My opinion only, but please check out Groups.io if you want a stable and
reliable host. The web interface is fully accessible on all platforms, and Mr
Fletcher who runs Groups.io is very committed to that. I have lists of my own
on there and can't say I had any problems at all. Anything I do have Mr
Fletcher is only an email away, either privately or on his Beta group which
talks about new and improved features to the site. After all that, I should
give out the URL *smile*. It is

Can VLC get you from "point A" to "Point B" in a file? That's one of the
things I loved (still love) about Winamp (and I'm not talking just about
"hitting the arrow key and finding it manually) with Winamp, you can
actually go to a certain spot in a file; this comes in handy...let's say
you've been listening to a long program (and you can't finish right then and
there) Winamp has the ability to let you see where you are in the file; then
you can come right back to it the next time you want to listen to that
particular show!

another issue has come up

2015-05-27 Thread Mike Bernard
Hello again everyone,

I finally got Winamp 5.666 back up and running again, however, now I'm in
the process of trying to setup my encoders in sam. The only problem is, you
know how when you select the new ins options from the applications menu and
choose mp3 and mp3 pro? This is where I'm having trouble. There's usually a
focuss issue with that window, and so what I do is press spacebar on mp3 and
mp3 pro, and then using my numpad arrows, I press numpad 3 to move the
virtual mouse down to the bottom right, then press insert numpad 7 until I
get to the ok an cancel buttons, and left-click on ok, which normally takes
me into the next window, where I can select options for the server
information, converter, streaming bit rate ETC. However, for some reason, I
can't seem to get to the ok or cancel buttons. I know that they are present
on the screen, but I can seem to get to them accessibly. What can I do?

Mike

Rochester, NY.

P.S. other than this minor issue with sam encoder, (at least I hope it's
minor), winamp is working fine otherwise.

Re: Winamp is making me mad

2015-05-27 Thread Dane Trethowan
As Peter said earlier, use what you want but bare in mind if you do and
you get yourself into a pickle with Winamp then don't expect too much
support for a product that's no longer being developed.

I bought a Winamp Pro licence and I was very glad I did but that was
quite some time ago.

I think my main annoyance about Winamp is not the software itself -
though it has its problems - but the absolute twaddle talked about
Winamp, its the only solution for blind people, we need to sign a
partition to pressure AOL into continued development, there's no
accessible alternative and so it went on.

I liked Winamp because it was versatile however the software started
big, bloated and damn unreliable in the last few years I used it, so
much so that I had to look for an alternative player, I very much liked
Windows media Player but unfortunately WMP wouldn't play a lot of
formats that I took for granted when using Winamp, the next choice then
for me was VLC.

As for VLC not handling Bookmarks? Well again, more piffle.

Mike,

here's what I do.

Start the sam encoders.

press the application key, and select "new ins."
If you have an encoder set already, and focus is on that one, select config.

If you are on a new instance, then as you have done, select mp3 and mp3 pro.
Then after hitting the ok button, You should be in a converter window, which
is one of three.the other tabs are server details and stream archive.

If you don't see these tab controls, then something may be wrong with the
installation.

Did you enter the authorization key or whatever they call it in sam?

good luck

Hi Joe,
Got everything back up and running now. Something nutty was happening with
the encoders somewhere. The general manager at ACB Radio tapped into my
computer using Jaws and got everything straightened out.
