Nero and Roxio Working together

2006-07-19 Thread Jardata Mail Services
Hello List!

I have had Roxio's Easy CD-DVD Creator 6 and Easy Media Creator 7 on my system
for quite a while. Recently, I installed Nero 7. In the past with Nero, there
was always a separate installation program for INCD, but this time I saw none;
therefore, I am not sure if it installed InCD or not. Now I think Roxio uses
Direct X or some sort of packet writing program. Both programs seem to
record/burn CD/DVD's. Sometimes though, when I try to use my Windows Media
Edition PC to burn CD's with Roxio products, I get errors. Then when I tried
to burn an Audible file, I get the error of Audible can't determine which
burning method to use. What are they talking about?

If I was suppose to not install INCD, tell me what to do about removing it
without removing nero. I like using Nero and use to use Roxio and Nero on the
same machine. Has anything changed? Does Nero know not to install Incd when I
already have a roxio product there? It didn't ask and I certainly don't recall
ever seeing it or telling Nero to go ahead. What should I do?

Ripping Speed

My CD drive is rated at 52X. Still, when I rip CDs with Easy CD-DA
Extractor, even though I have the speed set to Maximum, I never seem to get
more than 9 to 12 X. Can anyone explain why this might be, and how I might
get better ripping speeds? Thanks.

Total Recorder and WVX file

2006-07-19 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
Okay. So I can sort of use Total Recorder to record the audio from this
file I'm trying to convert to a wav file. I have TR set up to have sound
play through it. But Windows Media Player likes to grab this file every
time I try to play and record it through TR, and I can't seem to get these
two programs to play well together. Does anyone know anything about these
WVX files, and do I have to use Windows Media Player to grab it and play it
in order for Total Recorder to play it? I hope this is making any sense at
all. Sure has my poor little pea brain spinning! Smile.

Dazed and Confused,
Kathy

Sound forge 8 and downloading presets

2006-07-19 Thread Lynn Schneider
Hi everyone. I am using SF8 and, while poking around on the Sony web
site, I found some presets that looked pretty interesting, so I
downloaded some of them. I have installed the Preset Manager, and
read the accompanying documentation, but I cannot figure out how to
import the .sfi files into Sound Forge. Any help in this regard
would be much appreciated. Also, does anyone know where else I can
download other presets? Since presets are the real power behind SF,
I'd like to have more of them to work with.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Do a google search for duplic8
This is an excellent duplicate finder; the only crawback is that the
author apparently isn't around or supporting the program, so you can't
register it, even though it asks each time you exit.

For renaming files, look for rname_it

Hi all. I hope this isn't off topic, but earlier, I received some
information on this list about Panasonic's liaison for accessibility,
Robert Wenner! But as of April 1, another person has taken over this
role. I'm forwarding a message that he sent to me, regarding DVD
recorders and DVR's, and accessibility! Gary,

I took over Panasonic's Accessibility Program from Robert Wegner effective
April 1, 2006. Regarding your inquiry Panasonic does not offer Tivo.
 Panasonic
does offer DVD recorders with TV Guide Electronic Program Guides (EPG)
for ease of programming similar to Tivo, but, without the monthly Tivo
 fee. Panasonic
also offers DVD recorders with or without hard drives. Cable DVRs can not
be connected to a Panasonic DVD recorder. All Panasonic DVD recorders
 allow simultaneous
record and play, however, you can only record one program at a time, since
only one TV tuner is included.

I hope I have answered all of your questions?

 If not please advise?

Hi there. I haven't contacted you in a while. I'm glad that Panasonic is
dedicated toward making things accessible for blind people. A friend of
 mine
 has a competitor's DVD recorder with a built-in harddrive. I believe it's
a Humax, out of Korea. It has the Tevo system built into it. It sounds
 like
that might be a good system, but I'm wondering if Panasonic has something
like this built into their DVD/DVR recorders. It sounds like a neat way
 for
folks to program their shows they want to record on their DVR, and copy
things to DVD! I know that some cable providers like Comcast have a DVR
 built
into their cable boxes, and I'm wondering if something like that could be
accessed with your product. I think that for some, they're able to
 program their
Tevo's through their computers. That would be great for a blind person
who uses a screenreader, if their screenreaders can read the messages that
 are
necessary to go to an edit field where they can program the shows they
want to watch. With your Panasonic DVD/DVR recorders, can a person record
 more
than one show at a time? This is something I'm asking about, just out of
curiosity. Thanks for your replies in the past, and hope to hear from you
 again
 soon!

Total Recorder 6.0 Accessability

2006-07-19 Thread David Allen
Hello list:

I've received a notice that Total Recorder Professional Edition 6.0 has now
been released.

I'm successfully using Total Recorder 5.3 for a number of tasks. But naturally,
there is no indication in the notice to suggest whether 6.0 would necessarily
be better in terms of accessability than 5.3. So I thought perhaps someone on
this list may have the benefit of some experience to offer.

I don't know why High Criteria just got around to the official

find it extremely stabile and accessible. However, I have not
attempted to use some of the newest scheduling features. I would

Multiple streams at the same time can't possibly be done unless you like to
play it back mixed together as I doubt there is any way to separate it. It
could be done with separate drivers but the thought of having to hear them

YOU wrote: ya have to choose
 'all
files! and ya have to do that everytime ya wanna open or add a .wav
 file!
So,I wrote this back to you, but it got lost: Never heard of Ray
 Johnson?
He was a little character, I believe on Laugh In, the comedy show, in
 the
sixties; he used to say: Well, ya can call me
Ray, ya can call me J, but ya doesn't have to call me Johnson! Just
 a
little bit of esoteric humor; probably before your time! He wore a
 Fedora
 hat
 and a Zoot Suit!
Sorry if I puzzled you, but, your use of the word ya spurred me on!

but there's a strange happening in winamp5.24. and that is, that when
 you
choose open file or add files to playlist, .wav is not available when
 you
have all supported types chosen under 'files of type. ya have to
 choose
 'all
files! and ya have to do that everytime ya wanna open or add a .wav
 file!
that's annoying! how can that be fixed? might i add that wave is
 indeed
 selected in file associations.

It's in the preferences dialog, control+p. The first option under
 general
 preference is file types.

 Hi Dave,

I am running TR 6 to record Skype calls and haven't noticed any
accessibility changes one way or the other, so I believe you should be
 safe
 installing and running it.

 Hello list:

I've received a notice that Total Recorder Professional Edition 6.0 has
 now been released.

I'm successfully using Total Recorder 5.3 for a number of tasks. But
naturally, there is no indication in the notice to suggest whether 6.0
would necessarily be better in terms of accessability than 5.3. So I
thought perhaps someone on this list may have the benefit of some
 experience to offer.

 Cheers,
 Dave

2006-07-19 Thread Darrell Shandrow
Hi Sunshine,

I set the Skype Sound Device options to Record Through Total Recorder and
Play Through Total Recorder, and checked the telephone option in TR. Try
that and let us know how it works for you. If not, I'll try to write up
something with greater detail.
