Re: Questions about Jaws and the Edirol r09

2006-05-21 Thread Jerry Richer
Kathy you have to add that "Synth1Port" line from scratch. You have
the following three lines:

Synth1Name=eloq
Synth1LongName=Eloquence for JAWS
Synth1Driver=eloq

  Now add; the fourth line:

Synth1Port=MY SYNTH

"MY SYNTH" is the name of your audio device found in Control Panel,
Sounds and Audio Devices, Audio.

Re: External Sound Cards

2006-05-21 Thread Brian Olesen
HI,
What you can do is to get an spdif converter for your pc, typically just a
sound card with this feature.
Then you can have a physical amplifier and connect this to your pc. Then you
make your converting from digital to analog outside the computer and should
there by be able to reduce noise and such.

If you just mean weather or not there is a sound card with a very powerfull
output I don't think so.

Best regards

Hi their,

I will keep it short as I have a broken finger and I am finding it hard to

If you go to the Open file option and it will ask what type of file you want
to open their is an option something like get text from any file I do that
and it works.

If you register the program you will get an e-mail back with the

Hi,

I have downloaded the Italian mp3 program,

I like it! But I keep getting a nag screen asking me to register the
program!!

I tried to register it but when I do there seems to be a bit where you can
put in a code.

I have just tried to ignore that and register anyway as the software is free
Have I got that correct?

anyway when I register it just keeps coming up saying something in Italian I
must have stuffed the registration up somehow can someone help but it is a
very simple program and I like eloquence so I will use it all the best.

Blaze media pro

2006-05-21 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi.

I took a look at this program as it alluded to be a direct WMA editor. It is
very unuseable with JAWS and probably other screen readers and doesn't follow
windows standards for menu and tool bars.

Furthermore, I found the following in the FAQ's which I think states that it
works in the same way as other audio editors and converts to WAV before editing
and then saving back to WMA.

10. I am trying to use the audio editor, but it is not working properly. What
could be the problem?

Audio editor instability is caused by insufficient system resources. The audio
editor feature of Blaze Media Pro uses much more system resources than any
other element of the software. Audio data is processed in uncompressed form
until saved. Therefore, this can require considerable system resources,
especially
when dealing with longer duration files or recording for more than a few
minutes. Although, on most systems, 256 MB of RAM should be sufficient,
depending
on other hardware in the system, 512 MB or more may produce much better results.

Because this is beta software, I have noticed a slight sluggishness
when arrowing through a long list of titles. I think this is due to
the fact that MP 11 displays album art. I'm going to try turning
that off this afternoon and see if that helps. The sound quality
really is quite good, and it's worth taking some time to learn to use
the software.

I hope this has been helpful to you. If you have questions, you can

External Sound Cards

2006-05-21 Thread Andy Logue
Hi all.

My knowledge and experience of sound cards is limited to internal cards
which I have had on my last few computers. So please excuse this question
if it sounds a bit daft. Are there sound cards available which can replace
my 75 watt per channel hi-fi and 20 inch speakers? Or are sound cards
limited to a lower spec? I'm asking because I need to upgrade both my
computer and my hi-fi shortly and I was thinking of combining both, but only
if I can get really good quality high wattage sound. Any advise would be
very welcomed. Best wishes. Andy.

Hi Pam. Thanks for sending this! My Dad used to go to the hamventions in
Dayton for quite a while until he passed away. That means a lot to me for
you to send this. I went to the Dayton hamfest one year. Boy, there's
really a crowd of folks who usually go to those things. Some places, it's
almost like standing room only, but I sure had fun that year. I may have to

Re: Biblos text to MP3 software

2006-05-21 Thread R Q J
Hi Ann,
Yes, I downloaded the software and installed it.
I also downloaded and installed the scripts
You should be able to get the text reader to read the entire document, and
when you convert the text to mp3, when the file plays, it will play the
entire document.
I was able to change the sampling rate to 128, I believe this is in the
options found in the tools menu.

HI,

I got the Biblos software downloaded, but am wondering a few things. To
start with, can you get it to read a document from beginning to end, and
how? And, when making MP3's, can you set the sample rate along with the bit
rate of the files?

Also, has anyone managed to download his JFW scripts, at least I think
that's what the download link meant, for the software?

Take care.

on a french Windows, it's almost all translated in french.
beside the license agreement or something like that.

so I thought the program was completly multilingual in English

too bad then.

The page is in italian yes but if you listen carefully you can get an idea
where to download the programme.

Suppose it helps when you live in a country with eleven official
languages!!!

Biblos text to MP3 software

2006-05-21 Thread Ann

Take care.

~Ann

Shagum! There is a PDF R-1 manual on my web site at

I haven't read the whole thing but it seems to read OK with Adobe

Any portable speaker that you'd use with a computer should work OK with

Textaloud mp3 is my favorite choice too, but if you like the Eloquence voice
, try the Biblos software.

it's made by a blind italian.

Biblos actually use the Eloquence Engine we have with jfw (eci.dll) for the
synth to produce mp3 file.
as a result, Biblos can convert files to mp3 at a ultra fast speed, far more
quickly than any SAPI voice can do.

it can also process very very large file, and do not (as far as i know) use
temporary wav file to create the resulting mp3 files.

but again, if you don't like eloquence , it's not good for you.
Biblos is free. one can register it only to support the author's work, but
it's not mandatory.

http://www.digrande.it

btw. Biblos use the Eloquence engine of JFW, but jfw is still absolutly
usable while one convert files.

Hi Monica!
Thanks very much. It seems that it would be valid for .wma as well.
Anyway, I'll check the FAQ.
Thanks!
All the best!

Hi. I can say for sure that Total Recorder edits ogg files
directly. I don't know about how it edits wma files because I don't
use them very much. I use ogg files for almost everything these
days. I have recorded wma files with Total Recorder 6 though, and
the sound quality is very rich and clear. You might have a look at
the FAQ on the Total Recorder web site to find out how it processes
data for the wma files.
