Hi John and all

Thanx for all the help! The problem seems to be solved now. There seems to
be some electric interference coming from an electric fence nearby.
Connecting the amplifier to a different socket solved the problem.

Regards

Andre

We had the power supply as far from the laptop as we could from the
beginning.

I still think that the problem probably lies with a power supply that is not
properly shielded.

Hello,
Is it some kind of a humming noise or it is a bussing sound?
Either way, it is all coming from the power supply.
If the power supply is weak and doesn't have enough amps of currant, that
thing will make a lot of noise with USB audio devices.
Call or go by the store and see if they will upgrade the power supply for
you.

Hello,
The problem may be with the power supply itself.
If the power supply isn't regulated properly, it will make a lot of noise
through your sound system.
Where did she get this lab top from?
You and or her may wish to start there and see if they will replace her
power supply with a better one.

Hello Pam,
I do a lot of recording with my computer, the SOUND MAX sound card is not a
good sound card at all.
This is one of the mane draw backs of sound cards that are built in to
mother boards of computers, you can't monitor anything that's going through

Your best bet, is a SOUND BLASTER sound card.
Maybe someone at the rehab center could install it for her.

John,

Just so I understand, this card won't work for simple VOIP? Seems hard
to believe there wouldn't be some way around it. Dave had been hoping
the person at Wal-Mart might have had the jacks mis-wired. This lady
knows nothing of computers, so he couldn't test his theory without her
moving cords, which she didn't seem to want to do.We were trying to
help out after she was unable to get into the chat on the ACB Radio
Tuesday Topics show in the ACB Radio Politics Room with Talkcom. We
probably should say she's
an acquaintance, and all we know is what we know. sigh Please
understand I'm not doubting you, but rather our possible inability to
communicate that the lady simply wants to work VOIP. Or is this what
you mean by monitoring live chats?

I think maybe it's time to suggest someone go over and check it out
hands on. If there's no way around the issue it will be up to her
whether she wants to invest in a sound card, as it appears she received
the computer under the auspices of Florida rehab. sigh
