Hi. The stream companion which only runs on windows converts the stream's recordings into wav format, which you can then convert to mp3. Hi. I think express burn will do this. You could also use windows media player. Express burn has a limited free version but I think the limitation doesn't remove the functionality to burn audio cds with it. It's from nch software. Hi. They work. I've gotten lost in mine before. It doesn't really have menues it seams, it appears to just have one menu with options to switch to radio recorder or playback, or adjust some settings not sure what. It always seams if you get stuck you can keep on hitting the round select button in the middle until you hear something and go from there. If I streamed with the service I was paying 69 dollars a month for I could listen to music without buffering. Hi. The answer to this is http://freedownloadmanager.org free download manager. You can tell it to download all .mp3 files on the sipage by going to download all from the browser's context menu. If there was a programme that could be used to download all these files automatically, it would save me a lot of time and I could just get on with something else while 100 plus files are being saved and downloaded. I know that the 7 digital site has such a facility but think it only works with downloads from their site and I don't think it is very accessible. I don't use this site for music downloads really, mainly the stuff I like is usually in protected WMA and I can't be bothered with the hassle of defeating the DRM unless I have to so use other sites. . However the principle has been established that it is possible but I don't know if there is a programme that would work on any site and would work with any file format. Hi. If you're trying to use one with rockbox, go to http://rockbox.org and look for information on which players rockbox supports. You can choose to shuffle, repeat, or repeat all, as well as shuffle repeat, and I'm not sure what else. Crossfading and fade in and fade out are all options too. You can even make .talk clips painlessly with the voicebox utility. Basically, while your ipod is plugged into the pc, you open this utility up, set a few very simple options such as voice directories or voice file names, and set it if you want it to notify you when it has finished. Now you choose the drive that your ipod reprisents (for me it is g, but it can be anything). Now press enter on run, I think the button is called- and, using your default sapi 5 voice, it will convert the spelled out names you'd usually here (for example, dog would be d, o, g, very annoying), to full speech. Of course if you don't have sapi 5 this might be an issue, however, I personally would use e speech. It is free and it doesn't sound half bad and, most of all, it can be quite quick if you have long file names. Tunebite is another programme like Sound Taxi for decoding DRM encoded music files. If I have time in the next day or so then I'll have another search to see where I got it and let you know or you can do a google search for switch music converter. I believe that if you have to use two jacks like that with that setup, probably your issue is getting your sound card to realize that the left channel is plugged into one jack on the sound card and the right is in another. Hi. It usually works by itself. Just plug in the device and eloquence will switch to the external device. Unplug it and jaws will switch back to the internal soundcard. It doesn't always work like this though. In those cases restarting the screen reader will help. Sometimes unplugging the device while software is using it to play audio causes that software to crash, jaws included (sometimes). It works ok though, and USB headphones seam to do the same thing, mine do anyway, act as an audio class device. Hi. Just so you know, the zen stone is not an ipod. The ipod is an mp3 player. The zen stone is also an mp3 player. Yes, the zen stone seams to be workable. I got stuck once but I think if you hit select a whole bunch you'll eventually find yourself back in the file player portion and you can get back to where ever you wanted to go from there. Question though, how do you record? Also, my fm radio sucks in this area, I mean really really bad. It only picks up one station and that stations, amazingly enough, isn't as local as another station which doesn't pick up hardly at all, not even when I'm in town which is where the station broadcasts from, strange. From home we can hear it but the static is really bad. Any crazy things that can be done to help one of these things pick up signal? P.S. , I found out that you can see your battery status by installing creative media light, it tells you on the status line at the end what your battery is. Also, you can indeed copy music files onto it with windows explorer. The only requirement of something else to do the job is for drm protected digital media. Tab to the mute checkbox and hit space to uncheck that, unmuting the microphone, enabling it to work like monitor mode over the sound card. Warning! Put headphones on or turn your speakers wa down when you do this. If you tap on your our microphone you'll hear it coming back simultaneously through the speakers. Now when you record it should work fine. To adjust how loud the recording through the microphone is when you do what you hear, adjust the volume of the microphone from the playback volume page that I just described how to get to. Re: sound card issue
