You problably shouldn't mention to rehab about the need of putting in a new 
sound card unless she is using it for the specific purpose they gave her the 
computer. she can make her own changes but rehab prefers not knowing about 
personal usage. for example, if this is for school then she would have to 
justify how a better card would enhance what she is doing with class work.

Hello Pam,
I do a lot of recording with my computer, the SOUND MAX sound card is
not a good sound card at all.
This is one of the mane draw backs of sound cards that are built in to
mother boards of computers, you can't monitor anything that's going
through them.
Your best bet, is a SOUND BLASTER sound card.
Maybe someone at the rehab center could install it for her.
