If I understand you correctly region issues apply with the format of DVD's
These are music CD's so should not apply. they were purchased in the UK from
a UK branch of a US Company.

They have been played many times but always in audio cd players not
connected to a computer. Such as my stereo system in the living room, Sony
discman before it died of over use, car CD players of my wife and 2 sons.
Also in 4 or 5 assorted portable players I have or have had in the house.
As I've said these will play in anything that is not a computer. They are
a collection of Time Life music albums called Classic Jazz. Original
commercial dices purchased from Time Life.

Hello Michael

I don't think this is the answer as I've had these discs for 12/15 years
and during that time had at least 4 CD drives plus the 2 my wife has had
and none of them have ever played these discs.

Hello! I have had this problem before, and it all had to do with the

could not be read, so I could not rip any tracks from them. Now I'm
using

a Dell. Recently I tried to rip tracks from the problematic CDS, and was
successful in doing so. Just sharing with you my experience. It may be
something this simple. In my case, if the CD doesn't play using

Good Morning

A while ago I decided to scrap all my music CD’s and store them onto my
computer. I now play music either from my PC or via various portable
players. I no longer posses a disc Walkman and very few CD players,
relying mostly on my PC. I never share any of my music it’s entirely for
my own enjoyment.

As I’m a jazz fan my wife, a few years ago, bought me a collection from
Time Life of 12 double disc album called Classic Jazz. They are wonderful
and a joy to play but, unfortunately, can not be played in the PC. This
just will not recognise them which means I cannot move them into the PC
memory with the other music. I have always thought this was because of
some DRM protection but I tried again today and I'm wondering it it’s for
another reason. I wonder if i’s because of the format or type of sic
used.

would this be possible? If so does anyone have any ideas as to how I can
overcome it, please?

Many thanks Roger

Well try this program and see what it tells you, it might be instructive
and the program is free. It does the best I have seen for ripping cds.
It is called exact audio copy.

I don't know the program you mention but I've tried several others, CDEex,
Express Rip, Goldwave, SoundTaxi and dPover to name a few and apart from my
PC not recognising I have a CD in the drive it will not accept the disc
exists when I try to add it in the program. My personal opinion is the discs
are of a type the computer will not work with and not just mine as I've
tried them in my wife's and both my sons' machines all to the same results.

Hello Michael

I don't think this is the answer as I've had these discs for 12/15 years and
during that time had at least 4 CD drives plus the 2 my wife has had and
none of them have ever played these discs.

Hello! I have had this problem before, and it all had to do with the type
of CD drive I was using. When I used my HP laptop, several CDS simply could
not be read, so I could not rip any tracks from them. Now I'm using a Dell.
Recently I tried to rip tracks from the problematic CDS, and was successful
in doing so. Just sharing with you my experience. It may be something this
simple. In my case, if the CD doesn't play using anything, then I cannot
rip any songs from it. I always attempt to play it first. I hope this
helps!

Good Morning

A while ago I decided to scrap all my music CD’s and store them onto my
computer. I now play music either from my PC or via various portable
players. I no longer posses a disc Walkman and very few CD players, relying
mostly on my PC. I never share any of my music it’s entirely for my own
enjoyment.

As I’m a jazz fan my wife, a few years ago, bought me a collection from Time
Life of 12 double disc album called Classic Jazz. They are wonderful and a
joy to play but, unfortunately, can not be played in the PC. This just will
not recognise them which means I cannot move them into the PC memory with
the other music. I have always thought this was because of some DRM
protection but I tried again today and I'm wondering it it’s for another
reason. I wonder if i’s because of the format or type of sic used.

would this be possible? If so does anyone have any ideas as to how I can
overcome it, please?

Many thanks Roger

I assume you are asking what format they are. As I've never been able to get
my PC to recognise them I don't know but as they are commercially purchased
music CDs I guess they are cda.

But before you buy it, you can adjust the output values for replay gain, and
total gain of the output files. Look at that first.

Now I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but I still have a

If you don't solve this problem, courier the discs to me, and I'll send them
back with copies in flak format or the format of your choice.

RE: a cd problem

2014-11-28 Thread frank cuta
Hi Joe,

Boy its good to see that name! I remember when we used to talk microphones
on the phone even before the Playback years.

