Re: podcast
Hi Andrea, I'll try to answer your questions here. What actually is it (or are they)? I downloaded the Ipod thingie and actually managed to download some stuff. But I still don't know actually what I did!!! Is it something like listening to a show at your own leisure and not having to listen on line when the show is going to air? That's exactly what it is, and in a whole lot of cases, these shows are exclusively available as podcasts. It is possible that online shows can be Podcasted, but in a lot of cases these shows are exclusive to Podcasting. Are there any audio books that can be downloaded in this way? There sure are, although not very many. Check out the Podcast directories other folks have listed. Are there any old time radio feeds? There may be some, although I've never run across them. With Podcasting, you'd be more likely to find a podcast that is devoted to the discussion of a specific show or shows, rather than the shows themselves. A lot of these shows used to be in the public domain and I'm willing to bet a lot of them still are, but these companies who sell OTR are buying the rights to them, so if you wanted to podcast them, you'd probably have to pay some kind of fee, not sure how all that would go. But there is a radio section in the directory so you may find one. Hope this helps. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: RSS Reader?
An RSS reader allows you to get articles from your local paper or anything else you like to read in a handy place, where all you have to do is go to your reader, and find what you want to read. Re: podcast
Well, since the subject line says Podcast, I'm gonna focus on that and recommend aa good one to you guys. Check out, http://leoville.tv, for 2 podcast feeds done by Leo Laporte. Many of you probably remember him from his days on ZDTV, later to be renamed Tech TV, later to be re-renamed G4 Tech TV. He does a weekend show on KFI from Los Angeles, and one of his podcasts let's you hear all those shows. The other lets you hear all his other appearances on other stations. It's pretty cool. Re: podcast
Well, I have a great podcast to recommend. First off, I want to thank Chris for the recommendation he made, and for the other recommendations he made to me on another list. Any way, another great podcast that is tech related, can be found at www.geeknewscentral.com He gives a lot of good information. In fact, I've even joined his list. Check him out, I think he's doing a great job. Admin: podcast
Ok, folks, this thread is beginning to drift too far off topic. I'd prefer the entire discussion be moved to blindtech or another more appropriate list. It's only borderline on topic for pc-audio and recommendations of podcasts are definitely off topic. Please cease posting responses to this thread on the list. Please take the discussion to another list or to private email. RE: CDRWIN help please?
I generally select one at a time, but admittedly, it's been a while since I used CDRWin to make an audio cd. I usually just use it for data. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Shashi Gothivarekar Sent: Monday, April 11, 2005 3:27 AM To: PC-Audio List Subject: CDRWIN help please? Hello friends, I am trying to make an Audio Cd containing about 60 MP3 tracks on my hard disk in a certain folder, using CDRWIN. I got as far as finding the required folder on the hard drive and open it. It listed all the tracks correctly. I Then selected them all with ctrl A And pressed enter to load them. Unfortunately nothing got loaded as tabbing to the subsequent buttons revealed that there was nothing in the selected list. Could some expert please tell me what is happening and what I am supposed to do after selecting the desired tracks and indeed how to selecte all the tracks in a folder. Your kind help would be gratefully appreciated. I have Windows Xp Home edition and Window-Eyes V5. Many thanks in advance. Best regards. Shashi. Sunny Manchester U. K. Apology Regarding Podcasts
I just wanted to apologize for straying off topic. It makes sense that recommending specific podcasts, is beyond the scope of this list. Anyway, I just wanted to apologize, because I think I was one of the ones that started this thread. Re: CDEX max bitrate
The Maximum bit rate is 320 kbps. I think if you use vbr (variable bit rate), I heard that the floor, or minimum bit rate should be around 64 kpbs and the maximum should be 320. I hope this helps. Maybe others will have a different opinion. This is what I use when I have it set to vbr method. I believe I use abr, or average bit rate. Others may use something like cbr, or constant bit rate. I think maybe abr is supposed to be better. - Original Message - From: "stever2525" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. " Sent: Thursday, April 14, 2005 6:45 PM Subject: CDEX max bitrate In an earlier post, I said I understood CDEX's bit rate, but now I have a question. When I have ripped CDs, I had the minimum bitrate at 128, and everything came out at 128. I didn't notice there is a setting for the maximum bit rate. My question, what does setting the max bitrate do and what do I want to accomplish by setting this number? thank you ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
