you're just learning how windows works. So some experience in windows is recommended, but most certainly not a requirement. Hope this information is helpful to some of you, and again I thought Dave did a fantastic job in his review about the media library. In almost an hour, he covered a whole lot of the stuff that we talk about on the list in a daily basis such as how to raise and lower Winamp's volume independent of software speech, how to increase the number of streams in the media library, and other stuff. So hopefully the archives will be brought bang up to date and when we get our website back up, we'll certainly link to both parts of the review. opening media player 10/how to get rid of the list
When opening media player 9 it just says "windows media player". When opening media player 10 it says "not selected icons, skins, visualizations, migrate," etc. There are 19 items and also you cannot make the alt t and o for options list work as long as this annoying list is there. Should something be configured in the player so I don't have to see this list upon opening the player? The alt t and o, as long as this list is around, does not bring you to the player page, etc. It takes you instead to "folder options" and "general page" as if in a properties menu.
