mad plugin
Hi again.A Few months ago someone mentioned the mad plugin for winamp. I installed it but I can't notice any difference in audio. Its in the input plugin section of my winamp. Is that the proper place for it? If its for playback, I would think it would be in output. Can anyone give me an example of what this does, and how to use it? Thanks, Joe. Best mp3 file sharing program with JFW
Hi all, Currently, what's the best file sharing program that works reasonably well with JFW 8.0 and a cable connection? I've used kaza lite in the past, but recently when I tried to use it I could never get it to download anything. BTW in Napster's hay day I really liked that interface. Auto splitting files. Goldwave?
Seems I've heard you can use a feature within Goldwave to automatically split a audio file into several smaller files based on a certain length of silence within the file. I have several audio cassettes where all of one side is one long mp3 file. I want to split this file into individual songs without having to manually search for the silences. Can't I do this with goldwave? Thanks, Jason Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

only thing I don't like about gold wave is having to mark everything for editing, and also taking out certain words is kind of tuff with the marking feature in gold wave. 73 hank smith amateur radio call sign: KE7IEF echo link node: 301027 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] msn messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] aim: hanksmith5 skype: hanksmith5 - Original Message - From: "David Tanner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Most accessible sound editor?
Personal opinion: I would say that they are both pretty accessible, but there is a difference of magnitude in what the two will do. One is great for personal use, but would never make it as a sound editor for a professional autio editor. It's a little difficult to access features that don't exist!!! For example, there is a huge difference between an equalizer with 6 bands and one with 20 bands. On the other hand, if you can do what you need to do with Goldwave then I see no sense in paying for JFW scripts, and a sound editor that will cost 6 times more than Goldwave. - Original Message - From: "Gary Petraccaro" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. RE: Another Gold Wave question
The following key strokes come right out of appendix b of the goldwave 5.18 manual: Shift+HomeMoves the start marker to the beginning of the sound. Shift+EndMoves the start marker to the finish marker's position. Ctrl+Shift+HomeMoves the finish marker to the start marker's position. Ctrl+Shift+EndMoves the finish marker to the end of the sound. So I think you might want control shift end, then shift end. Hi Marsha Try sending a blank e-mail message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] notice the dash followed by request in the address. In the subject line, put the word subscribe and send your message. Re: DC6, was, Audacity anyone?
For audio editing I used GoldWave. I always have and have seen no reason to change. However with vinyl and cassette restoration I prefer DC6. The 2 programs together give me everything I need without a bunch of extras that I have no interest in using. In the end, it's really pretty much a matter of personal preference. Under EZ Clean, there are several choices for removing tape hiss. I generally try the setting labeled aggressive first. If that adds distortion I back it off to the "average setting. If neither does what I want then I get into noise reduction. Often though, the EZ clean settings work just fine, and you can always create your own filter modifications just as in GoldWave and probably Sound Forge. I can't speak to reducing FM noise. I've never tried it. Larry - Original Message - From: "hank smith" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. I haven't used Adobe since back in the days when it was Cool Edit and I really didn't use it much as I was battling with both a lack of knowledge and a program that wasn't fully accessible. I agree though, DC6 is great with restoration which is it's main purpose. I also use it for line in recoring. That aspect of the program works very well. Larry - Original Message - From: "G. Re[2]: Most accessible sound editor?
Hi all, Many thanks for your comments. I personally prefer SoundForge since I find it faster to edit big files. I have tried out the demo of Goldwave but I couldn't do things as fast as in SoundForge. I have also tried out Audacity but didn't figure out how to use it. Re: Most accessible sound editor?
Bruce, don't know but I think it's the keyboard commands are like those of a word processor. You can go through the sound file by using the page up and down keys, by small amounts with the left and right arrow, scrub easily, things like that. The page up and down is a big thing for me since I use it a lot doing editing of very big files. I can hit space bar play, and page up or down and hear the audio advance very quickly. The only way I know to do that in Goldwave is to hit the fast forward function key which for a big file isn't really fast enough for me. I do not use SF for recording, just editing. I use SF6 haven't upgraded. - Original Message - From: "Bruce Toews" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Audacity anyone?
Hello! I really do like it. However there are things that must be better. FOr example the timer feature in the newest version. It does not work here for me at all. /Anders. - Original Message - From: "Kathy Szinnyey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: winamp ok
hi. never even heard of the dashboard. don't even have a clue what it is. but yes, apart from the media library stuff, all the major functions work fine, if you remember to install it with the classic skin. If you do that, you'll be fine. Yep, I figured it was the stream. sometimes with a radio station with many different broadcasters in different places, you can get some very interesting results at times. if one of the guys streaming has trouble sending the broadcast to the server, you get skippy skippy radio!
