Hi Alison.

The program was called Keyboard Piano.

Not sure if it's still available but you could try Google to find it.

Good luck...Keith

 Hi everyone!
A long time ago, I had this program which basically allowed me to press
letters on my computer keyboard and hear piano notes. You could change
instruments and even play sound effects. The problem is that I have
absolutely no idea what this program was called. I just remember that it
 was
extremely accessible, and extremely handy when I needed to give myself a
starting note for a song. If anyone has any idea of what I'm talking about
and knows what this program is called and where I might be able to find
 it,
please let me know. Thanks so much.

Is your wife (or someone else available) sighted that could look at the
screen to determine what exactly is going on.
Perhaps Silverlight isn't actually installed (even though you believe it
is) or there may be some other msg popping up somewhere that may serve as
a clue as to why nothing is happening.
For starters, what I would do is manually reinstall silverlight (rather
than the automated install) just to be certain the thing is properly
installed.

The one I'm using ATM is called Free Download Manager. You can get it from

You will have to use the graphics labeler to label some buttons, but I don't
think that's a big problem at all.

can't get games on game day audio

2008-04-02 Thread John Schwery
I can no longer listen to games on the MLB, Game Day Audio. This
problem started last Saturday. I installed Silver Light, hoping that
would solve the problem. I did a Windows repair, but didn't
help. After clicking on a radio station, the game will not
load. Sometimes, I get the log on screen and sometimes not. I
usually get lines like, waiting on mlb.mlb.com, read gdx.mlb.com and
some others. Refreshing the page doesn't help. I have tried closing
the player window and clicking the station again. I called MLB
support and they don't know the answer. The games come in on my
wife's pc but not mine. I have tried both Fire Fox and Explorer. WE
have a dsl connection and Belkin router. My connection is wired and
my wife's, wireless. I'm running XP home and my wife, XP Pro. Any
ideas for help?

At 10:31 AM 4/1/2008, John Sanfilippo spake thusly:-
 Hi,

I think this one is called zenstone plus.

I have partial vision and found that the stone works sort of like this. I
say sort of, to cover my uncertainty, but this has been my experience:

Hold zen plus so the flat screen faces you and is on the left side.

On top left is an audio out jack. Bottom left is the USB connector.

Top right has a rocker switch. Press this on its right side and hold it to
turn it on. I'm not quite certain what pressing it on the left side does.

I often found that, after not pressing buttons for a while, the first key
press is merely a wake up call and does nothing, so keep that in mind.

Now, facing you on the right is the more or less standard joy control, a
circle with a button in its center.

The center button brings up a menu. When this menu is active the right and
left edges of the circle move thru things like file play, radio, recorder,
and who knows what else. But the files play mode I believe is
 furthest left.
When you think you have the mode you want, press the center button to
 confirm your choice.

So, assuming you start playing files, press the center button, then press
the right edge of the ring to move to radio, then press center
 again and the
radio should be playing. Now use the left and right buttons, you
 know what I
mean, to tune to the station you want. Experiment with this,
 because tapping
gets different results from pressing and holding, I think.

Now, to get back to playing files, press that center button. Remember, you
might have to tap it twice because the first tap just says hello to the
unit. Once it wakes up, press the left button and confirm with center.

As for the other modes, I'm not going there. I only know that I've
accidentally recorded my voice but cannot pin down how. I gave that unit to
 a sighted friend.

I have the 2 gig model with a tiny speaker and 2 of the 1 gig zens, none of
which have screens and are all friendlier to people not looking at a
 display.

 Hth,
 Js

Attention Window-Eyes 6.1: Feedback needed Replay AV 8

2008-04-02 Thread Petro T. Giannakopoulos
Why doesn't W-Eyes 6.1 read Replay Av 8 File Menu? It skips it
altogether and goes directly to the Shows menu. With JAWS 9 I do
hear a file menu. Is this a glitch within Replay AV 8 or W-Eyes
6.1? But if I press alt f the file menu appears in W-Eyes
magically?

Also Window-Eyes reads out two help menus when their should be
only one such help menu. To make matters even worse the wrong
options are located within most menu.

So if I tell a user in my tutorial or Applian tells a
Window-Eyes user to go to the Record menu and choose the option
- the user will not hear that option in that menu because its in
another incorrect menu.

My display settings are correct here and JAWS does read the
menus correct.

