Hi sunshine, i don't use balabolka, because some months ago i tried to use it, but couldn't make it work. i didn't know that i needed the lame incoder, and had no friend who was using it. i am now using text to mp3. i have only converted one file. it was 525,898 bytes long. how big is the file you are trying to convert with balabolka. brian.

Hi Tom, you are having a similar problem I had while trying to play a movie. the movie had an AVI extension, so I thought winamp would play it, no soap. it would come up in winamp but wouldn't play. Hi Gary: And therein lies the problem (I cannot find anything in Quicktime that deals with file associations (maybe it's there and my screen reader (Jaws 15) won't pick it up; maybe Quicktime doesn't allow such a thing (it wants to do it all) hopefully this is not the case, for that means (once I get the video I'm supposed to get) if it really is true that it will only play in Quicktime, then I have to only download Quicktime when I want to watch the video; then remove it from my system as I cannot have a situation where some program won't let me download things! I took Quick time out of my machine because of that. I did the same thing you did. I had something I needed to watch. I took it out as soon as I was done. The problem is that it isn't easy to remove. Yes and the other problem is that this is going to be something I would like to share with my friends; it would seem that the only way to do this is for them to put Quicktime on their machine; then...they'll have exactly the same problem! This video will probably be something I'll want to see again! But it'd be a major pain to (whenever I wanted to watch it) reinstall Quicktime; then delete it when I'm done! You can set the default program for any file extension in Windows, this should take care of your problem, it also depends on the mime type being sent from the website. You can always do a save target as in the right click menu on the link instead of just hitting enter as well. I tried that "save target" thing; no soap! Quicktime just jumps right in! As for this "default program" thing: that seems to either not work for me or I don't understand how I'm supposed to work with it! Meanwhile (at least for now) I have removed MR. Quicktime! I may reinstall it (once the video in question has been delivered) but there was yet another archived show I wanted to download (Quicktime once again intrephered) I had a discussion with a friend of mine last night who told me that he was afraid it was just going to cause more trouble with me being able to download things; since I cannot see a "file association" thing in Quickttime, I decided that (at least for now) that Quicktime was gonna have to go! Thanks all for your suggestions and am willing to listen to more, for my fear is that Quicktime may be the only player that will work with this video as it was taken with an Android smart phone!
