Hello, I was wondering if any of you is able to guide me in the following
direction. I was wondering if there was some sort of accessible dj
sorftware

that I can use with Jaws 11 and windows 7 ultimate? I'm currently using
winamp, but the issue I'm having is that when I try cuing upa file,
there's
no option that allows me to cue up songs within winamp. When I was using
xp

home with windows media player 10, I had that option available to me. Any
suggestions or ideas are very much appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure how cludgy this solution is but Jabra makes a device called the
cruiser which is primarily designed for use in cars with Bluetoooth cell
phones but what it will do is take a Bluetooth stereo output and
rebroadcast it to a FM receiver. The idea is that when a call comes in
you can turn the Jabra on and hear the output from the phone on your
cars FM stereo. It could also be used at home to take Bluetooth audio
from computers, laptops, etc to a FM receiver.

I'm not an expert on this but I believe their to be devices around which
take a signal from a bluetooth device such as an Iphone and will plug
into the line in of an audio system, speakers and so on, I've seen
reviews of them.

as for myself? Well I'm going to get a pair of dedicated bluetooth
speakers, not saying that one approach is better than the other but
that's what I'm doing.

As for needing sighted assistance to set up bluetooth devices? Well
that's a bit of a funny area really, I all the bluetooth devices I've
ever set up with my Iphone have been clearly identified by the phone so
I've just had to confirm them and - in some cases - type in a pairing
code on the Iphone which I've known in advance.

4. Arrow down to "play list editer" and make sure it is not checked. If

is, press enter on it.

Arrow to equalizer and make sure it is not checked. If it is press enter.

found an easy way to listen to distant places. I just recieved a tiny
flash thing called Musica? which is a device that you insert into your

added as you so wish. This little device cost me $20 bucks and it is no

Subject: Fwd: JAWS scripts for Skype 4.1 posted

From:Doug Lee d...@dlee.org
To: skypeengl...@emissives.com

Exciting news here, news I have been waiting to share for months! I
have a fair amount to say, so here's a summary: There is a new and
more accessible Skype 4.1 public beta out, and there are scripts to go
with it. I will first describe the Skype beta, then the scripts for
it.

Details:

We have a public beta of Skype 4.1, and there are accessibility
features in it! Accessibility is still an ongoing project, but as you
will see, some of the problems are fixed, and others are promised
before the next full Skype release.

Notes on Skype 4.1 itself:

Skype 4.1 beta contains accessibility improvements, including

- More items in tab order.

- More items with meaningful names.

- The Accessibility submenu of Tools again, with Extended Keyboard
Navigation under it.

As an example, you can now set mood text just by tabbing to the proper
control in the main Skype window, pressing Space, editing your text,
and pressing Enter.

In addition, I spot the following commitment in the Skype release
notes, which is a publicly accessible document: Under "Known Issues":

Voicemail and File transfer not accessible: this will be fixed for 4.1
Gold.

So although that is not fixed now, we finally have a promise from
Skype that it will be fixed when Skype 4.1, not beta, comes out.

You can get the beta either by going to http://www.skype.com, then
Download, then "Beta versions of Skype," or by going directly to the
following link:

http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windows/beta/

From that page, no matter how you got there, use the "Download Now"

link to get the program.

The technical info for this version, from that page:

Version 4.1.0.130 File size 22 MB. Beta release. Release date: May 27,
2009. File name: SkypeSetup-Beta.exe

One warning: After clicking "I agree Install button" in the
installer, another page will appear, probably silently, with a
checkbox asking permission to install Google Chrome. This is much
like the "Install the Google Toolbar" option we've seen in older
Skypes. It may default to checked, so I recommend tabbing around and
unchecking that box if you don't want Google Chrome, which is a
browser whose accessibility is unknown to me. The Skype installer
will remember your setting for that checkbox in future, but it's
always a good idea to watch for it.

Now, about the scripts:

There is a new script set posted at

http://www.dlee.org/skype/

for Skype 4.1 beta. It will probably also work with Skype 4.0, though
I have not tried that recently. I am calling this version 4.1a,
meaning the first Skype script release for Skype 4.1.

NOTE: I recommend restarting JAWS once after installing these
scripts, because the names of a number of global variables have
changed, and the old ones can only be cleared out of memory by a JAWS
restart..

The rest of this message will describe new features of the scripts.

First, user-visible changes:

A double JAWSKey+F1, the standard command for accessing JAWS
script help documents, will take you to an online page at my web site
describing how to use Skype 4.1 with the scripts. This feature is
long overdue, and though I'm sure the online documentation is in need
of updating, it is at least a central starting point, better than
having to fish for info among all the release notes for the various
Skype script releases.

F2, typed from within a conversation, will turn on and off JAWS'
announcement of timestamps with text messages, if you have enabled the
display of timestamps in Skype itself. This is similar to how F2
works in AIM. The virtual display of text messages will also be
affected.

Alt+Numpad5 will now say the position of the current message in
addition to its contents.

