Re: Petros Podcasts 1 & 2 Information
Thanks, Chris, but, there have been a number of posts, on these subjects, that have come from Petro, over the past month or two. I don't want to belabor the point, so I think it would be sufficient to say that there may be some redundancy, that could make learning the guts of Replay and some of the other stuff, very confusing, if one has archived some of the posts, from him, as I did; maybe I should have written him privately, so as not to convey further confusion!! Petro, To my knowledge, you have posted a number of times on this subject and it is getting a little confusing, as to "which posts to use", in getting the information, that you are trying to provide! What I am saying is, it seems that if I were to go back over the chronology of posts, then I would get "really lost", in trying to compile a coherent path, to learning what you are attempting to get across, in tutorial material; does this point make sense, to you? Also, what works is an external sound card. We have 2. external sound cards from "Sound Blaster; they work really well. Especially for a lap-top computer. Hi Jeff Yep, I'll have to experiment a bit. RE: Sounforge jaws scripts
The freedom scientific scripts were for a very old version of SF and an earlier version of Jaws. I would go with Jim's scripts. The version 5 scripts are compiled differently. I've been looking online at the Snowman's scripts for SoundForge. I have jaws 5 on my computer. I'm aware it has some scripts for soundforge that came from freedom scientific. I'd like to know if they are the same ones that the snowman made? Did he make them for freedom scientific? Or are they better? I have real problems when running those freedom scientific scripts; it makes soundforge unusable and I end up having to reboot. It's ok for a while, but then windows error noises kick in and eventually jaws unloads itself. Also. I want to buy the soundforge scripts for soundforge 4.5 for jaws 5 because I have some urgent editing work to do. How does it work? Will i get them immediately from the snowman in an automated way? Re: Sounforge jaws scripts
are you using a single channel sound card? if so that might count for the studdering/ and the break up and stopping of the recording process. if you want to try a different aproach, do the following, 1. do insert f 2 and choos configuration mannager 2. after you enter on the config do control shift d 3. do alt s and then down arrow to synthizer and press enter tab over to the check box that says allow wave files with software speech and make sure it is checked. tab over to ok and press enter 4. now either do alt f 4 and say yes to save the changes or do control s and that also should save the changes let us know if this works for you. - Original Message - From: "Damon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: splitting long shows into smaller files using Replay A/V 8.04
Hi, Chris, All I can offer to you is to say you correctly described the way of having a recording automatically split every 60 minutes. I have used the same settings to split a 3-hour recording I do daily into 3 60 minute files. In the Split tab I have nothing else checked nor entered with data. I suggest you do some experimenting with short splits of a minute or 2 so you can do some immediate verification, until you can have it working. sound card question
Can anyone tell me if there are still any sound cards made that have both a line and Mick jack? Turtle beach made the montego II card in 2000 that did and its a great card but it doesn't have drivers for xp. My new pc has a good sound blaster card but it shares Mick and line on the same jack. When I use a y cable to make it possible to have Mick and turntable hooked up at the same time it combines both left and right channels for the line and I lose stereo. Is there any way around this without buying a new card? Thanks, Joe. splitting long shows into smaller files using Replay A/V 8.04
Hi folks Subject line basically says what I'd like to do. I record several radio shows that are about 3 to 4 hours in length, and so I figured I would try to figure out a way to split the mp3s of the shows I record into smaller files, 1 hour in length each. It just makes it easier to navigate a long show like that. Ok, so I went into the ssplitting tab of the preferences, and if you use your screenreader's review cursor, there are several different fields you can fill in, depending on when you want the file to split. So first I checked the box that says, split tracks every, followed by a value of 60, thinking that it would split the file into 4 smaller ones, one for each hour of the show. I left the other fields alone because they just determine other times a ffile can be split, so I left those alone. Well, as you can probably guess, it didn't work for whatever reason. I got absolutely no recording when I did this, and I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong? unfortunately, the fields in that particular dialogue aren't very easily read when you press your tab key at least with JAWS 8.0 they aren't. When you press your tab key, you hear, split tracks at edit, split tracks at edit, split tracks at edit...it's really confusing. To make sure i'm absolutely clear here, let's say I'm recording a show that lasts 4 hours long. What I'd like to do is to split the recording of this show into 4 smaller files, 1 hour each. i know other programs can do this task as well, but when I record a show, I would like for replay A/V to do it automatically. i don't want to have to record the show and then load this big file into sound forge and then split it up. I know Replay A/V can do it, I just need to work out how to do it exactly. So if anyone can help that'd be wonderful. Thanks. RealPalyer Help?
Greetings everyone, I just subscribed to this list, on the recommendation of a friend, and I have a question that I'm hoping that someone can help me with! I am subscribed to Rhapsody, which I like very well, however, if I purchase music and want to burn it onto CD, I have an awful time getting that done. As far as I can tell, using Rhapsody's "my library" and CD burning service is completely inaccessible. The alternative is to use RealPalyer, however, I find that to be very cumbersome! I can tab around the screen just fine, but the buttons I come to, such as "burn to CD", are not really the correct button, since if I press spacebar to activate the button, soemthing completely different happens toher than what I'd wanted. And if I try ti use the Jaws curosor (I'm a Jaws user), to get to the button, that won't help either as the Control left or right arrow combination that I normally use to move around the screen with the Jaws cursor won't work int he case of RealPlayer. This, I have to go space by space with the left and right arrow keys and most of the time, I can't get the Jaws cursor ont he correct button to click on what I want! Thus, it takes an inordinate amount of time to burn a CD when it really should be just a short process of selecting tracks, clicking add to CD and then going to the burn / transfer window to click on the "burn your CD" button. It would be nice if I could use soemthing like Winamp or something more accessible. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm also subscribed to Napster. Is Napster more accessible, or can you use Windows Media player for CD burning either with Napster or Rhapsody tracks? Any help regarding this would be very much appreciated! SoundForge screws up my JAWS and PC (was: Sounforge jaws scripts
this is part 2 of my earlier plea. If anyone can help me out that'd be much appreciated. This afternoon, I'm discovering that my SoundForge problem isn't script related after all - so ignore my earlier questions about scripts they're irrelevant. I've deleted the original FS scripts yet the system problems remain. When editing, from time to time, the audio stumbles, a Windows Ding sound occurs and manipulating the file becomes a very very slow process because the computer doesn't seem to be able to deal with it properly. I've had this problem a few years now ... and just struggled through it with no one really able to tell me what might be going on. It seems that the audio starts to stutter and be badly handleable especially after I've done some edits. Also, when recording, jumps occur - or rather the recording appears to stop and start so that when you playback there are 2 second jumps in the audio every minute or so. I've no idea what's going on. I've got such a lot of editing work to do this weekend I'm tearing my hair out. I had thought the solution might be to gget new scripts from the snowman but it seems now these problems are definitely within my computer and nothing to do with the scripts I've been running. Once again, this afternoon, the ding appears again and again then jaws eventually unloads itself after a lot of stuttering in the audio playback. But once jaws is turned off entirely, scripts or no scripts, the soundforge software seems to work pretty well. So I'm having a clash between jaws and soundforge. Could this be a memory issue? If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate them. Are there some settings I could alter in soundforge regarding memory perhaps? Or in my system? ...Damon Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Sounforge jaws scripts
The FreedonScientific scripts are for SoundForge version 4.5. The Snowbarger scripts work with all other versions of the program. Make sure you are using the correct version for the proper SF build. I use the Snowbarger scripts at home and at the office and they work extremely well. I'm surprised that you are having difficulty. Sounforge jaws scripts
Hi. Or will i have to wait a few days? thanks Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
