Re: Iriver IFP-799 question.

2005-06-20 Thread Alf
When you turn on the player by default you whould be in the mp3 menu which
allows you to paly mp3's. By default you ahve 2 folders on the player,
record and voice, If you put some other folder with mp3's that will be in
the list as well. First, you should posision your self with lef and right
errow keys and press enter or better to say jjoystick inside to enter in the
folder which you wish. However if something goes wrong for the first time,
just press play and the mp3's will start playing so you can go with left and
right keys between the songs. When you pass the last song of the folder it
will go on the next folder automatically. So in order to get out of the
folder, and go to the next one, while the song plays press jjoystick inside
and left errow once. That will get you out to the folder which plays now. If
you errow with left and right keys than you are changing the folders. When
you find a folder which you want just press enter and you will get a beep
that you switched on that new folder and it wil start playing.

I have it, and it works perfect for me. You need about an hour or to ajust
on it but at the end its simple to use. Just make sure if you decide to take
it, that you change its firmware to an UMS version. With that firmware you
will be able to use the player as a regular usb drive, or otherwise you will
not be able to transfer all files to the player and from the player.

Re: Decisions, decisions! Anapod explorer or Muvo?

2005-03-19 Thread Alf
Chris:
I can't tell you anything about ipod shuffle and anapot explorer, because in
the last moment i bought iriver ifp 799 1 gb player and really i recommend
it to anyone. At the beginning i had a problems with its software and its
accsesibility because i couldn't see the player as a regular usb removable
drive, but after upgrading on to a newer firmware with ums support i use
this thingy every day. Exept very good and easy navigation system between
tracks and folders what really surprised me was qualitty of its recording
features. The built in microphone really records very nice for voice
recordings. However if the signal is to strong than the recording becomes
distorted. But, that's why we have line in jack for what ever line in
device. Its possible to choose between external microphone or line recording
were we can connect a cd player or what ever device. We can also choose a
different recording level for line in which i find very useful, With some
external stereo mick the recording just sounds very nice and clean , and its
possible to record up to 13 hours on a 1 gig. Baterry life is much longer
than on ipod shuffle and it can last untill 30 hours which is also a big +
for iriver.
Before i bought it i was also thinking about creative muvo but when i saw it
hold it in my hands and red reviews about it + technical specs i definitly
went for this small monster.

problems with iriver music manager

2005-03-07 Thread Alf
Hey all.
I bought iriver ifp-799 usb flash mp3 player. Its features are very good and
its quite easy to learn how to work with it as a blidn user. However i got
into a problem by using iriver music manager program, which can transfer
files from the pc in to a player and from a player into a pc. The problem is
that the standard keyboard shortcuts for copy and paste in the music manager
doesn't work. Sited people can do that with drag and drop feature, but when
i tryed to use it with jaws i didn't get any positive result.
In the software there is an file transfering wizard which can transfer files
from a pc to the player, but from what i found out it can't transfer from a
player to the pc, so the user has to drag and drop files in order to do
that.
Is there anything that could help with the problem?
I just wrote to the iriver and sed that the software needs small
improovements to become fully accsesible and i'm waiting for their reply.

Of course you can turn off the shuffle feature. There's a slide switch on
the back of the player for power off, shuffle and no shuffle.

For the last few days i'm searching for an mp3 player which could be also

can't turn of its built in shuffel feature that i can play tracks

4 gb of space on its hard drive. Now the question is, is the device
compleetly accsesible for us, and can we use it. Is it complecated to
make voice recordings on it? Write everything you can about it, or send

Re: Ipod Shuffle

2005-02-21 Thread Alf
As far as i know, any ipod will not work with windows explorer for
transfering music and after listening it, because ipod makes special
database where the tracks are stored that its possible to listen to them.
However i also found that anapod explorer will be updated for ipod shuffle
support. I also found a free program called vpod which transfers music files
from ipod to pc and from pc to ipod, but the last version came out in 2003.
I contacted the author of the program so in a short time i hope that the
answer will be positive about ipod shuffle. Anyway i'll drop info on the
list.

iriver ifp 700 series question

2005-02-16 Thread Alf
Hello everyone.
I'm thinking about the solution to buy flash USB mp3 player. Since ipod
shuffle didn't arive in my country i can't get it, and if i would buy it
from internet that would cost me the same as iriver ifp 799 1gb usb flash
mp3 player which i can get it over here in Croatia.
Now my question is, did anyone had a chance to work with 700 series iriver
players and are they accsesible enough. I downloaded pdf manual for the
iriver 700 series mp3 players but so far i wasn't successful with reading it
so i can't say anything.
Last feature which interests me is a solution of voice recording with those
players. How it works and do i need an external microphone to record
something.
Reguards.

Subject: RE: MP3 Ipod

Hello,
I won an Ipod at work and have been able to get it somewhat functional. The
first step was to ditch the Itunes software, which I found totally unusable.
There is a peace of software called Anapod Explorer put out by RedChair
software which works like a dream. The URL is
www.redchairsoftware.com
and
It organizes the Ipod in to folders and puts an icon on your desktop which
you basically access like just another folder in My Computer. You can
either copy/paste or send-to files to this window just like you can a folder
on your hard drive, and Anapod even lets you manipulate playlists in an
intuitive manner. It doesn't insist on synchronizing the Ipod with a
library on your computer as Itunes apparently does. The documentation is
called the Omnitome and is on their website.

In terms of using the device itself, I found that the remote control is
far the easiest interface. There are definite buttons for play/pause,
previous and next. You press down on the prev. and next buttons to fast
forward or rewind through a selection. I have had limited success in using
the unit itself by counting the audible clicks emitted by the Ipod when you
access the touch wheel. The second selection on the menu is playlists and
then you touch the middle button for enter. If you numerically sequence
your playlists in Anapod, you can then count clicks to the playlist you
want, enter, then either touch the top of the wheel to play or use the play
button on the remote. Not the easiest interface in the world to use, but
with a little elbow grease, it can be made to cooperate a little. I highly
recommend that anyone interested in using an Ipod check out Anapod explorer.
I also found it essential to sit with a sighted person enough to get some
guidance in figuring out the interface. Hope these remarks are helpful.
