More info on accessible features of iriver h340

2005-03-16 Thread Don Ball
I find that the remote from the ihp120 works with this player. They say it
is not compatible but it does work. some new functions. old record button
on remote sets repeat function. hold volume for one second puts you in to e
q mode. after the button is released continued presses will rotate the e q
settings. I wonder if you could load the old flash for the 100 series
players to get the old functions? I will not try it but I still wonder?

Joint stereo

2005-03-16 Thread Gary Petraccaro
I've just heard two samples of joint stereo where instruments move from spot
to spot making recordings unpleasant to hear. What programs use it and how
do you make sure they're not doing it? Sounds really bad.

I don't know if you have "Cool Edit" but changing speeds is real easy
with this program.

Re: Sound Forge Manual

2005-03-16 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi,
The folks at sony are quite friendly and helpful. I have called
them before and have been given access to an unprotected version of the
manual for 7.0. Give 'em a call and you shouldn't meet resistance.

Hi Folks,
I just downloaded a Sound Forge manual from:
http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/Step3.asp?URLID=1836&SerialNum=
Unfortunately, not only is it a PDF file, but it is fully protected both from
selecting all and or saving as a text file.
This to me is an accessibility issue and some one needs to tell them that they
really need to make it available in an alternative format.
If anyone has it converted already feel free to email to me direct all 284
pages
in text or word format.

Re: help with mp3 playing speed

A sound editing program will do that for you. Goldwave is quite affordable,
and if you could afford it, there's Soundforge. They use a pitch shift
feature that helps with this. I hope this helps.

SoundForge 8.0 and HotSpotClicker.

2005-03-16 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Folks:

HotSpotClicker is already coming in handy for the record dialog box. In the
Free scripts, JAWS no longer speaks the names of the Record-Record, play,
rewind, forward, stop, functions ETC. Neither will the CTRL-Number key
combinations work for these functions any longer. This may not be true in the
Snowman's scripts. With the HotSpotClicker, you can once again assign HotKeys
to those functions.

Cheers.

Tim, according to the review in AccessWatch, the IPod is supposed to have
the ability to play audio books at faster speeds, but the reviewer
couldn't make it work. Have you tried, and with any success? I'm still
looking for a way to speed books up without having recourse to expensive
devices made for the blind, though I may have to go that route eventually.

I don't know about the IBM, but IPODS can play MP3 WMA, and wave files,
as
well as Audible books. They're not that accessible for blind users. I
know
there is an alternative to Itunes, but still its not accessible. Access
World did a review of the Ipod.

I have two questions about I-pods. Does an I-pod take
CDs and compress them, or does it take them as they are. And, in that
case, can you put MP3s on there. Also, what will I pay for a good size
one and can it be used with an IBM? Thanks. Kurt
