Re: over the air tv on a win 7 machine?
Hi. From my experience tv tuners will carry this signal if it exists. However, most cable providers and local networks don't carry the SAP feed or if they do it's used for different languages and not description. Not that there are many things described anymore. bb Brett Boyer Audio Production and voice over http://brettboyer.voices.com Brett Boyer's Big Bag of Goodies! I know TVSpeak from Codefactory on the software side is said to do it with some of these PC tuners, but can they all do this now? Winamp and Windows 7 64-bit
Whether the below problem is a Winamp configuration issue is something I hope list members will assist me to ascertain. I have set Winamp as my default audio player and play all audio files with Winamp except for Windows media files. The problem I am attempting to solve is that the volume level on any audio file played in Winamp is significantly lower than it is if I play it in any other player, specifically windows media player. This is true regardless of the fact that the Winamp volume is set to 100 per cent. I realize that I could lower the output volume in Windows media player, but I prefer to use Winamp especially for mp3 files. I have examined the Winamp equalizer settings and see nothing to change to raise the output volume. Incidentally, this machine is a Windows 7 64-bit desktop. Thhis problem is not present on my other machines which are running XP home. Thanks for suggestions. How does discussion of accessible home theater fit with all of this? That is a discussion I would like to be a part of too. I would agree that there is a lot of interest, and I understand how it might be contriversial on a list primarily geared to the discussion of audio. The problem is that I wonder how many folks would subscribe to a list that only delt with discussion of the topic we are talking about. My guess is that it would take a lot of publicity to get may people. - Original Message - From: "Brett Boyer" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Tuesday, January 03, 2012 8:41 PM Subject: Re: over the air tv on a win 7 machine? Tab to the restore file associations on start up checkbox and press space to check it if it is not already checked. If you find later that there are some file types that you don't want to default to Winamp, you can individually unselect them in the list of file types. There is also the program Winamp Agent which is supposed to stop other programs from grabbing Winamp defaults, but I have chosen to not run it. Yeah, this right. You need a TV toner that you can put the Comcast card into. I forgot about this. But when I talked to them, they said it should work just fine like it use to. Again, if you all want to go deeper, which I would want to, E-mail me off list because when you get into things like Comcast and the like, I guess we are going beyond the scope of the list. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of vrvaug...@mailzone.com Sent: Tuesday, January 03, 2012 8:20 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: over the air tv on a win 7 machine? Tab to the restore file associations on start up checkbox and press space to check it if it is not already checked. If you find later that there are some file types that you don't want to default to Winamp, you can individually unselect them in the list of file types. There is also the program Winamp Agent which is supposed to stop other programs from grabbing Winamp defaults, but I have chosen to not run it. How do I get a long recording in the latest version of Gold Wave?
Hi. I tried to record some college football tonight. The recording was supposed to be two games, lasting about 8 hours. I've done this with Gold Wave before, but the latest limits me to three hours and a little using the WAV file format. How do I basicly make a real long recording with Gold Wave? I know I won't be able to save it as a WAV file, but that's no problem. I have the unbounded choice in the options checked, so it's not that problem. Thanks in advance for help. GO CATS! Re: Burning an Audio CD -- false alarm
Sorry folks, I guess I spoke too soon. I don't know why, but my new coasters actually play on my CD juke box. I guess I must have done it right the first four times. Thanks anyway. Howard - Original Message - From: "Howard Traxler" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Sunday, January 01, 2012 8:29 AM Subject: Re: Burning an Audio CD Thanks Barry, When I pressed insert plus shift plus t while playing a file, winamp says nothing. That could be a matter of running the correct jaws scripts. Two things that might matter here: Attempting to create an audio CD, the source files are MP3 files of various rates. The burning program (Burn Aware Free) says it'll convert mp3's to CDA's. The resulting files on the CD are CDA files, but only 1KB and perport to be shortcuts. I moved the source files away from where the shortcuts might find 'em and they still play. I have now converted the source files to .wav and all looks OK. I'll try burning again. Here comes my fourth coaster to complete a set of four. - Original Message - From: "Barry Chapman" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Sunday, January 01, 2012 1:34 AM Subject: Re: Burning an Audio CD Hi Howard, I don't know anything about the program in question, but make the following comments. Whenever you look at any audio CD in Windows Explorer, you will only see the .cda files. That is why you can't just copy files from an audio CD to your hard drive. You need to use a CD ripper for that, so everything up to that point is as expected. To try to determine why the CD won't play in another CD player, when playing a track in Winamp, press Insert+shift+t and check the detail. If the Sample rate is not 44 kHz, then that could be your problem. Regards, Barry Chapman - Original Message - From: "Howard Traxler" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Sunday, January 01, 2012 4:16 PM Subject: Burning an Audio CD Hi folks, My system is Windows XP SP3 and JAWS 11. I'm using Burn Aware Free trying to burn a music CD. I go down the list of files and add each of them (35) to the New Compilation screen. Then I go back to the first screen that shows the drive letter, speed (Iselected slowest), and list of files in the compilation. I have to select all files then Burn. A box on this screen shows the space and time used and remaining. I hit Burn and it runs for quite a long time--maybe 15 minutes--jaws announcing up to 100% for each track. When it's finished, it dings and ejects the CD. Now when I try to play the CD--using Winamp 5.621--it plays fine. When I look at the CD in My Computer or Windows Explorer, all the files are CDA and only 1KB and called shortcuts. When I take the CD to a different CD player, it's empty. Anybody know what step I'm missing?
