RE: accessible ipods

2006-12-13 Thread Chris Gilland
My word, if all you have is a Shuffle, then, yeah, perhaps anapod is the way
to go, but otherwise, Heck, I'd get Rockbox in a heart beat.

Can you get bigger ipods of that series?
That seems kind of small.

Hi Jed:

You asked:

> How many gigs does this ipod come with?
the second generation iPod shuffles typically come with one gig of flash
memory. which will give you about 250 songs give or take.

> So how does this software work, do you actually install it on the ipod
> itself or what?
You install Anapod explorer on your computer, and then you use the software
to transfer songs to your iPod via simple copy and paste operations just
like you would in windows explorer. It's very easy to use. The software
has a lot of other features much too numerous to mention here. the best
thing you can do is just visit the website and read up on what it can and
can't do. and that'll answer all the questions you have, and might answer a
few you didn't know you were going to ask.

Simulate stereo.

2006-12-13 Thread Anders Holmberg
HellO!
I have a song here which seem to be recorded in mono.
I want to do a stereo simulation on this song by duplicating and mixing the two
duplicated tracks together.
I am doing this in goldwave.
But it sounds mono anyway.
I have tried to apply the inside out effect but ti sounds not that good.
/Anders.

Yes Keith, you could do that. Go to Radio Shack and tell them you want
an adaptor with an eighth inch stereo phone plug on one end and two monaural
female jacks on the other end. It will probably cost $5.end

Can you get bigger ipods of that series?

Hi Jed:

You asked:

the second generation iPod shuffles typically come with one gig of flash
memory. which will give you about 250 songs give or take.

> itself or what?
You install Anapod explorer on your computer, and then you use the software
to transfer songs to your iPod via simple copy and paste operations just
like you would in windows explorer. It's very easy to use. The software
has a lot of other features much too numerous to mention here. the best
thing you can do is just visit the website and read up on what it can and
can't do. and that'll answer all the questions you have, and might answer a
few you didn't know you were going to ask.

So how does this software work, do you actually install it on the ipod

Hi Jed
I would definitely go for the second generation iPod shuffle, available for
around about $79, and definitely give Anapod Explorer,
http://www.redchairsoftware.com a look. It's only $20, and is way way better
than iTunes, because it actually works with your screenreader without
jumping through all kinds of hoops. Plus you won't have to put out a second
mortgage on your house to buy scripts to make it work for you .

Trekstor Geman/European MP3 device

2006-12-13 Thread petrakigianos-giasou
I recently heard a computer show about the German made Trekstor
mp3 player/recorder. It is now available in the USA. It comes in
8-12 GB and does not require any software. As usual you can use
it by copying and pasting the files to the device's drive letter
with My Computer area. Whether it's accessible: them menus I
doubt it. In Germany it has 30 percent market share. The unit
has line in. Suppourts mp3, WMA, WMA DRM, OGG. Yuo get 20 hours
playback. The battery can be bought from the company. I hear
Amazon sells it. Maybe Mike Lang knows a bit this one. Any info
is appreciated. Best to wait for the new Book Port for now. Petro

 Hi,

Make sure Goldwave is maximized before getting status info by
 pressing
 Insert + PGDN 3 keys

Make sure you have the right scripts for the right version of
 goldwave
installed and in the proper folders for the version of JAWS you are
 using.

BTW are you using Goldwave 5.xx or 4.26? There are different
 keyboard
 short
cuts for 4.26 and this could be your problem.

 That is
 a
JAWS status line command across all programs. I was trying to be

To be clear, the other numbers I mentioned refer to the number row

 the

 2. Clearly, the scripts I have loaded are designed for the
 partial and
 full
status line functions that I can't get them to work for. As I
 indicated,
insert-1 (number row 1) gets the relevant key combinations to
 speak these
 functions.

 3. Yes, you're right. I did have to turn on green play in the
 play tab.
It goes against a recommendation made in a tutorial, or my
 understanding
 of
it. I know the objective is to get green to play one part of a
 file and
yellow to play another, such as the selected portion. Now I
 need to
determine again which settings are ideal for green and yellow

With your correction to Real Plyaer, I don't think there is such a
setting. The recording/output controls are pretty minimal.

Is there a setting in nero to output a cd in one file instead of in

for the price Gold wave is a really nice audio editor, you don't really need

 1. by insert-3, I was referring to the numpad 3, or page down.
 That is
 a
JAWS status line command across all programs. I was trying to be
 concise.
To be clear, the other numbers I mentioned refer to the number row
 above
 the
 letter keys.

Now I need to
determine again which settings are ideal for green and yellow
 play in
 this
 tab.

I hope I have clarified the problems I'm having with Goldwave.

