FLAC is used because its far smaller than Wave and lossless though FLAC is

The upshot of all this is that you get the full sound you'd get with FLAC as

The joke is that MP3 files - some I've seen - have been done using minimum

Re: FLAC Files was Time To Purchase FLAC?

2014-10-04 Thread Dane Trethowan
I've nover used OGG, I know some people use nothing but OGG but its all the
same, OGG, MP3, AAC and so on are Lossee formats, that is data is made
redundant when they are created thus the quality of the compressed file has
been compremised whereas FLAC is Lossless and no loss of audio quality occurs
when these files are created.

Of course, one can optimise MP3 files etc to ensure that minimum loss of audio
quality takes place .

 Hi!

I haven't played with FaceTime for quite some time so I wasn't aware of
the some of the settings available.

One of great interest is the output audio selection either automatic,
 speaker or Headset.

I've just been chatting to someone on FaceTime using my Yamaha MXP100
Heads Free music system, as its a Bluetooth 4 device the quality of audio
between us was very good indeed! as was the noise cancellation effect, I
was sitting in my kitchen with my fridge doing its job and the person I
was chatting to had alarms going ooff, phones ringing and God knwos what
else happening, I did hear the odd click as the noise cancellation system
did its thing but apart from that the call was dead silent apart from the
 conversation being conducted, pure magic.
I've not played with Skype for IOS but do intend to in the coming days as
I'm interested to see whether Skype will handle such devices as the Yamaha
MPX100 as well as FaceTime obviously does,.

And finally, both of us in our chat were using hands free devices, me the
aforementioned Yamaha device and the other party used their iPHone in
Hands free mode, we both commented just how clear the whole thing was and
how we wouldn't have known that we were both using hands free systems.

Re: Time To Purchase FLAC?

2014-10-04 Thread Dane Trethowan
There's no such thing as a Lossless MP3 player, MP3 is a Lossee format meaning
that - by the nature of the encoding and compression - much of the data of the
original content compressed is thrown away.

Now if you're wondering how I play FLAC files? Well the players and
possibilities are pretty much limitless round here now.

Obviously my Denon AVR2113 Surround-Sound receiver handles them, various Apps I
have on the iPhone play them, the Yamaha CDN500 CD/Network/Media Player handles
FLAC files etc.

RE: Free CD Ripping Program

2014-10-04 Thread Dan Kerstetter
Hello Alexandra.

I'll look for the older version. The newest one has problems accessing any
data base. I'm very surprised at this. I've always used it in the past and
installed this new version on my recently acquired Windows 7 machine.

Thanks.

Dan

Hi Dan,

Could you say why you're not happy with CDEx? I don't think that there's a
problem that couldn't be solved with CDEx. I'd recommend you use the 1.70
Beta 2 though because that doesn't have any flaws compared to the later
versions of CDEx.

Take care
Alexandra

I'm looking for a program for CD ripping. I have the latest versions of
Express rip and CdEx and am not happy with the way either one works.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

Dan

Personally I like iTunes; however, I'm making this inquiry on behalf of a
friend who wants to rip CD's but not have them go into the iTunes library.

As for exact audio copy, I like it but have never been able to configure the
file naming properly.

Thanks for the input.

Dan

Stupid question I'm sure but have you tried iTunes?

If you're looking for the best CD Ripper on the Planet then you can always
try Exact Audio Copy, haven't used it in a while though as I usually use my
Mac for that sort of thing these days or I use Easy CD Audio Converter I
think its called these days, I bought a lifetime licence for the product but
I think there's a free version of that available? Someone might correct me
on that please.

No sir. I was just saying I didn't realize they did other formats too. Since
all I keep hearing about is the WAV files.

No reason why you can't have HD music in different formats.

I have iTunes for Windows 11.4. It's very easy and accessible.
