Re: FM transmitters

2005-12-21 Thread AB7HW Dick Lee Chrisman
I have one of the C Crane FM transmitters and wonder what adjustment that
kicks butt you speak of? I think the only adjustment mine has is to change
the output frequency, maybe I am missing something?
My unit is about three years old does that matter?

Iriver model H-10C

2005-12-21 Thread AB7HW Dick Lee Chrisman
Are any of you using the Iriver H-10C model? I am able to load and unload
Music or MP3 files with no trouble, I can play the Music, I can with a
little work get to the FM Radio, that is about what I am able to do.
The unit has a small number of buttons about 7 so that simplifies the
selections of buttons.
Problem is there is no tone or Beep to indicate any changes when you press
the buttons.
I have only had the unit for about 1 week, so much to learn.
It is to early to put in a third party Firmware because of Warranty issues,
plus I don't think there is any available.
I would look forward to hearing from anyone that is using the Iriver H-10C
series of players.

Re: Hard Disk-based MP3 Player, Iriver

2006-01-18 Thread AB7HW Dick Lee Chrisman
I use a Iriver H-10C 20GB MP3 player and it comes up on my computer as
another drive allowing me to copy MP3 files to the drive and to erase any
that I don't want. I have no special software installed to do this, it is
the way Iriver MP3 players work with window XP.
I do not have the rockbox software installed, I don' think rockbox has any
software for my player.
I have learned to use the Iriver player by memorizing the needed keys to
push. I don't use the Radio or Recorder I just play MP3 files, I just got
the player for Christmas.

Re: Hard Disk-based MP3 Player, Iriver

2006-01-19 Thread AB7HW Dick Lee Chrisman
Hello Michael
The Iriver H-10C only has a few buttons that are easy to touch, they stand
out above the surface of the unit.
1. On and Off button this button is the easyest one to press accidentally,
but only if someone takes it out of your hands to see what the display says.
2. Play and Pause which requires a firm press
The only two other buttons are flesh with the surface and can't be pressed
accidentally with out some work.
Hope that answers your question?

Dick, I read, that the H10 has a touchpad. Do you sometimes accidentally
touch it and execute functions, which you didn't want to? Or isn't the
touchpad totally touch sensitive, so that you at least have to press a
bit onto it, to execute a function?

Re: Hard Disk-based MP3 PlayerIriver/JAWS

2006-01-19 Thread AB7HW Dick Lee Chrisman
Hello Michael
Of course I use JAWS to put new MP3 material on and off the Iriver player.
Now to your question.
The H-10C player uses a valley between the two internal batteries which
works as a touch sensitive area that you put your finger on and slide it up
and down to change the volume, to change FM Radio stations and to view the
selection of MP3 files on the unit and it lets you select Music, Record or
FM Radio so it serves many functions.
If you could read the list of music files on the unit as you slide your
finger up and down to view the list you would push the Select button and it
would play that song. As I use it the music starts and there is a forward
and reverse button on either side of the Pause/Play button and I simply
press one of these to select another song.
I use the select button to choose "all" and it plays every thing on the
unit!
There is no audible Beeps or any indication when you change any thing or
press a button.
I don't think it has a sleep mode, but can't swear to that.

Thanks for your reply Dick. Do you also press buttons to navigate in the
menu or do you have to use a touch sensitive area of the player for
that?

Do you sometimes have to press a key twice, because the display has
turned itself off and the first key press just makes it wake up? This is
the case on the H320 and H340.

Does the H10 beep, when one presses a key?

Thanks again
