Issue with soundcards and playback using Audacity
Hi there Hoping someone can help. I'm baffled as to what's happening. I've got a laptop running the latest version of Audacity along with Jaws 14. I'm also using a USB Blue Yeti microphone which I plug headphones into. I've got JAWS going through the microphone, checked through the sound card menu with JAWS utilities. I've also checked the Blue Yeti mic in the input and output devices in Audacity. The issue I have is when I import a track into Audacity and hit play JAWS vanishes. The track plays, but JAWS goes silent. If I unplug the mic and put it straight back in again then JAWS is back through the headphones. There's obviously an issue with the playback options, but I'm honestly at a loss what it might be. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. RE: Issue with soundcards and playback using Audacity
Nope. That hasn't worked. There's no effects tab either. Strange thing I've noticed now as well is that JAWS only knocks off after a number of seconds. If I hit play within Audacity and only let it go for about four seconds it's fine. Any longer and it goes. The simple workaround is to unplug the USB mic all the time, but this is annoying and will wear down the USB hub connector eventually. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Steve Nutt Sent: 21 January 2014 10:13 To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: Issue with soundcards and playback using Audacity Hi, Go to the soundcard's properties. RE: Issue with soundcards and playback using Audacity
I think I've fixed it...sort of. I've just had to use the laptop on board soundcard for JAWS and just use the mic for inputting. It works OK, although I can't monitor the sound levels through headphones as I go. Still pretty OK though. Re: spotify
If you use JAWS? I remember reading on this list that someone had written scripts for Spotify? Spotify on Android and on IOS works just fine though note there's a difference in the layout of the iPad and iPhone versions of the App, mainly due to the fact that the iPad can display far more information at any one time due to its bigger screen. You could also look for a device that has Spotify built-in to the firmware, such devices include the Logitech Ultimate Ears Radio, Denon AVR2113 Receiver etc. On 22 Jan 2014, at 6:09 am, Steve Nutt st...@comproom.co.uk wrote: Hi, You're best with Android or iPhone. hi, Not to be rude or anything. But they told me the same thing a year ago. :-) Nothing happens. I mean. How hard can it be? They're making lots and lots of money, so why don't they fix this little thingy? They cost a pittance and work pretty well. Here is the URL : http://www.spotifyblind.com/ There is a contact link, on the page. War Of The Worlds 50th, October 30 1988
Hi! Sampling all my tapes before they're finally thrown into the recycle bin, need to make room smile. The following is a NPR production of the War Of The Worlds play, a cover of the original broadcast in 1938. The broadcast was played on ABC FM here in Australia. Managed to record it though conditions in those days weren't like anything we know today, was using a cassette deck with Dolby C though I do think the results are perfectly acceptable. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10565527/War%20Of%20The%20Worlds%2050th%20-%20October%2030%201988.mp3 ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954
