Re: sound card

2010-01-06 Thread Joe Paton
Les, the M-audio cards are good, sound great, but if you are using a
screen reader, the latter versions of their interfaces are a bit
tricky to navigate. The M-audio doesn't utilize the windows mixer,
so you need their control pannel to adjust the card controls. It can
be done with window-eyes, but it takes a little perseverance, and
constant use of the mouse pad.

Good luck.
Joe

Another highly useful mobile App

2010-01-06 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi!

If you're into twitter then you'll love Voice Tweety, its completely free.

This client can handle 3 different types of tweets, voice obviously, text and
photo, uses twaudio for the voice tweets, you record them straight from your
Iphone and send them.

Text tweets are typed on the onscreen keyboard obviously.

Now if you don't want to use Voice Tweety and you prefer to use your trusty Mac
to record voice tweets for your twitter then you can by pointing your browser
to twaud.io and uploading a tweet you've recorded - there's a record button on
the site but I'm not sure how that works, perhaps I may get some further insite
into that if I go up there with the Iphone - If people want to follow
my twitter and hear what audio tweets can sound like then go to
htp://www.twitter.com/grtdane

I also installed Mobile Navigator today and I'm looking forward to trying that
out, just played with it for 5 minutes and I can already see what users are
raving about.

"Around me" is another useful APP, again free it tells you what's around you,
select a category and pages of information come up, double-tap a place of
interest to bring up further information.

in what way do you have the mantiance issues, the plextalk pocket has

Well clearly these are for different markets. Your/our 520's aren't
 going
to read NLS books. I will say that I have heard from a distance that
 the
Plex has had maintenance issues. It seems to me that the booksense is a
fairly robust piece of equipment; I'd have looked at it if I did not
 already
 have a stream.

 Peace and decisions.

I really would like to hear some comparisons between the Plextalk

the GW Book Sence and my dm-520. I actually wouldn't be suprised of one
 of
the first two was as good or better at some things as the Olympus and
 maybe
not far behind in other important areas.

So, I'll be glad to have a choice for talking book player/recorder now

If the video resolution is anything like the audio resolution, and if
you care at all whether it is or not, you'll be grossly disappointed
in videos on the Touch, or any handheld player. I don't even think
the audio is 64kbps stereo, and it sounds like it's coming from the
bottom of the ocean most of the time. The video resolution is less
than 480 by 640 so you know it's got to be bad. I don't know how
people who can see stand it. I can hear, and I won't stand it. The
audio quality is much too crappy.

Hi.

I'll say right off that I'm not a Goldwave user, and you may have already
tried what I'm going to suggest.

If the program uses the standard menus, look under the View menu, and see if
there's an option for the status bar. Hit ENTER on that, and see if what
you're looking for has come back.

Hope this works.

Hi All, Has anyone had success installing the jaws scrips for audition? If
so, can you please send me some detailed directions regarding the steps. I
have tried it twice and now jaws doesn't like running with audition. I may
need to do a repair on jaws. I delete what I think all the added scrips.
But still when opening audition and switch to multi-track mode, jaws has an
application error and I need to open another screenreader to locate the
application error window and close jaws.

Thanks for any help in advance.
