There is a program from Slysoft called AnyDVD which will do as you want.
It works with CD and DVD.

I have put my collection of music on CD’s onto my PC now and given the CD’s
to a local charity shop for what they can get for them. I have a set of
Jazz recordings I purchased from Time-Life I cannot do this with as they
are encrypted. Does anyone know how I can overcome this. I don’t want to
pass on the copies so it will not infringe the copyright law just that it’s
easier to have them on my PC to play.

RE: Copy Protected CD's

2005-03-30 Thread Caroline Ford
Thanks to all those who have replied to my query about two un-rippable CD's.
I now have a few options to try. Has anyone actually tried running a pencil
round the edge of a copy protected CD? I'd heard this tip before but have
never been brave enough to try it myself.

Thanks,

Caroline.

Hi!
Try to run the AnyDVD drvier from
http://www.slysoft.com
When this driver is loaded all trafic between CD/DVD drives and software
pass thru this driver and copyprotection from both CD's and DVD's should be
removed. It will also make a DVD region code free. Maybe the driver will
give you access to your CD. AnyDVD works with all CD/DVD software.

How could Easy CD-DA Extracter help me with the CD which cannot even be
seen by Windows? It would be great if it could, but I'm not sure how it
would be able to assist in this case. Perhaps for the CD where I'm
getting stuck with CDex on track 7, it might be worth looking for
another program, so I might give it a try for that one at least.
Thanks,

Subject: Copy Protected CD's

Hello,
I have two CD's which I am trying to rip to MP3 using CDex. I have
successfully ripped around twenty CD's, but two in particular will not
rip.
When I insert one of the CD's into either my DVD-ROM or CDRW drive, it

is not recognised by Windows or CDex, so I am unable to rip it. When
I
insert
the other CD into my CDRW drive, the drive whirs as if it is trying to

access the disk for around two minutes before giving up. If I put the
same
CD into my DVD-ROM drive, the disk can be read with Windows and CDex,
but
I
am only able to rip six of the 13 tracks using CDex. When CDex
reaches track 7, it estimates the time the ripping to MP3 is likely to

take, but this estimate goes up and up the longer I leave the disk in
the drive, eventually reaching something ridiculous like 50 minutes,
at which time I give up and press the Cancel button. Tracks 8-13 will

not rip either.
Both
CD's play fine in my hi-fi's CD player.
Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to enable me to rip
these CD's. I'm wondering if they're using some kind of copy
protection,
although
there is nothing to indicate this on the CD cases. Either that or
there could be a problem with the CD's which my hi-fi player is able
to ignore
but
which the drives on the PC are sensitive enough to notice. Both CD's
are around two years old if this makes any difference.
Thanks for any theories/suggestions.
Caroline.
