Re: Victor Reader Stream Upgrade
So can the Victor Reader Stream handle flash streams like most other portable Internet Radio devices can? If it can then I'll certainly look at buying one. One thing than can be said about the new Victor Reader Stream is that it has a far better speaker than the older model but then again, what doesn't! I'm looking at Daisy players at the moment, the Plextalk Pocket looks a very attractive option still even though the processor isn't as good as that found in the Stream, dealers tell me that still the firmware is far better. The Milestone is also something I'm considering, Bluetooth connectivity is very appealing. If you're looking at the Plextalk I'd be looking at the Linio Pocket has 8GB internal memory plus will supportDaisy online in Australia. Is still the most accessible and best quality recorder. Ah now that's impressive but not at all surprising, I'm a fan of Sense products and I own a Voice Sense which - even though is nearly 6 years old - is still amazing in what it can do Audio wise and just about everything else type wise smile, using it in conjunction with my Mac now to write this eMail, using the Voice Sense as a Bluetooth Braille keyboard. Anyway thanks for bringing us up to speed with what Hims Inc are up to, will be worth waiting a little longer then. Good point! certainly you wouldn't want one of the earlier models. My only explanation is that sometimes you need more than one device at your disposal, its a bit like the iPhone and the iPod, you want to play music, read books or whatever on your iPod but keep the battery charged on your iPhone for those important calls, in other words horses for courses smile, point well taken all the same and yes, iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S4 phones etc do make the Victor Reader Stream seem very fossilised indeed! If it can then I'll certainly look at buying one. The new Stream now has the loudest speaker but the Pocket is still the most accessible recorder and best quality in my view. Jamie One thing than can be said about the new Victor Reader Stream is that it has a far better speaker than the older model but then again, what doesn't! I'm looking at Daisy players at the moment, the Plextalk Pocket looks a very attractive option still even though the processor isn't as good as that found in the Stream, dealers tell me that still the firmware is far better. two questions or three. first question the boom arm it attaches to my desk via a clip right? if this is the way it attaches, won't the humming from the fan under the desk still come through because of the boom arm is attached? second question, can I get any boom arm or one that is made for the blue yeti pro. third and last question, sorry if this sounds dumb, will I have to take the yeti off the desk stand or can I attach it to the boom arm as is. thanks so much again. - Original Message - From: tim cumings thcumi...@comcast.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 3:47 PM Subject: Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro. you can get a boom arm for $50. - Original Message - From: angel.adorno1 angel.ador...@verizon.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 6:33 AM Subject: Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro. Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro.
also you may wish to change patterns, or if recording in stereo, from the microphone, the best solution is isolation from the hum source, and I do mean vibration, since the Yetti seems to be prone to it. I truly do love mine! One other thing is to record at a lower volume level and see if that cuts down on acoustic hum as well, or use a 120Hz filter in your audio software. I made one in Sound Forge, copying the data from the 60Hz one and changing the frequencies to 120Hz. I did that for 50Hz also for European and Canadian recordings which have hum. -- Curtis Delzer. Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro.
Hi Angel and Everyone, I was waiting to see if someone would bring this up. Yes, you will still get a hum because the boom arm is attached to the desk. And, yes, I am hoping, if you want to use a boom, that there is one specifically for the Blue Yeti. It is a Heavy and Expensive Mic, and I, myself, would not use a boom. I would sit it, as has been previously suggested, on a piece of foam. Now, if you do not have foam, you might be able to use a soft covered Braille book instead. I also would not detach the Yeti from the desk stand. The desk stand is quite sturdy, and meant to hold this Expensive Professional Mic. I hope that this helps. By the way, we had a foot of snow two weeks ago, followed by six inches a few days later, followed by a foot a few days later and then 24 inches three days ago. I don't know what that is in meters. If it can then I'll certainly look at buying one. hi: humanware uses ootunes. Using the in-built wireless facility users now have the capability of accessing on-line radio. Hopefully current VRS users have received notification of this change. The upgrade can be installed using the update facility of the VRS or can be downloaded from the Humanware site and then installed.
