Re: Not seeing attached audio files.

2004-11-05 Thread Jaffar Sidek
Hi Mike and all. Go to tools, options. Press Control+tab until you hear
Security. Then tab to the check box that says something like "do not open
attachments that might cause harm to your computer". By default, that box
is checked. Uncheck it, tab to the apply button and hit it, then press ok.
You should be able to recieve and see all attachments from then on. Cheers!

No they were not. I have received many files from this
sender, but this is the first time I've had this problem. The message
says attachment, but there's no file, when I go to look for it.

Hey Mike, were the files sent from users of AOL servers?
I have the same problem & they're all from people using AOL.
Don't know what the solution is.

Hi folks! Using windows XP SP2, and I think my problem has something to
do
with that. someone has sent me a couple of attachments, but I can't see
them. The message says there's an attached file, but when I open the
message up, no file found. I don't see it. This is aggravating. Any
suggestions!

Re: Help with converting music

2004-10-27 Thread Jaffar Sidek
Hi John. Your best bet would be to encode them all to the WMA or Windows
media audio format. This format, though smaller then mp3 in size, produces
quite reasonable results. The only snag i can see is that if you wanted to
play them on a device such as an mp3 player, it would have to have WMA
support, or you won't be able to access your music from anything else but
from your pc only. Cheers!

Need advice on universities offering music technology course around the los angelis area.

2004-08-24 Thread Jaffar Sidek
Hi all. I hope Jeff our moderator doesn't mind, but as Music technology is audio
related, and we are rather desperate, I figure that perhaps any list member living
around the Los Angeles area can help me with this. My very good friend's daughter is
wanting to take a course in music technology, and she especially wants to choose the
Universities around the Los Angeles area because her aunt resides there. We would
also like to look for a uni which offers this course at a reasonable fee, perhaps 20 k
per semester, simply because the conversion rate from Singapore to the US currency is
around $1.80 to the US dollar. If there are any of you living around the Los Angeles
area, and you are aware of such an institution, Please contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
with such details as Uni name, website and telephone number if any. Thanking you all
in advance for your help.

Re: Tv Tuner Cards

2004-08-23 Thread Jaffar Sidek
Hi. I really can't tell you if these things are accessible with jaws
because i've never had the chance to use it with my Pinnacle card. As for
onscreen headlines, yes, i've tried it before and it works a charm. Btw, I
went over to the website yesterday, and I read that they've resolved the
issue with the sound blaster series. But their advice is that end users
should use it with the audigi series rather then the sblive series. Cheers!

Can I expand this a little? If they work with Window Eyes does this mean
they'll be fairly Jaws friendly.
I have an Asus FM/TV tuner card which worked quite well for a while (now
stopped for no reason) I did how3ever find the Power VCR software very
difficult as it was accessible but only in certain parts and relied upon
the Jaws cursor a lot. I hagve also heard that the Hauppage software is
good - as good as the Pinnacle though?

Also do any of these programs allow us to access an EPG on a website so
that we can choose a programme and have it recorded easily?

One final question. What is the name of the Pinnacle card and software and
if anyone has a Hauppage one what is its name and number?

Thanks.

Hi. I have a Pinnacle card. Yes, the software is very accessible with
window eyes, and i too am a window eyes user. However, i've heard that
because these cards take up alot of resources, and so does the SBLive
series, there is often a conflict between the 2. I myself have a delta
10-10 installed, and the delta and the Pinnicle seems to have struck up a
very good relationship. Also, there was a time when your pc would hang
if you were watching tv for like a couple of hours, and the pc was
inactive and the screen saver came into effect. This bug seems to have
been squashed, and i can now watch tv, check my mail, and concentrate on
learning programming, all at the same time without fear of my pc hanging.
Also, and this is very important, i can access all the broadcasts,
whether they be on VHF, UHF or cable. All in all, I am extremely happy
with my Pinnacle tv tuner card. Cheers!

I've been chatting about software that drives tv tuner cards and I'd be
interested if you own one to please tell us of your experience. I
understand for example that Pinacle makes a great tv tuner card and the
software is quite accessible with Window-eyes. Another company that
makes
fairly accessible software to control the tv tuner card is Leadtek so I
understand. I'd be interested to know your experience if you own one of
these tv tuner cards. For example some tv chanels scroll such things as
news headlines on the screen. My friend who uses the Pinacle software
tells
me that through a web page He can actually read these headlines and so
forth.

ordering winamp pro

2004-08-08 Thread Jaffar Sidek
Hi folks. I am seeking help from any of you who possesses either a paypal account or
any internet credit card account that will allow a transfer of funds. I am trying to
purchase winamp 5.04 pro. Unfortunately, when I click the order link, i get an error
message saying that the product is not sold in my area and that I'll have to contact a
local vendor for what I want to purchase, which is actually very wierd indeed.
Anyway, what I need is someone with a paypal account or a credit card account to help
me purchase the product in question, and then I will transfer the cost via my wife's
paypal account back to my benefactor, as it were. Any help in this matter will be
greatly appreciated. So as not to clutter the list, whoever agrees to carry out the
transaction on my behalf should contact me privately at [EMAIL PROTECTED] with all the
details so a smooth transfer can proceed. Thanks for your help in this matter.
Cheers