Note: I see that I have this folder sorted by size instead of receive date
so I accidently pulled up a question that you had back in June. I do not
care, I am going to take a stab at it anyways!

Addressing your problem 3 things come to mind. On your computer you can
produce both mp 3 and wav recorded CDs. The mp3 will often play on a newer
boom box but not on an older juke box or CD player.

Second, some recorders and players are picky about the brand of blank CD.
Just try a different brand.

Third, some players are picky about digitall errors. You can reduce the
error rate by going into settings in your CD burner software and turning
down the recording rate. (slower is better)

Take care,
Frank Cuta

 Hi, All,

I recently started using a laptop to burn cd's. They play perfectly in a
blue ray player and in a very cheap cd player. They won't play in my Sony
Jukebox.

I will very much appreciate your thoughts. Hopefully there's a remedy.

Hello, and thanks for your thoughts.

I'm not using rewritable disks. In any case these disks play on other
machines so we can know for certain that they are finalized.

Hi Vicki, I don't think you should have a problem with rewritable CD with
your plextalk machine. I didn't know you could still buy the Cd recorders
from Plextalk!

Yes, I know what you mean. The original Plextalk worked like that.

Remember that my disks will play on other machines. I'm beginning to think that
I should try a different brand of disks. More than one person told me that they

Do I recall correctly that some stand-alone players at one time required

a cd problem

2014-06-23 Thread Joe Giovanelli
 Hi, All,

I recently started using a laptop to burn cd's. They play perfectly in a blue
ray player and in a very cheap cd player. They won't play in my Sony Jukebox.

I will very much appreciate your thoughts. Hopefully there's a remedy.

Hi John

Been so long since I input all my vinyl and cassettes to the PC I'd
forgotten all about it. But of course it's the obvious answer. Many thanks
for pointing out the simple answer to me.

Hi,

It does sound like some kind of protection system. I'm not sure what method
of protection would give this but I'm guessing it may be something called
multi-session disc.

I wouldn't know how to brake this protection but you could use a regular cd
player with a sound card to record the tracks as wave or mp3 to your pc by
connecting the output of your cd player to the input of your sound card and
use an audio recorder program like audasity or sound forge.

Hello

A few years ago I purchased a set of 12 double disc albums called
ClassicJazz from Time Life. I’ve played them often on a CD player in the
room I keep my PC. That has now been removed and all music is played on my
pC with the surround sound it’s hooked into. I decided to load all my
music onto an external hard drive and get rid of the discs. I found these
jazz discs will not load into the PC player. Going to My Computer the CD
drive shows as empty. The same is true of my wife’s laptop and my son’s PC
and laptop but any player except one connected to a computer will play
them with no problems. I’ve contacted Time Life and find the UK site no
longer exists. Therefore I dealt with the US Company. The ClassicJazz
series is no longer sold. I received a response to my email asking me to
phone them. I replied saying I’m located in the Uk and have heard no more
from them.

I seem to remember Sony brought out an anti copying method which sound
like what I’m experiencing here. I seem to also remember it was said you
could break this protection by rubbing a felt tip pen round the edge of
the disc. I’ve tried this to no avail. I could bring back a CD player into
this room and fit it into the sound system just to play this one set of
discs but I’d much rather have them all on my hard drive. Has anyone any
ideas to help me, please?

Many thanks Roger

easy cd problem

2006-09-25 Thread Denny Daughters
Hi guys,
Sorry about the cross post. Lately I've tried to have Easy Cd creator 5
merge 2 tracks in to 1 file. It used to work fine. Now it will do a minute or
2 of the first track, then stop. When I tell the program to do each individual
track in a batch, and save each track to it's own file, it works fine. I have
the check button checked that says, "merge tracks to one file" I'd like to
merge 2 tracks in to one file and resplit them at a slightly different point.
When I put 2 single tracks in to a sound editor, it doesn't merge correctly.
Any suggestions?
Denny

Very interesting CD problem

2006-09-24 Thread Jed Barton
Hey guys.
OK, I have a celeron 2.4 ghz machine with 2 gigs of ram, and an sb live
sound card, but a very strange problem is happening.
I put an audio CD in.
I can play it, however, I press B to go through the tracks, and wanted to go
from track 1 to 9.
It took about 45 seconds to get there, and these are 2 to 3 minute songs I'm
scanning through.
Any ideas?
It should never ever take that long to advance through a CD.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jed
