skype with pamela

2007-06-13 Thread Roger R. Cusson
has anyone ever seen or used the pamela interface program with skype?

i want to know what people are using out there for making such good voice
recordings on skype for these podcasts and main menu programs that i keep
hearing on the air.

what recording software is being used out there to get such good audio
quality

can a blind person successfully use pamela which is like the old sam
answering machine for skype that i use but the audio quality of the voice
recordings is grainy at best using sam

what is the pamela interface like in terms of so called accessibility for
screen readers and such?

has anyone used pamela and has the recorded voice conversations been of a
suitable quality for podcasting interviews and such

any help with this would be appreciated

Help To Keep PC-Audio Off ---- Lists

2007-06-13 Thread Tom
Some ISPs are using rather aggressive filtering and
pc-audio.org has been put on some spam lists. Apparently
there are many ways the software determines what's spam and
what isn't. One method used is if a message has more than a
few recipients the sending address automatically is listed as
a spam address. The pc-audio list bounces messages that have
more than five recipients but even when this bounce occurs,
it seems like the sending domain or IP address goes on a spam
list anyway.

I'd like to ask that when you send a message to the pc-audio
list that you do not put more than a couple e-mail addresses
in the TO CC or the BCC fields.

I'm sure this is inconvenient for those of you who post
announcements to several e-mail lists and I hope you won't
stop posting them to the list. However, once a domain or IP
address is on a spam list it is a lot more inconvenient for
me to try getting it removed.

If anyone has any suggestions on helping to prevent people
from getting blocked from the list please let me know.

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Battery life of the zen stone

2007-06-13 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Alison.

That's exactly how I shut down the stone, hold the play/pause button
depressed until the music stops, and I've had no problems with battery life.

Is your player running down or are you using the creative software to
determine charge left? Also, how long are you charging for? I tend to
leave hooked up to the usb. for a couple of hours. I guess the only other
question is whether there's some problem with the usb you're using, tried
another?

 Hi all!
I don't feel as though I'm getting the full ten hours of battery life out
 of
my zen stone. I just got it on Thursday, and since initially chaarging it
after it's arrival, I've had to charge it two more times. I wonder whether
or not I'm doing something wrong when I turn it off. When turning off my
shuffle, I always paused playback and slid the switch to the off position.
With the zen stone, I simply hold down the play button until it appears to
power down. I don't pause playyback first. Could this keep it from
 shutting
down entirely, and therefore, be the cause of my rapidly draining battery?
 Thanks!
 Allison

I loaded the fifth Harry Potter book onto my Zen stone, and turned it on,

sequential order. I know I don't have the player set to shuffle mode, and
I'm wondering what could be wrong. I checked the folder on the Zen stone,

 Hi Allison

I have an mp3 player (not the zen stone) which has this problem if the
file names are not unique within the first 8 characters, so if the
file names are long with author+title+track number
then it would play out of order. When I put the track number at the
beginning of the file name it worked ok. The files displayed in the
right order when looking at them in Windows because Windows has no
problems with long file names. This may be worth trying.

Also I read a review of the Zen Stone which said that it does not
always resume play from where you stopped. This is a bug which occurs
fairly frequently and would by annoying for audiobooks, has anyone had
this problem with the Zen stone.
