problem with skype answerphone

2004-12-04 Thread Danielle Cleary
Hi,

I realise this program is only a beta, but I was wondering if anyone has
seen this happen, and if so, if they know how to deal with it?

I installed skype answer phone yesterday, after someone very kindly sent it
to me. The problem I have, is that the program won't do what it's supposed
to do as it is telling me that a user is not logged in to skype. This is
blatantly not they case however and I am unsure as to whether I can do
anything about this?

If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd be very grateful to hear from them.

Thanks,

Danielle

Hi,

Well, we've found the problem then. I have never had such a window so it's
obviously just not recognising it at all. I would imagine there's not much I
can do about this?

What you have to do is make sure that the answering machine is associated
with Skype. Start up skype first and then start up the answering machine.
You should see the property's window for the answering machine but also you
should see a skype window that will have radio buttons to ask you how you
want this answering machine to connect. Once you set the radio button tell
that window ok and you'll be good to go.

Skype answering machine?

2004-12-03 Thread Danielle Cleary
Hi,

Somebody posted the url for a skype answering machine on here a little while
ago? I tried to get to the website, and it crashed my jaws. I tried again
and it crashed my computer. Stupid me deleted the email and when I
restarted, the link had gone from the clipboard obviously. I was wondering
if anyone who can seem to access the website, would perhaps be so kind to
email me the program? As an attachment?

Thanks,

Hi,

Well, I've solved all of the problems that I've had with total recorder so
far thanks to all of you people. Just one more question though?

I found how to schedule record but I don't see an option to tell it what to
record from? Does that mean, that if I wanted to record a radio show, I'd
just have to leave it streaming so that total recorder could kick in when
it's meant to? Or is there a way to specify which software to record from or
what url to use?

Hoping someone can help me.

Thanks a lot,

Danielle,

There is a way to use Total Recorder with Skype, but it is a little
complicated. By the way, are you having the same trouble, that I have,
where you can't get very many clear answers, from the manual on Total
Recorder, or from the on line help? It seems to be quite a daunting thing,
to go through all of the different help functions, to get to some succinct
instructions, on how to just punch in and run this program, isn't it?

Anyway, give me a day and if I can help you run Skype, with T R, I will
certainly try, OK?

Thanks for your patience,

Alternative to total recorder?

2004-11-28 Thread Danielle Cleary
Hi All,

I am currently using total recorder version 4 and think that it's a fairly
good piece of software, due to the fact that it records direct streaming
from the internet as opposed to recording all output from the sound card.
However, I am wondering if anyone out there knows of an alternative program
that will do the same thing? The reason I ask is that I have found that it
is clashing with skype. I can not use skype at all unless I uninstall total
recorder. Seeing as I use total recorder every day at some point,
uninstalling and re-installing is incredibly tiresome and I'd like to find a
way around this if possible.

If anyone can help me with this at all, I'd be very glad to hear from you.

Thanks,

Re: nero or cd burning question

2004-11-28 Thread Danielle Cleary
Hi Tom,

Yes, you are right in thinking that it will depend on how old the said cd
player is as to whether it will play the cd's. It tends to only be newer cd
players, in my experience from the year 2000 onward, and dvd players that
will play burned or copied cds.

I'm not sure if this is in keeping with the subject line here. But I just
had something happen that's..well..kind of along this same line; a friend of
mine burned a CD for me..one that he had bought. It won't play on my CD
player that is hooked to my stereo receiver; for that matter..it doesn't
seem to want to play in the CD player in the bomb box! After checking this
out..I discovered that the CD he used is a CDRW! Does this account for why
it didn't burn correctly? The CD will play on my computer..but doesn't seem
to want to play on my other CD players. I have also heard that..how
slow..or how fast..you burn a CD can have a baring on whether a CD will play
on a conventional CD player. Insidently..the CD player I have back here is
an old Sony that I got for Christmas in either 90 or 91. I'm told that this
can make a difference. Is this correct?

Do you have Total Recorder's driver loaded and operational at all times?
The Total Recorder driver is not multi-channel, and I suspect Skype
requires that kind of full duplex capability to work properly.

Before you give up on mediarecorder you want to make sure that the station
your trying to record is indeed up and running or you will get that error.
Also you do need to set up the length of time you want to record. You can't
just launch the program and press the record button. It doesn't work that
way.

are under a misconception about what Total Recorder does. If you're
looking for a program to record, say, an MP3 stream off the Net and save

Danielle, replay radio is designed to be a recorder for streaming audio with
emphasis on streaming radio on the net. I will, however, also record from

cds, mike, and most of your other input devices. I do not know how well it
works with any of these because I have only used it for streaming audio.
all of the buttons require use of the spacebar rather than the enter key.
It lacks fancy editing features, but it records at several levels of MP3,
wav, and perhaps another that I don't remember at the moment. It also
includes a player although I prefer to move my recordings and read them
later with winamp. You can find out more from the web site

www.replay-radio.com

there is a hyphen between the replay and radio.
