Re: Still Looking For Help With Winamp
Hello Joe and list: I also have been consulting another list! After looking around, I finally found where to switch from Direct Sound to wave output (and vise versa) no soap! If I switch to Wave output (which actually did resolve the problem) but then if I turn Winamp down, I turn everything down, which I don't want! So I had to switch back over to direct sound! As for unloading Jaws as you suggested, again no soap! When Jaws is unloaded, there seems to be no way to use the arrow keys or anything else! Since Winamp is my default player, I've not tried Windows Media; I'm not even sure that you can fast-forward through a file with Windows Media anymore (I do know that you cannot go back) I also know that you cannot go directly to a certain spot in a file with Windows Media like you can with Winamp; these are reasons why I prefer Winamp over what few audio MP3 players I have used! I do appreciate all of your efforts to try and help! Hopefully (one way or another) I'll get this resolved and will report back to you if and when I do! Re: Still Looking For Help With Winamp
Hi Tom, I am not fully convercent with all the symptoms of your problem. However, the screen reader's volume should be independent of the winamp volume. I think the screen reader actually directly adjusts the audio device, where the winamp volume adjusts actual output from winamp. I could be wrong, I often am. you need to start from somewhere as they say, so remove winamp. Then go to the program files directory, and remove the winamp directory if it is still their. to be completely thorough, you could also remove the directory in documents and settings, users user applicationdata there's a winamp sub directory their which holds user settings, and I doubt if the audio side is controled from here anyway but be completely sure, remove this directory as well. re-install winamp, remembering to accepth the clasic theme on the visualisations side of things. If you haven't got an recent winamp let me know and I'll send you a link. If after re-install, then the problem shouldn't be winamp, but a shared component. So then you might want to re-install your sound card drivers, not always easy, but can be done. I suggested that you try another player to try and narrow down the sources of your problem. Winamp Problem Resolved!
Hello list: I am happy to report that I have solved my Winamp problem! I must confess that the idea came to me while listening to a Philmore message a friend sent me (she mentioned something about possibly checking to make sure of which sound device was playing my sounds) so with this in mind, I went to the control panel; then into Sounds And Audio (at least I think that's what it's called) long story short: I was able to determine that Total Recorder somehow had become the device that was playing audio! I then changed that to my sound card (Audigy 2) and presto! It's all working good now! No more static at low volume and no more of that God-Awful sound when I fast forward through a file! Thanks for listening and for your patience! Tom Kaufman To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Re: Still Looking For Help With Winamp
I don't have access to my Windows machine where I have Winamp installed, but I think you have to be using the right output device in Winamp to have the volume of Winamp be separate from your screen reader volume. Try a different output device in Winamp to see what happens. I'm not sure what the original problem was though, since I don't see the full thread below. Re: guitar for beginner?
Honestly, that's such a personal thing. I'd go in, and handle them. There are some really cheap guitars that play like crap, there are some that are cheap that aren't bad. The worst thing to do is to buy somethikng that's totally crappy and will be hard to play .. seen it with acustics. Do you like the sound of a fender, gypson, etc .. that will be a factor. I would recommend getting medium gage strings .. but the guitars will already be strung. Wish I could be of more help, but a guitar is such a personal thing. My advice is learn acustic first before electric. Honestly, a classical guitar is the best because once yhou learn it, you'll find playing a regular guitar and most of all and electric much easier. Learn your scales, it's cool to jump in and start learning songs, but you want that foundation. Too many people never sit there and learn those different scales, and there4's tons of different fingerings. twitter http://twitter.com/richardclayppol last.fm http://www.last.fm/user/lord_of_beer msn bellevue@gmail.com skype lord_of_beer - Original Message - From: BlueNose hotsco...@sky.com To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, July 02, 2012 2:15 PM Subject: guitar for beginner? hi guys, I'm looking for recommendations as which is the best eletric guitar for a beginner?. RE: 5.1 stereo amps to connect to a sound card
Well, the Creative labs ones I've seen on Dell's site. As for what else I've been looking at, well here's the thing. Now I have the companion 5 system from Bose, and don't get me wrong, I love it, but I'm blowing passed the the PC speakers and going for actually home theater systems you would typicly use with a TV. So, I've been looking at things like Dain's 7.1 system from Yamaha, the one I really find interesting is the YHT895. I've also looked at Onkyo, and dephinately Bose. I just love the Lifestyle V35 from Bose, it's $3000 though. Only problem with them is Bose refuses to go 7l.1. That's also why I asked people like Dain on this here list once if there really was anything to 7.1. Because if there is, then I may have to get a system frome some one else other then Bose. If not, well, we'll see. So yeah, I'm blowing passed the internal sound card, or any sound card for that matter, and going for the HDMI port on a graffics card. So, I don't know you tell me, if you want an actual home theater system, then stick with me. Now for those that love the Z5500, not bashing it, I've never heard it to be honest, it's just since that is the case, I don't want to put my self in the situation of buying something from say Amazon for instance, and then not likeing it, and going threw the night mare of returning it. That's all, so, same goes for Yamaha too. I've never heard a Yamaha system so, I'd love to hear one before buying one. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Frank Ventura Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2012 6:48 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: 5.1 stereo amps to connect to a sound card Any links to any that may be recommened? Nothing with a built in receiver or multiple inputs just a good high quality, high power amplifier to compliment an average sound card. Re: guitar for beginner?
I agree, been there done that! First start with fairly good acuestic guitar, learn all you can, take lsessons and then if you still got the go, then move up to electric. But rent first, try out several, test them and find the one you like.
