Re: Digitizing Tape without Hearing Sound

2009-02-23 Thread Samuel Wilkins
That's what's happening with me. I could set the screen reader to play
through my second sound card, but I would have to turn Window-Eyes up
because my speakers are connected to both sound cards.

I tried muting Line IN in playback controls but it ended up not playing

use
that because it doesn't pick up Window-Eyes.

I suspect you are using Windows xp or earlier. Go into the properties
of
your sound card and choose play. In that dialog, you may find options
to
check or uncheck what channels play. Make sure line in is unchecked.
Also,
in the recording properties, make sure line in is checked, not
anything

called What you Hear or Mixer.

I often digitize tapes using Goldwave, in both Xp and Vista, and never
hear
the tape playing, so the problem can be solved.

Why not get an enexpensive set of speakers for the second card to use for

I suspect you are using Windows xp or earlier. Go into the properties of
your sound card and choose play. In that dialog, you may find options
 to
check or uncheck what channels play. Make sure line in is unchecked.
 Also,
in the recording properties, make sure line in is checked, not anything
called What you Hear or Mixer.

I often digitize tapes using Goldwave, in both Xp and Vista, and never
 hear
the tape playing, so the problem can be solved.

I am trying to digitize 4 cassette tapes. However, I have to sit and
 listen
to it while this is happening. This is very annoying, especially if I'm
trying to get on with work. Is there a way to digitize the tape without
having to listen to it? I am using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS, Goldwave

and the cassette machine is plugged into the line-in on my soundcard.
