Hi Deb. Have you by any chance installed some software since the last
time you listened to those .asx streams. I'm asking because the same
thing happened to me when I installed Winamp 5.1. Logically, as a
couple of list members pointed out when I mentioned the problem, with
.asx files on my computer directed to associate with WMP, there
shouldn't be any connection to the Winamp install. However, when I
uninstalled Winamp 5.1 and reinstalled Winamp 5.093, .asx files began
to play again just fine through WMP. Just thought I'd pass it along
in case your dealing with something similar.
Meanwhile, with the link in focus, try doing a save target as from
the audio file to your desktop. Then press enter on the resulting
file. For me, that was a workaround while I figured out what was going on.

Hi:
I am using WMP10 and there are some .asx segments I need to listen
to. First of all, When I click on the link I am prompted to download
and I get a message which tells me that my default player can't open
the file. I was able to do this last week. I also have the problem
on audible.com. When I want to listen to a sample book, I'm prompted
to download the link that points to the file; it won't play when I
click on the link, again the download prompt starts. Do you think it
might help to go back to an older version of WMP?I'm sorry if this
doesn't make sense, but if someone could help, I'd really appreciate
it. Thanks, Deb.