Hi. The issue is probably that you need to have the microphone loopback enabled. What you hear records what is being plaid over the sound card. The microphone isn't being plaid over the sound card, so it doesn't get recorded when you do this. To get the microphone to play what it is picking up over the sound card as monitor mode, go to run and type sndvol32 and hit enter. now that you're in the volume control hit alt+p for properties. Press tab and hit down arrow till you hear adjust volume for playback. Tab till you land in a control that lets you select which devices you can opt to be able to adjust. They'll be like sw synth checked, pc beep checked, midi checked, cd player checked, phone checked, etc, and one of these is microphone or microphone/line in, make sure the one for microphone is checked. Press enter. Shift+tab till you hear microphone volume up down slider. Adjust it till you think it's right. Tab to the mute checkbox and hit space to uncheck that, unmuting the microphone, enabling it to work like monitor mode over the sound card. Warning! Put headphones on or turn your speakers wa down when you do this. If you tap on your our microphone you'll hear it coming back simultaneously through the speakers. Now when you record it should work fine. To adjust how loud the recording through the microphone is when you do what you hear, adjust the volume of the microphone from the playback volume page that I just described how to get to. The ds30, 256mb capacity, is about 120 dollars. the ds50, 1gb, just tops 200 dollars. Mine is the ds30. I have filled it up, but all I had to do was move files from it onto a pc to free up space. You can record for respectible amount of time with the ds30 on highest quality 192k. The ds series have speaking menus and are relatively quick and easy to use and flashy looking and feeling. The ds series have a stereo microphone that ataches to the top of the recorder. This stereo microphone can be removd and it will switch to an internal mono microphone that does a better job of picking up various frequencies but, being mono, doesn't give you stereo recordings. It has a decently low floor noise. It's not the best recorder around, one issue I have with mine is when I'm using the stereo microphone it tends to be a little loose in the jack and rattles and makes lots of noise in the recording even if i'm being careful to handle the recorder quietly while recording. Gold Wave causes video problems?
Hi. I'm having problems with gold wave. When I run it, it causes dinging noises to be played when I play a sound. I'm using jaws 9.0. I have the scripts 1.56 or something like that. They have support for zoom level which doesn't seam to work very well. They are very sluggish and always want to say no file is selected when I do something like copy the selection, or say no sound in clipboard when I go to paste, when there actually was a sound. In addition gold wave's text interfeers with all other open programs when gold wave is running and after I close it until I close jaws. Also it seams to be messing up edit fields like the subject edit field in outlook express aven after that until a reboot, across multiple jaws restarts. It is very close to impossible to use gold wave on this xp laptop, and the same seams to be happening even without the scripts or with jaws8 running. Any ideas? Re: Sansa E250 seems to have been completely corrupted
Hi. Is it just the sansa's firmware or do they have rockbox installed. Anyway, it is possible that the sansa itself is the other program that's using the files. You may be able to fix the corruption problem by resetting the sansa. I'm not sure how to do that. It's something tricky like hold down the record button whilst you turn the thing off then back on but that's likely not exactly right. I had one of those for like a week. You'll loose everything stored on the sansa at least by doing the reset I'm talking about which is the point. Maybe the sansa would call it formatting it. Hi. When I bought my alienware laptop a few months back they sent me some ear buds with it that sound really really good. The best thing is these ear buds have a microphone built in, and it works really well too. It's just a small plastic shape at the point where the wire splits to go to each ear. The microphone is there and in the same egg shaped contraption there you get the volume control and a switch to turn off the microphone. It has two standard 1.5mm regular old headphone jacks, one for the headphones jack and the other for the microphone. I couldn't use it unfortunately since I use hearing aids and those things just aren't friendly with hearing aids. I briefly looked at the catalogue displayed by my local computer store on the net http://www.istore.com.au and looked at the Creative brand, there's no shortage of sound devices there it would seem but which one to buy? Should I in fact steer clear of Creative completely and go for something else? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. As a footnote to this, my Trashbox is approaching its fifth birthday so I'm wanting something which will be compatible with my current Trashbox and will be compatible with a new Trashbox which I plan to purchase in about 6 months all being well. Of course! if the device should be compatible with the Mac then that's a bonus but that's something that I don't class as a priority.
