I can sympathise. My wife and I replaced our system because she didn't like
wires. We got something smaller. We have now gone back to a similar arrangement
with BMW speakers because it sounds so good. Paul

wireless headset recommendations

2011-06-30 Thread Paul Porter
I am looking for a good quality wireless headset to both listen to the pc in
one ear and phone calls in the other. I have a splitter box into which you
plug in the phone and the pc.

Thanks

Re: total recorder 5.2 and skype

2005-05-31 Thread Paul Porter
I had the same problem. I found that by unchecking accelerated recording
mode in settings and restrictions in total recorder that skype now works.
This problem has only come to light with the latest version of total
recorder

new computer for audio editing

2005-04-30 Thread Paul Porter
I am looking to replace my existing pc with a new one. Would a new 64 bit
processor dramatically speed up the editing of audio using Soundforge and
goldwave compared to a 32 bit processor. I've been looking at Alienware. Does
anyone on the list have one of their machines?

external soundcards

2004-12-22 Thread Paul Porter
I bought a pcmcia Creative Labs audigy 2 but unfortunately it won't fit my Dell
Latitude D400. Can anyone recommend a suitable usb card. All I want to do is to
record from video recorders, play dvds through a surround sound Yamaha
amplifier. Someone mentioned a small creative unit but I couldn't find the
model number.

Thanks

external soundcard for a dell notebook

I am looking for advice on buying a suitable external card for a dell
Latitude d400. I want to be able to copy sound from videos but the
microphone socket provides poor quality recording. Can anyone suggest a
model or a better way to get sound from videos.

running vb script to make archos accessible

2004-06-28 Thread Paul Porter
i've downloaded and installed the rockbox software to make the Archos talk. There's
also a vb script called mp3ClipGen.vbs which when you run it creates names of folders
on the archos which are subsequently spoken. I've tried running the file but instead
of running it it opens in wordpad. I have tried the same file on another machine and
it works. I'm running xp home on the machine that works and xp pro on the machine that
doesn't. Can anyone help with this query.

Re: TV cards?

2004-06-27 Thread Paul Porter
For people in the UK there is either the pc card or usb box that will pick
up freeview and also audio description on the channels which carry it. The
software is a little tricky but is usable by using the JAWS cursor. You can
also record in mp2 or mpeg formats.
The card and box are available from
http://www.nebula-electronics.com/
and costs around £120.

converting mp2 to mp3

2004-05-02 Thread Paul Porter
I am looking for a utility to convert mp2 files to mp3. Soundforge 7 will do
this but you need to buy an extra plug-in.
