Good evening, Mario and List.

The GoldWave autogain function works very well in maximizing and leveling
gain throughout the audio recording. To effectuate autogain do the
following

1. Type ctrl+a to ensure the entire audio file is selected.
2. Type alt+c to launch the effects menu.
3. Type u (without quotes) for the volume menu.
4. Your first choice should be autogain so type Enter to bring up a dialog
box.
5. In the autogain dialog box you will find a list of 7 preset options
which include adjust to 50 percent, default, ffast gain update, maximize
voice with high noise, medium gain update, peak reducer, and slow gain
update. Select a preset option with the up and down arrow keys and tab 3
times to preview and listen before making your permanent choice.
6. When satisfied with your autogain preset choice, tab once and hit space
on the stop preview button and tab to OK and press the space bar. It may
take a few minutes to reprocess the gain level depending on your PC's
overall performance and the size of the audio file.

Generally, I find the default option works well at least 90 percent of the
time.

Hello there. Just a small question for goldwave users. How can i read
current status of the volume of the file or part of the file in goldwave,
so that i can make all the parts of the file to be equal?

Using jfw and nvda as screen readers.
Thanks for all the answers.

Your suggested card EMU 0404 is the PCI type, so it doesn't apply to my

Re: USB Sound Cards

2010-07-25 Thread Jörgen Hansson

Hello paul!
Well, it can be accessible by scripting the soft ware, but, for the
purpesous of using it as a regular music player I don't think you don't have
to touch the software, just let it be as it is. when I'm using sound forge
or sonar etc, I can go in to the asio pannel and adjust some parameters from
it's panel without any problems, but the actual EMU control pannel isn't so
accessible, so I just let it be as it is.

I am using winamp with this card without any problem at all.

Re: Pure One Mini DAB+ digital radio.

2010-07-25 Thread Peter Cliff

Hi David

I also recently purchased a pure1 mini digital radio. Although now I have a
problem with the radio after trying to preset the stations. It is now
frozen or something, because there is no scanning of stations. I have tried
accessing an electronic manual that is totally in English without success.
So if you have had any further luck with your unit, I'd be interested to
know.

Melbourne Radio 3MP the last few minutes

2010-07-25 Thread Dane Trethowan
Okay, if this sort of thing interests you then you can download it from
http://www.sendspace.com/file/mkgv9i
and Jonathan if you're reading this I reckon you'll certainly be very
interested smile.

The file was recorded using a DAB+ tuner and is in FLAC format so quality is
pretty good, lasts under just 6 minutes and is about 28MB in size.

For those who want more? Well I have the last 24 hours of 3MP and the first 24
hours of MTR 1377 which I'm happy to share, get back to me privately.

Yes, that did work. However, I just need to get the battery connected. The

I also recently purchased a pure1 mini digital radio. Although now I

a problem with the radio after trying to preset the stations. It is now
frozen or something, because there is no scanning of stations. I have
tried accessing an electronic manual that is totally in English without
success. So if you have had any further luck with your unit, I'd be

Generally, I find the default option works well at least 90 percent of the
time.

I suspect the imic's mic input is mono. Most sound cards mic input is mono.

I purchased a USB sound card for my new Windows 7 laptop, and it has two mic
jacks on it. The tech who installed the software on it for me said one of
the jacks was for a stereo mic, but I'm not sure if that's true, because
while setting up my PC for internet broadcasting I plugged the mic into each
jack, and it came out of a different speaker depending on which jack was
used. The mic I used wasn't stereo, though.

I don't know the brand name of the sound card, but it wasn't that expensive,
only costing around $50. I've been able to set it up to work pretty well,
but I haven't figured out how to mute the line in on it. This isn't a big
deal, since I can just unplug my XM PCR from it, but I would like to figure
out how to get this to work.

Hope this helps.

GO REDS!

Streaming audio

2010-07-25 Thread Gary Schindler
if you are to use the NCH broadwave software to stream, how would you link to a
church website to be able to use the software free? surely simply linking the
homepage to your site won't do it I don't think? I have looked at the faqs and
can't discern what is needed exactly.

Question on Itunes and JAWS

2010-07-25 Thread Jim
Howdy,

If this topic has been exhausted on the list, then please answer me off list
so as not to bombard folks with unnecessary repetition. I don't know, as I
haven't been lerking here for a while.

