Hi All,

Do I need Total Recorder? And, if so, for what? I think I already have
over kill, but if thnere's something I need that all this won't give me,
please let me know.

Also, I would appreciate it if some one experienced with WinMx would contact
me off list. I have too many questions for the list.

You can contact me for either question at:

Hi, Shirley, you need to go into the record perameters dialog, and
change the radio button from software to on board sound, plug a mike
in, and start recording, and it should work then.

nero six express questions

2004-12-07 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi all, I believe I may have tried asking this question before, but got
no responses, so will try asking again. I just got a new sony cd
burner, which barely meets system requirements, but I have burned 4
cd's so far, but with nero express 6, not nero burning rom, because,
the burner came with nero express, when checking the check box that
says add to files, multi-session disk, if I want to add to a disk in
the future, how do I do it, so that the compilation won't just show the
disk size in terms of the new files that are added, and second, if I
make a label for the disk in the current recorder edit field, how do I
get that label not to be eraced? An example of these two questions
would be, let's say I have 500 megs on the disk, and, I am using some
old disks that only burn at 8x speed that I won a few years ago, and I
close nero express, and later, think of a file I want to add, when I
add the file, if, let's say the file is 11mb, when looking at the drive
for the cd rom, it will say, e cd rom disk, 11mb, though I know there
are more files than that on the disk, and it also says my disk, so, how
do I add to an existing disk without eracing the current label, and get
the current file size to show up on the disk? This, with nero express
6, window-eyes 4.5sp4, 192 megs of ram, and a 400 megs processor, and
thanks in advance for any help.

nero 5.5 questions for a friend

2004-12-07 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi all, a friend has some questions regarding nero 5.5, which I don't
have, but if anybody can help, it would greatly be appreciated.
If anyone is familiar with Nero (I have 5.5) I hope you can help. We
want
to burn mp3's of Terri's songs but when I go to CD rom ISO and try
adding
songs to the compilation there is no list of added songs. It just says
new new. Going to audio cd we can add tracks and check to make
sure
the added list is there. But all cd rom iso does is say new instead of
adding tracks by pressing control 1. Can someone help?

Re: Locating Inputs On My computer's Soundcard

2004-12-07 Thread Charles Addleman
Tom,
If your standing behind the computer, the speaker cords will be side by
side to the left of the roe. Next will be your mike jack. Next to that
will be the line in and then line out. The last jack to the rite is
digital out. This has been true on every computer I've had.

Hope this helps.

Re: nero 5.5 questions for a friend

2004-12-07 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi, Gary, but this is with nero 5.5, not with nero express, it seems
that I, and another window-eyes user seem to be the only ones using
nero express. I did find out that the reason why I could only see the
first file size, in the compilation window was because I hadn't
selected a file, but I still don't know how to make the label on the e
drive show the disk in terms of the total compilation. I wish there
were a way I could get nero 5.5, but there's no place to get it, and
pay for it.

Tom, I listed the jacks from left to right as they are if your standing

speaker cords and plug your headphones into the vacated jack.
Sorry if I wasn't clear.

help wanted with SF5 view

2004-12-07 Thread Bobcat
I think I messed up the way Sound Forge 5 is displayed on my system. This
probably will make my WindowEyes set files not work well now. I was trying
to get the level meters to display. I could see labels for the meters at
the top and when I right clicked I got a menu that allowed me to turn off
something. Now those labels are gone and I can't find where to click to
bring them back. I can't seem to find that menu any place. Short term
memory loss means I can't even tell you what was on that menu now.

This isn't the big level meter on the view menu but text meters that could
be activated. I was trying to figure out how to have them displayed all the
time. It seems they had to be turned on with each project or file that was
opened and they would disappear.

Any tips how to get my display back to normal with SF5?

Re: help wanted with SF5 view

2004-12-07 Thread Bobcat
I got things more or less back to normal after restarting SF. It was the
level ruler I had turned off.

The menu I messed with had these items: status, time ruler, time zoom,
overview, video, level ruler, level zoom, scroll bar, and data window only.

It's strange these things don't show up in the menus but have to be in a
context menu that means right clicking on an icon that seems to disappear.

I found two ways to display a text level meter in SF5. One is to choose
levels from the tool bar menu found both in the view menu and, the options
menu. This metter seems to be near the bottom.

The other is a big meter that has it's own window. It gets focus when
activated with alt-6. If another area is activated such as the data window
with alt0, the level window seems to sho up above the level ruler.
It is turned on with alt-6 if a file is open or alt-7 if not.
It can also be activated by choosing Play meters from the view menu.

Man... Sound Forge is so darn confusing. I know I'm confused.

The problem started when trying to get the Window Eyes set file for SF to
read the levels. Hotkeys have been defined but they don't work. Nothing
appears in the area that has been defined for the user windows set-up for
levels. I'm using the WindowEyes supplied set files for Sound Forge.

Does anybody here use Sibelius Scorch?

2004-12-07 Thread Michael Lang
Yesterday, I subscribed to Grove Muisic, a site, which offers several
fine music dictionaries. It is very accessible. However, to play musical
examples, one has to use the Sibelius Plugin, a little helper
application, with which notes can be displayed and which can also play the
examples. I've installed the plugin and made sure, that the sibelius
.dll file is in my Internet Explorer directory. But when I click on a
musical example, I hear nothing. Is there perhaps a player application,
which screen readers don't see and in which one has to press a play
button?

Grove Music can be reached via www.grovemusic.com.

Thanks

Michael,
This might be a little off topic, for this list; do you ever contact anyone
on the Midi Mag list? The Sibelius program is one developed by David Pinto,
of Dancing Dots, for use with, I believe, Cakewalk and JAWS, but I am not
all that sure of that. As I said, this is off topic, for the PC Audio list,
but you might want to contact Dancing dots, at dancingdots.com, for further
inquiries. Another person with Dancing Dots is Gordon Kent, who can be
found on the Midi Mag list Serve, as well as through Dancing Dots. I cannot
give you the Midi Mag list serve instructions, right away, but if you want
to write to me, off list, my address is: [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you
already have any of this info, then it is a moot point!
