Winamp Scripts Version 4.0 for Window-Eyes are now Available
Hi all, Version 4.0 of the Winamp scripts for Window-eyes are now available. Below are the changes in this version of the scripts: • Window-Eyes 8.4 is required for this version of the Winamp app. • Made the startup processing of the Winamp app much faster. • By user request, the following items are now available as global hotkeys as long as the winamp window is open: • SpeakTotalTrackTime • SpeakCurrentPlayTime • SpeakCurrentPlayTimeRemaining • Make sure to enable this functionality in the Winamp App Preferences menu (Control-Shift-P) and in the Miscellaneous Settings dialog. • Time announcement changes: • All time announcements will no longer speak seconds if the value is 0. • Hours has been added as a part of the formatting for the displaying of time values for a track. • More refinements on time display have also been made to provide a richer speech response. • The App menu from the Menu Bar has been adjusted to provide menu items for each help topic available. • Fixed the loading of ACB Radio bookmarks since the release of the ACB Radio Tuner changed the XML location and format of the technical information. You can either get the scripts from http://tinyurl.com/ka7dso6 or by using the AppGet app (press Windows Key and G). If you haven't purchased Window-Eyes and you'd still like to try this app and you have a licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2010 or higher installed you can download a free copy of Window-Eyes at www.windoweyesforoffice.com Regards Steve.
Streaming of Australian Open tennis
Hi all, I'm aware of two internet streams of the Australian Open which may suit Kevin and others as an alternative to XM Radio. There is AO Radio from the Australian Open website and the ABC Radio Grandstand stream. The AO Radio is global and I think the ABC Grandstand stream is also. A convenient way to locate them may be from my web page under the Special Events heading. Phe url to my page is http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams Good luck, Stephen Jolley Melbourne Australia -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Barry Chapman Sent: Tuesday, 14 January 2014 4:38 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: What XM channel is broadcasting the Australian Open Tennis matches? It is also being streamed over the internet at http://2014.ausopen.com/en_AU/interactive/radio/index.html From that page, choose the radio link. I assume it is not geo-blocked for those outside Australia. Hi. To make this PC related, I use an XM PCR which connects to a PC via the USB port. It's pretty nice, displaying title and artist of the channels. Unfortunately, thanks to the infinite wisdom of the RIAA, it's not being made anymore. They were afraid people could record the station's content to their hard drives. Oh well, that's to explain why I sent this to the PC-Audio list. My question is what channel on XM is broadcasting the Australian Open Tennis? I can get it through ESPN, but I'd like a play by play of what's going on, and last year when I tuned in it was pretty good. Thanks for any help. GO CATS, GO SEAHAWKS and GO BRONCOS! Home radio setup
Hi there I'm keen to explore getting a setup at home that I can record radio shows that will be played out on another radio station. I currently use Audacity to simply make a multi track recording with the tracks and links in between. This works fine, but I feel it loses the feel of a live show. I would ideally like a small mixing desk and an accessible playout system that I could use to do a show as live. I'd record this using Audacity and then have a audio file I could upload. Any recommendations would be great. Bush Fires
H! Happy New Year to you all. Its that unfortunate and dangerous time of year again in Australia, in Victoria we're nearing the end of a week long heat wave and bush fires are a consequence of high winds, low humidity and hot conditions not to mention dry lightning strikes. So how can you actually monitor what's happening and you don't have a scanner? If you look in the iTunes store and you have an IOS device then you'll find many Apps which allow you to monitor the various emergency services in your area, monitoring these communications means that you are able to stay on top of what's going on in an emergency, make your plans as things change and evacuate where you deem it necessary. ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954
Grado Labs SR60I Headphones
Hi! I've finally been able to order a pair of these headphones which I linked to quite some time ago and we discussed here on the list. Those in Australia will be very pleased to know that these headphones - and the entire Grado range - are imported into the country and available at very reasonable prices, take a look at http://www.addictedtoaudio.com.au I ordered the cans yesterday so I should have them early next week, I had to phone order as their seems to be some slight accessibility issues with the checkout procedure on the web site. If I like these cans then I'll go for the top reference series. ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954
Notes On the CCrane 2 Enhanced Radio
I've had my set now for a fortnight so have had plenty of time to play with the radio. Firstly I'm very happy to state that - for 135 dollars U.S. - this radio offers excellent value for money and CCrane have done a superb job. The muting problems I mentioned when I last wrote about this set are a minor irritation but they certainly don't or won't stop me using this radio. The audio of the CC 2E is far better than that of the CC 2 and the CC2E does not overload, a nice, welcome and pleasant surprise. Sensitivity is very directional but good so be prepared to get into the habit of turning your CC 2E around often. The CC 2E has less background noise than the CC 2 but yet the sensitivity is still there though perhaps the 2E isn't quite as sensitive as the 2, I'd rather be using a 2E given its excellent audio on AM and its directionality which means its great for nulling out stations in order to pick up those weaker one's. FM is also something to write home about with this radio, its on a Par with such good performers as the Sangean PRD15 and the Sangean ATS909x, pulling in stations 100 miles away is no problem to do and they're heard with little background hiss or interference. Like the two other outstanding FM performers I've mentioned the CC 2E does a very nice job at receiving those weaker stations close to strong signals, we have a station here on 95.5 and there's a smaller transmitter 30 miles away on 95.7. Most other FM radios would simply not be able to receive or would ignore totally the 95.7 transmission but the CC 2E along with the Sangean PRD15 and ATS909X receive it as though it were a local station. Even though I had to pay $65.00 for shipping to Australia, I'm reaping the rewards from this very nice radio. ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954
