Recording a podcast, can anyone help?

2013-03-08 Thread Gary Price(Gmail)

Hello everyone.

My name is Gary Price from Bolton in lancashire, United Kingdom.

I have recently started doing a series of podcasts on a free Windows
programme called SpeakOn. Now the thing is I had to do these on my
iPhone using Dropvox so it would pick up both my voice and computer speech.

However its been pointed out on a website I'm on TAFN (The Accessible
Friends Network) that my computer's speech is extremely quiet!

I want to do an update to my 3 that I've already done. Please what can I
do so that I can record both me and the computer? I want to do it in
little bits you see, so as I say something I want to demonstraight it.

Now I'm completely blind, and because of where we are extremely
iseluated. So I don't have any sighted people to help me out with cable
connections and stuff like that.

Many thanks, any responses really appreciated.

Hi Joe

Yes it is dreadful audio, it could be better. A great track
all the same.

Hello Adrien,

I've heard it tonight.
Dreadful audio though, but a good guitar solo, reckon he
liked the
original. Brian may would have been pleased to hear his work
so
expertly executed.
Drums are high in the mix as well, huge conpression all over
the
place, I'd look for a better version if I liked the track.

Reckon the quality is the answer to your distortion.
particularly if other music is clean and good sounding.

Thanks.

Joe

Hi Joe

I have a feeling it is youtube, the audio possibly isn't
too
clear, if you want to hear them, search for guns and roses
and Elton john bohemian rhapsody, not a great recording.

Hi,

I've just seen your answer to ray Adrien.

If you play these files on-line from Youtube, how is the
sound thenm?

Do you think that the distortion is being introduced when
the files
are converted?

I haven't had any excperience with these youtube stream
rippers or
whatever they are.

Thanks.

Joe

Hello Gary:

You could use Total Recorder Pro, it would allow you to record both your
voice and the Jaws output.

RE: Handheld recorder with recording timer

2013-03-08 Thread Hamit Campos
Ah yeah. I don't recall the PTR2 having one. Very interesting. I had a PTR2
once, It's gone now though. Ah the goodold PTR2. Sometimes I want to buy
another one but come on, $895 for something that the cards don't exist for
any more almost? You can find a select few on Amazon, but who's to say
they'll really work? Pluss, like you said, the LS 100 does better quality
recording anyways. It does HD. But part of me still loves the good old PTR2.
But I digress, point is, that's cool man. I don't the PTR2 having it, but if
it does that's cool. The PTP1 does now you remind me of it. But I forgot.
Very interesting.

well all I know is that the custom settings have both a start time and an
end time. and there are other options like sound detection to. Now I don't
know how reliable any of that is as I don't use those features. In fact
sense I got my ls 100 I don't use the pocket for recording much at all. I
know that both the ptr2 and the pocket had those features. try them out and
see.
There is a clock on there for some reason.

Ah, thanks for letting us know that. I at least did not know that.
Weight, are you sure? What he wants is where you say I want you to
start recording at 7 and stop at 10 for instance. What I remember
plextalks having is where you either have it start as soon as you hit
the button, or when it hears some thing. Note the sound detection
thing didn't really work all that well from what I've seen.

I am wondering whether any of the hand held devices such as but not
limited to the VR Stream, the Plextalk pocket, and the Hims units
have some form of a recording timer.
Often, I wish to record something from the TV or the radio a program
which airs late at night, and I do not wish to change everything
around so as to connect to my computer. Presently, my only other
option is a talking VCR which is already obsolete, and at some point
can no longer be repaired. So, please tell me if other such options
are available.

 Thanks.

Blue Ray on Computer

2013-03-08 Thread Max G. Swanson
There must be programs for playback of BlueRay, but will they even
indicate the presence of a DVS track?

This could be another version of the paradox whereby we have DVS on a SAP
channel and no way to sightlessly open said sappy channel. Certainly
seems to be the case with Comcast cable boxes.

And now on to Fiscal Clif 2.0, then 2.01 ETC. Regards, Max!

RE: Blue Ray on Computer

2013-03-08 Thread Hamit Campos
There is Power DVED. I bring that one up first since it is the most commen
one, and there are others from Arksoft and the other gguys, but I don't know
all the names. As for DVS, well, someone will have to tell you if there is
one based on what is written on the BD's case. The newer virsions of Power
DVD get more and more inaccessible the newer you go though. The newest one
totally requires sighted assistance. I don't know if FS is aware of this.