I just downloaded Itunes on to both of my computers. One is a Vista
computer and one is an XP computer. I'm currently using JAWS 10. Do I need
any special scripts to make it work, or is it useable without anything
special?

Are there any tutorials as to how to best use it with JAWS?

Thanks very much for any help you could provide.

Re: Question on Itunes and JAWS

2010-07-25 Thread chris hallsworth

Hi Jim,
iTunes 9 works well with JAWS 10. The only thing that doesn't work is
the store. You will need JAWS 11 for that. The latest build of JAWS 11
is 11.0.1461, and you may use that as a 40 minute reboot situation if
you are not authorized for 11.

Hope this helps.

Re: Reading current volume status in goldwave

2010-07-25 Thread Mario Percinic

Yes it does, but i see that still you didn't get it what i want.
I would like to be able to read the status of the volume, not hear it, but
read it with the screen reader. So for example, when i play the file or
select part of the file, i'd like to see on what volume is it set, like it
play on the 20 db, or 40 db. I know that sighted users have that option in
goldwave and that it is graphical.

4. Your first choice should be autogain so type Enter to bring up a
dialog box.
6. When satisfied with your autogain preset choice, tab once and hit
space on the stop preview button and tab to OK and press the space bar.
It may take a few minutes to reprocess the gain level depending on your
PC's overall performance and the size of the audio file.

Generally, I find the default option works well at least 90 percent of
the time.

But once I get the video to start playing, that's when JFW will start

Only thing I know to suggest is: start whatever program you use; then be
real quick on that control key! I use Total Recorder and..what I've
done, once I find the place I know I want to record, I'll shut Jaws down;
then start recording the thing I want to record; works just fine!!

Don't get too excited about the quality of the files from youtube, they
are meant to be flash files, so maybe total recorder will download them
and keep them that way and you can convert them to what you want. I
think the video is an addon for total recorder.

Re: Reading current volume status in goldwave

2010-07-25 Thread Rob Tabor

Hi again Mario.

I had your exact question in mind in explaining the use of the autogain
feature in GW 5.57. I have never seen a db level indicator on the title bar,
but I had thought the purpose of the autogain feature was to make the gain
level uniform throughout the audio file regardless of the varying sound
levels in the recording. If this is true, the need to know db levels is
obviated. If not, then I will either have to do some poking around to see if
I can find a db level indicator. IN my case, most of the video attributes
are set to blank as a preventive remedy to cure a conflict between JAWS
and the GW video intercept manager which was causing system tie-ups after
about 20 to 25 minutes of normal operation. If any listmember all ready
knows how to access a DB level, please chime in!

Best regards,
Rob Tabor

Hello Rob, and first of all thank you very much for you kind explanation.
However, this is not what i was looking for, since i know how to use
autogain option. What i would like to do is to get the info about the
current db level of the file which i just lounched, so that i could
compaire 2 files or 2 parts of the files which i want to make sound the
same.

Thanks.

4. Your first choice should be autogain so type Enter to bring up a
dialog box.
6. When satisfied with your autogain preset choice, tab once and hit
space on the stop preview button and tab to OK and press the space bar.
It may take a few minutes to reprocess the gain level depending on your
PC's overall performance and the size of the audio file.

Generally, I find the default option works well at least 90 percent of
the time.

Hello there. Just a small question for goldwave users. How can i read
current status of the volume of the file or part of the file in
goldwave, so that i can make all the parts of the file to be equal?

Using jfw and nvda as screen readers.
Thanks for all the answers.

2010-07-25 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Well, for whatever it's worth, in versions somewhere around 5.25, one
could easily read the DB level while recording with Goldwave. I too
am no longer able to do this and plan to write to Chris, the author of
Goldwave, in an effort to find out specifically what settings need to
be changed in order to do so.

Hi, Don.
Thanks for your willingness to advocate for better accessibility for myself
and other GW users. It certainly doesn't hurt to be on a first name basis
with the program developer. Please do not hesitate to call on me and
hopefully others on list for letters of support if you determine or believe
they are needed. Here's wishing you the best in this very worthwhile
endeavor.

Best regards
