Re: Question for Audacity users
Hi Larry, The suggestions were not Jaws specific. Although Audacity is not completely accessible, a large part of it can be used with Jaws, Window-Eyes, and NVDA. I'm not sure about system access, and I don't think it's as accessible using voiceover at the moment. Regarding applying an effect to a single track. Since posting my reply, I've realiized that there's something else that might be the problem. In audacity, to select audio, you have to select one or more tracks, and also a time range. However, there's an option, select all audio in project if none selected, and by default this is on. So if you've selected a single track, but no time range, then when you apply an effect it will automatically select all tracks and a time range which covers all the audio, and then apply the effect to everything. The best thing to do is to disable this option. In the preferences dialog, it's under the tracks category (see the selecting audio section of the jaws guide for more details about this option). To select the audio in a single track, prior to applying an effect: 1. Set the track to be selected, and the others unselected. 2. To select a time range with covers the audio in the selected track, press the letter j to move the cursor to the start of audio in the selected track, and then shift+k to select a time range up until the end of the audio in the selected track. (pressing k on its own moves the cursor to the end of the audio in the selected track or tracks). See the moving the cursor and selecting audio sections of the jaws guide for more details. David. original message: Hi David. Thanks very much for your suggestion. One additional question though. Are these suggestions specific to Jaws? I have Window-Eyes, System Access and of course, for the Mac, Voiceover. Whether or not your suggestions are Jaws specific, I'll take a look at the link you suggested. Thanks very much. Hi David. Re: Question for Audacity users
Hi Larry, I presume that you're using a recent version of Audacity (latest version is 1.3.12). If a track is the focus, then pressing enter toggles whether that track is selected or not, but it has no effect on whether the other tracks are selected. So if if you want only one track to be selected, you need to go through the other the other tracks and set them to be not selected if necessary. You may find the keystroke ctrl+shift+a helpful, as this sets all tracks (and any selected time range) to unselected. There's a Jaws guide to audacity at http://bit.ly/axYol6 which you may find of some help, David. original message: Hi. According to an Audacity demo that I found on BlindCoolTech, my impression is that if you wish to select one specific track, you make sure that it is in focus and press enter on it. However, when I do that, all tracks are selected, effectively blocking me from working with one of the tracks only. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? It's not an accessibility issue, because the guy doing the demo was blind and using a Mac. So it's me and I'd like to find out what I'm doing wrong. Question for Audacity users
Hi. My problem occurs when I want to apply effects to one specific track from those that I have opened and imported. It happens whether using the Mac or windows version of Audacity.
