Hello sunshine!
Well, first of all, how do you want them, do you want them powered with AC
or is it battery driven speakers you want? I have a pare of powered
speakers, which are quite small, but they have a great sound just for the
sake of MP3 listening and so on, I can look up the brand for you, but they
have power from the wall, but they're portable.
I'll let you know about the brand when I have a sighted person who can look
it up for me.

Hello Brent and list,
The Ipod Touch has the standard 1/8 inch headphone jack and will work fine

I've successfully used the Ipod Touch to listen to streaming audio ever

But it is a really cheap MP3 player that my wife picked up at a loco dollar

 Hello Tom,
Lock me up and throw away the key!
When I was only 10 years of age, I received a talking book record
player and a C-77 talking book cassette player.
I was told that you couldn't play music tapes and records on those
 machines.
But I got away with doing that with both of them.
The only thing with the record player, you couldn't play 45 and or 78
records on them because there wasn't any speed positions for those 2
 speeds.
But you were able to play 33 and a third record LP's without any
 problems at all!
And I did, and enjoyed it too!
So again, lock me up and throw away the key!
 My best regards.

Hi Samuel,

to enable "what u hear", "stereo mix" or whatever it's called on windows 7:
1. Go to the recording page of the sound dialog, which you can open from
start menu, or the the context menu of the volume icon in the notification
area.
2. In the list of devices, by default disabled devices aren't shown, and
stereo mix is disabled. To show disabled devices, open the context menu of
any item in the list, and choose show disabled devices if it isn't checked.
Stereo mix ( or whatever) should then appear in the list. To enable it,
choose enable from its context menu (if it's already enabled, then disable
rather than enable appears in the menu.)

Note that if "what you hear" doesn't appear in the list after setting the
option to show disabled devices, then this may be because your current sound
driver doesn't support it. You could try and find a more recent one for your
computer/laptop/motherboard.

Armando,

Wireless mics lose the natural warm bass tones, thus over
accentuating highs. The result is sharp, shrill, sometimes piercing
highs.

They're rarely used in professional recording, but live bands like the
convenience of them during shows. As to which mics are the best, all the
major brands offer good mics. It depends on your budget. Be wary of
advice

that one brand is better than another. Consider this however, Sennheiser
offers a ten year warranty on their mics, which none of the other
companies
do. For feedback, stick with carteoid, not omni directional mics. Keep
in
mind, any mic will feedback if to close to speaker, or if speaker volume
is
too loud. Shure makes the SM57, which is sturdy, and sounds good for
voice

and instruments. You can buy one for less than 100 dollars. Finally, be
aware that Condenser mics pick up high sounds better than dynamic mics,
but
they are fragile and may die if dropped. Dynamic mics are more durable,
and

somewhat drop friendly, but their clarity is less than condenser mics. It
all dpends on what your purpose is. Most studios carry a large variety of
mics. Hope this helps. I record professional CD's for bands, and run
large
P.A.s for shows. I've used a little of everything. Let me know if I can
be

of any further help.John Russo

associated links is to go to the bottom of the home page and then go
through the links using shift Tab until you find a link to download the
MP3 file. I hope this is clear.

microphone for Armando

2010-03-26 Thread Johnny Russo
Armando,

Wireless mics lose the natural warm bass tones, thus over
accentuating highs. The result is sharp, shrill, sometimes piercing highs.
They're rarely used in professional recording, but live bands like the
convenience of them during shows. As to which mics are the best, all the
major brands offer good mics. It depends on your budget. Be wary of advice
that one brand is better than another. Consider this however, Sennheiser
offers a ten year warranty on their mics, which none of the other companies
do. For feedback, stick with carteoid, not omni directional mics. Keep in
mind, any mic will feedback if to close to speaker, or if speaker volume is
too loud. Shure makes the SM57, which is sturdy, and sounds good for voice
and instruments. You can buy one for less than 100 dollars. Finally, be
aware that Condenser mics pick up high sounds better than dynamic mics, but
they are fragile and may die if dropped. Dynamic mics are more durable, and
somewhat drop friendly, but their clarity is less than condenser mics. It
all dpends on what your purpose is. Most studios carry a large variety of
mics. Hope this helps. I record professional CD's for bands, and run large
P.A.s for shows. I've used a little of everything. Let me know if I can be
of any further help.John Russo

Hello Howard,
I have an MP3 player.
I plugged in to my NLS player and hit the power button, it started playing
music for me the moment after I powered it up.
But it is a really cheap MP3 player that my wife picked up at a loco dollar
store.

So to be honest with you, I don't know what's going on there.

Re: Enabling What you Hear on Windows 7

2010-03-26 Thread David Bailes
Hi Samuel,

to enable "what u hear", "stereo mix" or whatever it's called on windows 7:
1. Go to the recording page of the sound dialog, which you can open from start
menu, or the the context menu of the volume icon in the notification area.
2. In the list of devices, by default disabled devices aren't shown, and stereo
mix is disabled. To show disabled devices, open the context menu of any item in
the list, and choose show disabled devices if it isn't checked. Stereo mix ( or
whatever) should then appear in the list. To enable it, choose enable from its
context menu (if it's already enabled, then disable rather than enable appears
in the menu.)

Note that if "what you hear" doesn't appear in the list after setting the
option to show disabled devices, then this may be because your current sound
driver doesn't support it. You could try and find a more recent one for your
computer/laptop/motherboard.

David.

machines)..now it might be a thing
where..the needles were bigger..and the
grooves in the old talking book records were
bigger; I don't know for sure..but oh
yeah..playing record albums on talking book
machines was a practice that people did a
lot! But I'm fairly certain that..if one had
talked with their librarian..I'm sure they
would have said "Oh no; you're not supposed to play records on these machines!"

Putting books on cartrage.

2010-03-26 Thread Howard Traxler
Is it so, that some kinds of USB thumb drives and such don't work on the NLS
player? I have a coby mp3 player that is, in effect, just a thumb drive
that happens to have mp3 playing bardware/firmware built-in. When I plug it
into the side plug on the nls player, the player beeps and nothing else
happens. Wonder if I put the stuff on it wrong or maybe it's just not gonna
work?

Thanks.
Howard

Hello Victoria,
Use an audio editor like Sound Forage or Gold Wave to record your talking
book tapes.

Convert them to .MP3 with Switch and or any other audio file converter.
Then copy it to the cartridge, and there you are.
Now all you have to do is, put the cartridge in the player and go to town
listening to it!

Hope this helps.
My best regards.
 John.

If a book is only available on old disk or cassette, how would you
suggest going about getting it put on your own cartridge?

Many thanks! Vicky

Hello Tom,
Lock me up and throw away the key!
When I was only 10 years of age, I received a talking book record player
and a C-77 talking book cassette player.

 John.

I would imagine that if you speak with someone from a library, they're
naturally gonna tell you that you can't play anything on these players
but books; it's like (in the old days)..folks would sometimes say you
weren't supposed to play anything but talking book records on the old
talking book players! I've never really heard a definitive answer for
that one; all I know is: people used to do it all the time (played their
records on the talking book machines)..now it might be a thing
