Hey Brett. Thanks for all the info. It's nice to see that this fine-seeming
programme has some fans here. However it doesn't seem that it's designed for

video playbacka shame as that's really what I was after, but I'm glad to

have discovered Foobar anyway as it seems pretty neat all round. Not sure if

it'll be replacing winamp for me but we'll see! I'm glad you sent some
explanatory stuff as a cursory look at the setup trees in Foobar left me a
little nonplussed...however I've succeeded in getting music to play and am
impressed by the amount of plugins available and note that they seem pretty
well organised and documented.

in the meantime I'm probably best off to attempt VLC for my video needs.

Hi would you be willing to give ma a hand on how to set hot keys and
also winch ones did you set and then how did you make them work once you
had it all set?
I am new to foobar and want to try it out for at least playing my MP3
files cause they all are nice and loud threw it instead of.
Some being louder then other in win amp and some are quieter then others
in win amp as well.
Were foobar as you know keeps them all the same level.
So if you can assist me with foobar that would be a very big help.
Thank you ahead of time for any assistance that I may get.

Hi all,

I'm using a Creative sound blaster X-FI sound card.

I want to connect a Mackie 802 mixer to the sound card.

I know there are three rows of two sockets on this card.

Does anyone know which is the line in and line out sockets on this card?

Sorry, I just don't have a pair of eyes around at the mo to check.

Hey. I don't know the latest winamp version but I seem to recall some kind

I could be wrong or the plugin could be out-of-date.

Hi. I have a feeling winamp is going to be your friend through this.
First of all most karaoke songs use standard mp3's with a cdg file which
is the video file containing lyrics. With winamp and a few plugins it is
possible to have everything ready to go in one shot. Plus, using the
winamps jump feature you can jump to whatever song a person wants to
sing. It's most likely going to be the most accessible way of doing
this.
I'm not sure about .kar files but I suspect they're midi files with
lyrics built-in. If this is all you have to work with the file sizes
will be considerably smaller. The advantage over the mp3 / cdg files is
that the music is authentic and usually contains backing vocals as well.
I think this is a .kar player for winamp as well. Again winamp is kind
of the standard for most people because it's so easy to use and
manipulate. The few karaoke player I have used were not accessible or
were very hard to access using mouse keys and such.

Good luck!

Here's the big problem, how are you going to get the lyrics up for the
singer to see them? In many situations, there's a screen that has the
lyrics so the person can refer to them while sining.