Re: O/T Logging onto computer problem

2006-12-13 Thread Keith Gillard
Hi,

If you recently installed the .net framework on your PC, which may have been
installed with another program, you may have auto created a .net user
account. This account will ask for a password on start-up. go to control
alt delete then control tab to the users tab to check this out. Note that
you may need to use the jaws cursor to locate this user account for some
reason. If you can delete the account this will solve your problem.

Hi Chris.

Yes, when I go into Documents and Settings, I've got the following:

Administrator.
All Users
Default User, and
Owner.

However, it gets a bit more complicated than that. Prior to going into
Documents and Settings, after I've clicked on Local Disk C, I've got the
following:

Documents and Settings.
Logue.
My Downloads.
Windows, and
Programmes.

Logue is my second name, so I'm not sure if the account I am using is Logue,
Owner or Default User.

However all the stuff in my Start Menu is only found within the
Administrator Account.

Does any of this make sense to you? I really should not have to Log On at
boot up if I am the only user and I don't think that I need all of these
accounts.

What do you think?

Best wishes.
Andy

Reminder Of List Rules

2006-12-13 Thread Tom
Ladies and gentlemen,

Please remember the purpose of the PC-Audio list and don't
post off topic messages. Below are the list rules from the
website and from the welcome message everyone receives when
they join the list.

Thank you,

Tom

List Guidelines

PC-audio is a list for the discussion of any PC audio related
topic such as PC audio software like sound editors, audio
players and audio formats; and hardware like sound cards, CD
and DVD devices and so on. While the subject matter is wide
ranging, this is not a forum for the discussion of
non-pc-audio matters. There are many other lists for
political or other discussions.

There are also some PC audio related topics which are
specifically excluded from the allowable topics. The
explicitly prohibited topics include:
* requests for songs or other audio files
* promotion of audio streams except for occasional
announcements of special events
* advertising audio products and service

Willfully posting an off-topic message is strictly
prohibited. While it may be considered that one or two
messages that are off topic can't hurt, if everyone on a
large list like this took that approach, we would quickly
descend into chaos. Asking for replies to be sent privately
makes no difference.

Some examples of off-topic messages include:
* Virus alerts
* Jokes and humor
* Advertising items for sale
* Test messages
* Non-audio software and hardware

Vulgar language, name calling and other types of flames are
strictly prohibited. Sometimes a message thread starts with a
clearly defined purpose, but as the discussion develops the
subject matter can change. If this happens, you should take
the initiative and change the subject line to better reflect
the subject matter of the thread.

Some people pay by time or volume when they use the Internet.
For this reason, please take care when quoting messages that
you're replying to. Ideally, keep just enough of the previous
message to remind subscribers about the message to which
you're replying, and no more. Otherwise, one quickly finds a
few lines of new text at the beginning of a message followed
by screen after screen of old messages.

If you believe that any of these rules are not being
followed, do not raise this as an issue on the list. Write to
the group owner to express your concern. If you raise these
matters on the group itself, it will generate considerable
off-topic traffic and bad feeling. There is only one
moderator. Please do not post messages asking that a thread
stop or accusing someone on the list of being off topic.

The moderator of the list has the right to remove or restrict
anyone from being able to post to the group as a result of
not adhering to the stated rules.

If you disagree with any of these rules, please unsubscribe
from the list.

Re: Basic goldwave Questions

2006-12-13 Thread Dane Trethowan
Taht sounds fair enough particularly on your first point, Sound
Studio does just as much as Sound Forge does for a fraction of the
price, around about a tenth I think and Total Recorder? Well, for
most people's editing and recording needs, its a steal, and its
available in various versions to suit the pocket.

On 13/12/2006, at 6:00 PM, Chris Gilland wrote:

I like it one cause it's more cost effective, and two,k it seems to do
everythiung that Sound forge ever could do.

2006-12-13 Thread Chris Gilland
Andy, I just saw that you were in the UK. Considerring that I am up, give
me the part of your number that would come after the 011 then 44 for the
country code, and I'll call you since with my business line I get very
reasonable international rates. Don't reply though to this mesage and give
your numbe as if you do, it'll go to the whole list.

E-mail me your number to:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Remember: I already know ab out putting 0 1 1 4 4, but then after that is
where i nweed to know. Remember we don't dial the trailing 0.

So, for example: if your numbwer was 0841422-3069, we'd dial all that
except the first 0.

2006-12-13 Thread Andy Logue

Andy

Do you have any more user accounts on your system aside from Owner?

Logging onto computer problem

2006-12-13 Thread Andy Logue
Hi all.

Since my computer returned from the hospital, I am presented with an option
to Log On to Owner or Turn Off Computer at boot up.

Can anyone please advise me how to get it to go straight to the desk-top
please.

Best wishes.
