converting with windows Media Player?
I've looked everywhere and can't find a tab to convert from one format to another but I'm fairly certain it can be done. I see, rip, burn, play and library tabs but no ability to convert. Soundforge and reducing hiss, static, etc.
I'm using soundforge 6.0, I think it is, the cheap version. I know I can't elminate all hiss or some static I've found in a couple recordings I've done, but is there anything I can do to cut that noise down? Also, I'd like to upgrade but I think I don't know where to find our serial number. Can anyone help? As always, I'm much obliged! Re: Soundforge and reducing hiss, static, etc.
Hi Kathy, Regarding the removal of hiss, you can try different equaliser settings and the various noise reduction options, but it is difficult to reduce hiss without losing some of the sound quality. Regarding your serial number, if you go to Help and About Sound Forge, it is shown there. You Tube videos
Got this tip from a mailing list I am subscribed and thought some of you might like this too. I should be able to use Applian's Media Catcher to capture all the videos much more quickly via youtube.com playlist feature. YouTube QuickLists If you've ever used the video Web site of YouTube, you know it has millions of videos for you to see! YouTube does a great job of making these videos visible to you. For example, if you go to view a video about the new Apple iPhone, to the right of the video, you will see other videos uploaded by that user, along with more videos related to the iPhone. http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick1. jpg For certain videos, you may find several others you're interested in and you may want to watch them. In that case, you'll want to create a quick playlist of those videos so that you don't lose them. Well, YouTube includes a feature that allows you to do just that. It's called QuickLists and let me tell you, it's awesome! QuickLists has been around for quite awhile, but it's possible that you haven't noticed it yet. After today, you will know exactly what to look for. I'm going to show you how to work with it and use it to your advantage. Let's get started! 1.) Go ahead and surf to YouTube (youtube.com http://youtube. com/ ). 2.) Once you're there, search for a favorite video or just click on any video on the homepage. 3.) You will see the Related Videos and More From: sections (for a certain user) that we discussed earlier. If you look closely, you will see a little plus sign ( http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick2. jpg ) in the bottom right corner of each video thumbnail. http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick3. jpg 4.) Clicking on that will automatically add it to a QuickList for you. Go ahead and try adding a couple videos to a QuickList. They will appear right above the Related Videos section. You will see the QuickList icon in your search results as well. 5.) Next, click the Play All link to have the videos automatically play in order. http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick4. jpg After you've watched all of your QuickList videos, you can then clear them away by clicking on the Clear link. Or, if you have a YouTube account, you can save them into a permanent playlist by clicking the Save link. QuickLists are an easy way to make your YouTube experience a whole lot more fun. Enjoy! the worth of bit rates:
I know this is a rather subjective question but I'm just looking for some input here. I've been ripping my disks to the WMA lossless format. However, to make a file easier to send, I ripped the same disk to mp3256kpbs and it was a fifth the size of the track ripped to lossless. Now, I didn't hear a difference but the reason might be because I'm playing the tracks through only fair speakers, about $100 for the pair with a small sub woofer. Albert, How old are you? Older people ten to have a diminished ability to hear certain frequencies than younger people. Also, bit rate alone can't simply be compared, according to the folks at HydrogenAudio. The developers of the Lame MP3 encoder report that accuracy of the ripped track, variability of the bit rate and the ability to distribute sounds throughout the stereo field all have an impact on the sound quality and file size. The Lame presets are the results from exhaustive listener tests on highly trained ears from several continents. High Albert, My speaker system was home built by me. I am also using a pare of tube amps that I built from s5 electronic kits. Ripping the same track in MP3 verses Wma lossless sounds a little different. But then again, tubes lets the sound come through as is. MP3's sounds a little watered down while the WMA lossless sounds just like a true audio CD. Hope this helps. slight correction, was RE: Those JPG files:
oops. slight correction, Juliet, papa, echo, golf. the letters J P E G actually stand for Joint photographic experts group. So in this case, it's just an image, probably of the cd cover, or other liner note material or some such thing.some folks choose to include that if they rip a cd for completenesses sake. But if you're blind those images won't even matter. So if you're a completest and want to keep them around you certainly can. but if not, just toss those JPG files away and the cd will play in mp3, or whatever format you chose to rip them in without further problems.
