The preamp of the R-09 is a bit noisy. To get rid of the hiss, one has
to use a good quiet external preamp or a loud microphone. the Sound
Professionals have one especially made for the R-09.

Hi Allen,

there's a jaws guide to windows media player 11 at:

Although it's written for Jaws users, most of it is

Bluetooth headphones with PC revisited

2007-05-16 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
Hi, All! I thought I'd repost my question in case some other folks might be
reading the list. This thing is really bugging me! Smile. Any help would
be much appreciated!
Okay, I give up! How do I play music through my bluetooth headphones
without using the little transmitter? My bluetooth headphones and computer
are supposedly seeing each other, but I can't seem to hear music through the
headphones, just the speaker. What setting am I missing? I'm thinking
about getting into Skype and have been told that if I use the little
transmitter that comes with the headphones, I can't do Skype. This
headphone is supposed to have a little mike with it. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!

Sound Forge, normalizing and Volume

2007-05-16 Thread Tony Swartz
Apparently I don't understand the purpose of normalizing. I was under the
impression that by using normalize under the processing menu in Sound Forge,
one could average out the volume of a selected portion or an entire file.
I've made a recording first speaking softly then raising my voice then
lowering it again. I then experimented with a number of normalize controls
but can't determine how to make the recording's volume to even out. All I
manage to do is increase the overall volume of the recording.

Frankly, I'm not sure that a question such as this should be discussed on
this list, but if not, is there a more appropriate list to which this
question should be addressed?

Thanks,

Re: Sound Forge, normalizing and Volume

2007-05-16 Thread Matthew Bullis
Hello, if you want to use the normalization feature in SF, you would select
those parts which are lower than the rest, and normalize those one by one. I
should add a statement that the noise will spike up louder and drop lower,
and will not be smooth between transitions. If you ever are dealing with
live concert material, never normalize talking portions or bring down
applause. Always normalize the whole show as one piece. This list has a lot
of Sound Forge users on it, and there is a Sound Forge yahoogroup, though it
doesn't get much traffic, but you could join if you like, so as not to miss
anything.
Thanks a lot.

RSN To MP3

2007-05-16 Thread Dj Paddy
Hi all.

I've got a shed load of oridginal Nintendo and Sega game cartridge
soundtrack rips. From NES, SNES, Sega Master System.

I want to convert these to mp3. I can play them back fine in Windows with a
Winamp plugin. It would be very cool and geeky to be able to play them on
my mp3 player though.

Any thoughts as to what bit rate you'd use for something like this?

Winamp converts them fine, I just need advice on the bit rate that would be
best suited.

Thanks,

Re: Sound Forge, normalizing and Volume

2007-05-16 Thread Bruce Toews
One of the nice things about Gold Wave is that there's a GWAmp plugin for
it that lets you use Winamp effects plugins. So you can get a
compressor/limiter for Winamp, configure it just the way you like it, and
then get Gold Wave to process your file through it.