Users that sometimes heard nothing when backspacing in a text message
input box should now hear characters as usual. This script update
fixes a few possible causes of that problem.

JAWS 9 no longer beeps on arrows, SayLine, etc., in the History list.
The History list is also more appropriately named (perhaps not in
Braille though).

JAWS auto-announces questions like the one about holding the current call
to make a new one. Also, Ctrl+Shift+E deals with that window instead
of the Accounts panel when it applies. Controls in such a box can now
be reached with the Tab key, as Skype itself made this possible.

Double Ctrl+numbers no longer switch to the JAWS cursor and restrict it.
A double Ctrl+6 focuses the profile area, and it also works in more
windows.

If you leave the new Chrome menus in effect in Skype, the scripts will
try to make them speak. Turning these off is still recommended
though.

If you open th

CDex will do this and several other formats and is FREE to boot! So
will Goldwave and many others but the free one is probably what you want
and is very accessible and easy to use. CDex also ripps CDs and you can
save the tracks in several different file formats.

Subject: CD Ripping Software?

Hi. There was a time when I would have chosen Easy CD DA Extractor for
ripping Cds. But I'm not getting anywhere with version 11 much less
version 12, and I haven't received a response when seeking advice from
the
program's developer. I think now that I would prefer to move on to
another

program. With that in mind, what would you recommend for a ripper that
yields good results while getting along with a screen reader. I have
Window-eyes and System Access on board.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You need to download voicebox. You can get it from:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/pub/Main/VoiceHowto/voiceBox+.zip
After that, just read the documentation. Everything should become clear
after that.

Feel free to contact me on or off list.

Timothy,

Please tell me how I go about extracting the rockbox-sansae200-3.2.zip
file to the root of the player's drive. When I click on the filename on
my desktop, it opens to a Rockbox folder. When I click on that, it
simply opens up a list of files. What do I do with this list of files?

Thanks,

John

At 09:10 PM 4/13/2009, you wrote:

To my knowledge, the rockbox utility - rbutilrq - is not accessible to
VI users. I will be doing some testing on it later.

Since you use a Sansa E250, you need to download the following:
The rockbox firmware
http://download.rockbox.org/release/3.2/rockbox-sansae200-3.2.zip
The bootloader:
http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/sandisk-sansa/sansapatcher/win32/sansapatcher.exe
The voice file:
http://download.rockbox.org/release/3.2/sansae200-3.2-english.zip

After you have downloaded the above, do the following:
1. Make sure the hold switch is not on hold. Face the player so that
the

headphone jack is pointing away from you. The scrol wheel should be
closest to you. Move the switch on the left of the headphone jack to
the

left if it is not already there. Connect your mp3 player to your PC.

2. make sure you can access the player. This is to ensure that the
player is in MSC mode. It usually is already in MSC mode. To make sure,
disconnect the player, have a sited person turn on the player, go to
Settings --> USB Mode, and press select on MSC.

3. Extract the rockbox-sansae200-3.2.zip file to the root of the
player's drive.

4. Run the bootloader, and follow the instructions. It will first look
for your player. Then you press I for install, followed by the enter
key. After a few seconds, it will finish installing. It will say
"[INFO] Bootloader installed successfully.
Press ENTER to exit sansapatcher"
Press enter.

5. Extract the sansae200-3.2-english.zip file to the root of your
player's directory.

6. Disconnect the player, and it should come up talking. Make sure you
have headphones connected!

HTH,
Timothy

Hi Timothy,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I found a Sansa E250 with a 2gb micro SD
card for under $40. Since almost everything is accessible with
RockBox, I'll pick it up tomorrow morning. I already downloaded the
latest RockBox to install onto the Sansa. Anything I need to know to
help me make the installation go smoothly to get everything working
right? The reason why I ask, the file I downloaded ended up being
called rbutilqt-v1.2.zip. Do you know if this is the right file to
have downloaded?

Thank you,

John

I believe I was. I'm not sure on how to write the tutorial. I'm more

When you install rockbox on your Sansa E250 v1 mp3 player, everything
will be acessible except for the games, and the recording screen.
What

I mean by "accessible" is, that it will not speak.

The recording screen is completely usable. It just takes a tiny bit
of

memorization. I use it almost every week. It can record both from the
microphone and from the FM radio. The only thing you cannot control
with speech is the volume sliders on the record screen. You can,
however change the bitrate, format, an record source.

Hope that answers your question.

If you can ask me spesefic questions, I'd probably be able to write
up

a tutorial eventually. Just ask away!

Re: unlimited music downloads?

2004-09-11 Thread Kenbu
Be careful! I also joined a music/movie free download site and paid my I
think it was 40 bucks only to find that after I had done so, there was some
rather subtle warnings in their info icon that warned subtlety I said, that
they weren't responsible for this and that 'til it ended up that I read
between the lines realizing that they were covering their butts, re
copyright. I spent that money and will not, obviously, do the same thing re
committing myself again. Of cores, you'll have to be the judge of that
right? Cheers; Ken B
