lost my windows sounds
Hi Guys and Gals, A strange thing happened a while ago, I lost my windows sounds, you know the one that sounds when windows turns off and when it starts. Plus some others including the sound you get when a piece of hardward is accidentally disconnected and a few others. I have all volumes turned on and nothing muted. If I look at the list of sounds they are all there and set for on. I am using windows, xp 3 and an SB live sound card. This all of a sudden showed up a few months ago and it really baffles me. I sure miss those sounds, anybody have any ideas? Thanks for any info. Bud Schwab W 6 Z Y P Malibu, California To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Re: lost my windows sounds
That's kind of an odd one but when your in the sounds under control panel and you play the sound does it play? If not press the browse button and locate the sound you need. These are usually found under Windows Multi Media. Once you've reset the sound check it again to make sure it's playing then apply the changes once the sounds are all working and save your scheme. You can give it any name you want such as djc's sounds. Hopefully this will resolve this issue for you. *** REPLY SEPARATOR *** On 12/13/2010 at 9:04 AM Bud Schwab wrote: Hi Guys and Gals, A strange thing happened a while ago, I lost my windows sounds, you know the one that sounds when windows turns off and when it starts. I assume your screen reader is still pumping out sound. What about your media player? Any trouble with that? I wonder if your default audio output device got changed somehow. Am I reading your message correctly; are you running Windows XP SP3? Do you have an on board sound card in addition to your Soundblaster card? -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com On 12/13/2010 11:13 AM, djc wrote: That's kind of an odd one but when your in the sounds under control panel and you play the sound does it play? sp dif
Hi all. I am using a soundblaster live sound card with the 64 bit version of windows seven. I am having a problem in that each time i boot up my machine with a set of headphones attached, i am loosing all my sounds. on investigation I found that the sound source was changing from my speakers to a setting called spdif, which needd to be corrected in the control pannel. When i booted up the machine with no headphones attached, my speakers were remaining as the sound source and all was grand. Is there is a setting in my sound card properties that would cause the sound source to change each time the machine boots with headphones attached? I attached a usb sound card, and now can't get the sound to play through my speakers, even though i have them set correctly in the control pannel. Where do I go next, all help wellcome Brian To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Hi Christopher No I don't have any other sound card, just the original sb live and I have that set for the output device. It's kind of baffling.. I do get other sounds like from K1000 and other sources like that. Bud At 09:54 AM 12/13/2010, you wrote: I assume your screen reader is still pumping out sound. What about your media player? RE: USB headphones
that is not what I asked, of course the sounds and jfw / or Window-Eyes plays through the headset, what I wanted to know was a way to route the sounds from my PCI Sound Blaster live! card into the Plantronics 6655 USB headset, so what come into the input of the sound card can be heard over the headset. Case in point; I have the XM PC radio which has a conventional audio output, but it is driven by the computer via USB control, and the output of it's audio I plugged into my Sound Blaster live! card, but so haven't figured a way to get that into my USB headset. :) I have other audio that can come in through that 1/8-inch audio input jack on the card, but not a way yet that I can figure out, to listen to it through the headset. Arrow to the one the sounds should play through the headset. The other way is just reboot the computer and it should detect your USB headset and begin playing through the headphone. Hi, will look into that part of the program, for I have virtual audio cable installed. Curtis Delzer.
