Sound Scheme Problem.
hi list, What event in XP uses ding.wav? think this is the event that's not changing when trying to modify it. In addition to my original message, I'm hearing a beep from my laptop, but its not a sound from my available choices when browsing. Best way i can describe it, is that it sounds like a sort of game: its not appearing in my list of sounds. Well what AI would do is try to reset the sound skeme and see if that works. Re: Sound Scheme Problem.
When you say list of sounds what list are you refering to? I apologize if you already know this, but you can see the different events you can associate with different sounds in Start Menu - Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices. In the Sounds tab, there's a tree view with all of the different events. Note that this includes Windows events as well as events from other applications. You can use the Play button as you move through this list, and maybe you can identify which event is using bing.wav as well as the other sound you're looking for. You can also use the Browse button to find and use sounds (*.wav) in places other than the default. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com On 2/14/2011 2:57 AM, Anita wrote: hi list, What event in XP uses ding.wav? think this is the event that's not changing when trying to modify it. Its funny, the sound that I'm trying to get rid of isn't actually there I'm trying to assign Ding.wav to Windows critical stop. This may be the wrong event. You know how when you're in an edit box, and when narrowing ding.wav is played, to indicate its empty? This is the sound I'm trying to fix. Hope this makes sense. What application are you in when you hear that sound? I wonder if maybe it isn't a Windows event but rather something built into the application itself. Clear kote makes a really good cd cleaning product called Disk Restorer. . I have heard of a product called CD Dr. I have used both Armerall and tooth paste. I think cleaning a cd really good with dawn is a really good solution. I have used the clear kote disk restorer on CDs that wouldn't even boot up and it worked great restoring the Boot table of the cd. If I fix a cd I make a coppy of the cd to back it up. I would say that Tooth paste is the most unlikely method of cleaning a cd. Armerall works but who knows how much dust you will trap on the cd at a later time. But I love the clear kote. Dane Your Panasonic Video to DVD machine
Hi Dane, What mottle is your Video to DVD machine? Do you just put in your video and blank DVD and press 1 button to create a DVD version of your video? Many thanks! I've got what perhaps may be an easier option for you than Total Recorder, will cost a little more but will probably do a better job. There are DVD/VCR combo units available from brands such as Panasonic which both play and record DVD'S and video cassettes so therefore it follows you can dubb from one to the other at the touch of a button. I've had my Panasonic model for nearly 4 years now and I wouldn't be without it for the very reasons you've written to me in the first place smile. If you'd rather capture images onto your computer and dubb them across to another media then you'll need to use Total Recorder video Professional, I don't own this product as yet so I can't give you all that information about it, I plan to upgrade to it next week so in the meantime you may consider reading some of the primers on Total Recorder Video Professional and how to capture video etc which can be found on Total Recorder's web site at http://www.totalrecorder.com Good luck with all that, sounds exciting. I now have one of these and I've written up the first part of my review for the antenna on my blog at http://www.grtdane.wordpress.com I hope others will find my blog entry of interest and I'd be most grateful if others who own this system could leave comments.
