Re[2]: Winamp Version 5.24 is now Available

2006-06-23 Thread Patrick Perdue
Hello Sarah,

On Friday, June 23, 2006, 12:29:22 AM, you bellowed the following:
Yep I have that problem to. I have to select all files and that takes away
from time I could be spending playing stuff.

There is a fix for this, but it doesn't seem to work for everyone.
It worked for me on multiple machines, though.

You can go into the wave input plugin and re-select all associations in
the plugin's configuration itself. I've found that doing it through the
file types tab works just fine for opening wav files from windows
explorer, but it still won't show up in the open file dialogue until you
configure the plugin properly.
It's really rather stupid, yes it is.

Try the double-screen option. This can be toggled on and off with ctrl-d.
Also, you can find it in the Options pull-down menu.

 hi all,
i've got a partially sighted friend who wants to try out the shoutcast
 radio
and all the other library stuff in winamp. the problem is she needs it to
 be
full screen. is there a way to do this in winamp?
the reason for this is that she wants to find some new artists. she's been
looking for a site where you can type in a band name and it'll bring up a
list of all the similar bands to have something new, but i haven't been
 able
to find anything like that. so if you can help with either of these, send
 me
 a message.

In Winamp, press alt-G to toggle the equalizer on an off. When it's toggled
on, press ctrl-tab to move between the main window, the equalizer window,
and any other Winamp windows you have open.

When you're in the equalizer window, the 1-0 keys increase the setting for
bands 1-10, respectively, and the q-p keys decrease the respective
settings. The ` and tab keys increase and decrease the preamp setting,
respectively.

what are RAR files and how to play them

none of my 3 players will play it. I did a Web search and it says you have

Re: what are RAR files and how to play them

2006-06-23 Thread Steve Pattison
A .RAR file isn't an audio file. It is a file that has been saved
using the .RAR compression format. One free program that you can use
to extract the files from the .RAR file is 7-ZIP available from
www.7-zip.org. If you are expecting an audio file it is likely that
you will be able to play the audio file once the file has been
extracted from the .RAR file.

You need a utility such as Powerzip.
Unzip downloads, create your own ZIP files and encrypt confidential
documents with PowerZip. You can use PowerZip's 128-bit and 256-bit AES
encryption to
create password-protected ZIP files to store confidential documents and
files or send them through insecure channels, such as e-mail. It is
integrated
into the Windows Explorer right click menu. It also supports 12 archive
formats including creating and unzipping ZIP, CAB, TAR, BZ2, GZ, ARJ and HA
archives,
and unzipping RAR, ACE, JAR, LZH and Z archives. You can automate routine
compression tasks by recording PowerZip Macro Files. You can also create
self-extracting
archives that can be unzipped without a compression program.

RE: what are RAR files and how to play them

2006-06-23 Thread André van Deventer
There's a very nice free programme called iceows which can compress and
decompress both rar and zip files and which is free and works well without
scripts.

Don't know the link for it though.

I downloaded something I wanted to hear but it says it's a RAR file, and
none of my 3 players will play it. I did a Web search and it says you have
to have some sort of extraction program to play these, but I was
unsuccessful trying to use the demo of one they suggested. Can these be
played at all or is there a workaround with Win Zip? If anyone knows how I
can get these to play I'd appreciate any help.

Re: winamp fullscreen?

2006-06-23 Thread Richard Claypool
I can't help with the fullscreen, but check out gnod global network of
dreams. if you type in a band, it will give you another band and you can
say like it don't like it never heard it and it will go from there and
learns as people play with it.

Subject: winamp fullscreen?

 hi all,
i've got a partially sighted friend who wants to try out the shoutcast
 radio
and all the other library stuff in winamp. the problem is she needs it to
 be
full screen. is there a way to do this in winamp?
the reason for this is that she wants to find some new artists. she's been
looking for a site where you can type in a band name and it'll bring up a
list of all the similar bands to have something new, but i haven't been
 able
to find anything like that. so if you can help with either of these, send
 me
 a message.
 thanks

Re: Winamp Version 5.24 is now Available

2006-06-23 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi. Well, if you want to get the latest and supposedly greatest
version of Winamp at all times, save the following page to your
favorites, or copy the internet address down in a place that you'll
remember later.

http://www.winamp.com/player/free.php
A note about the different versions.

Pro gives you faster burning and ripping of cds, but on my system it
didn't work all that well.
it costs $14.95.

The bundle gives you extra stuff that you probably don't want
anyways. The full gives you everything that Winamp has to offer
without all the silly extras. and the lite is very simple and doesn't
support some of the file types you may run across. so that's why i
always recommend the full version. you'll find links for each version
on the page when you go to it. Also, the only version you have to
pay for to get all the extras is pro. every other version of Winamp
is completely free.

Hope this helps.

Hi Steve, I'd be interested in your take on what Castblaster can do for
blind people that Station Playlist Studio in conjunction with a recording
package cannot.