Can other W-Eyes users confirm this?

Go to the Tools menu and you should hear Media Guide, URL Finder
and other options. Do you hear these with W-Eyes?

Do not use the keyboard shortcut for the tools menu. Just use
your alt key and locate the tools pulldown and go down.

If a users uses the keyboard shortcut for the menus like alt f,
alt s, alt r, alt t he will hear the right menu options within
each menu.

A Pocketful of Sound
A Quick-Start and Buyer's Guide to Accessible Book and Music Players By Anna
Dresner In braille PortaBook, $14

Have you ever wished you could carry a whole library of CDs or audiobooks
with you to college, on your commute, or on vacation? It's now possible to
do just that, in a device that fits in your pocket. But there are so many
choices it can be hard to know which one of these cute little gadgets you
should buy.

'A Pocketful of Sound' will help you decide. Author Anna Dresner describes
and compares many of the most accessible players, including the Zen Stone;
iPods; players running Rockbox; the Olympus DS-30, Ds-40, and DS-50; the
Victor Stream; the Icon; and many others. She uses the same checklist for
each product, so you can quickly compare their features. You'll learn how to
get the most out of your player with detailed descriptions, basic
instructions for use, and tips for power users. Anna has given each of these
products a good work-out, and shares her personal opinions on each in a
Would I Use It section .

Also included are brief sections on the media-playing capabilities of
notetakers and cell phones, information about how players organize music,
links to tutorials and other resources, and sources for downloading music
and books.

So whether you already own a player or are considering your first one, this
book will help you rock and read the way you want to.

Subject: Attention Window-Eyes 6.1: Feedback needed Replay AV 8

If a users uses the keyboard shortcut for the menus like alt f,
alt s, alt r, alt t he will hear the right menu options within
 each menu.

Re: Zen Stone Problem Fixed

2008-04-02 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm guessing you could have used Windows Media Player to transfer those
files as well.

Also, for JFW users, you can get some scripts for Creative Media Lite
from http://www.hartgen.org/, although they aren't strictly necessary to
use Creative Media Lite.

Samuel Wilkins wrote:
Hello, just to let you know my zen stone problem has now been fixed. I had to
use creative media light instead of explorer to transfer protected files. For
Window-Eyes users, creative media light is accessible, it just takes some
fiddling to get it to do what you want it to do.

directly using the Icon's powerful web browser and its wireless

connection, and play and navigate them using Icon's Bookshelf.

productivity into one device small enough to easily fit into a pocket or

purse. With its large hard drive, the Braille Plus stores dozens of

books at a time, and with its built-in web browser, the user can

download and read any of the NLS DTB collection without having to use a

Vyzex for Pocket Pod Questions

2008-04-02 Thread Brandon Hicks
Hi all,

I recently got a pocket pod to add to my guitar rig. I want to download
the Vyzex editor for it, but I don't know if it's accessible and I can't
create an account on the site.
Is there anyone who's created an account and downloaded Vyzex
successfully? If so how accessible with screen access is it?

Thanks
Brandon

I wouldn't count on lossless files with anything but the larger capacity
players. Try for 320 KBPS. mp3 files. I rip all my stuff to lossless as
well but I have to convert to a smaller size with my players.

wow, I just wish this book was available in something like regular

The only ways it seems to be available are on portabook cd or

It'd be sooo much nicer if it was in daisy format or something at least?

Re: New I or J tunes

2008-04-02 Thread Larry N
Hi Gordon. Larry here. Steve posted the original jTunes update message,
forwarded from another list. So far as I know, it's still in the coming soon
category.
this post concerning the updated version of the program is actually the
first that I've heard of it. Do you own the previous version? can you tell
me anything about cost and such?

To date, as far as I know, this application represents the only means by
which a blind person can successfully navigate iTunes.

For whatever my info might be worth, I asked the Window-Eyes folks if their
soon to be released version 7.0 would offer similar iTunes support, but a
representative indicated preference to withhold comment until the release of
Window-Eyes 7.0. Certainly their privellege, but it leaves me uncertain as
to whether to purchase jTunes straight away.

At any rate, since I am presently reviewing screen reader options for
reasons that do not apply to this list, I am very interested in jTunes. I
have jaws 8 on board and jTunes claims to work with Jaws 6 through 9. If I
happen to see news of an official release before it is posted by another
member, I'll certainly pass along what I learn.
