Hello!
I am sorry for this late answer.
I was going thorough my mails and just saw this.
You can check out www.izotope.com.
Or try searching for izotope vinyl.
I had it installed here.
Its a directx plugin i use with goldwave.
It has some pre-sets.
But i really can not do any settings by myself so i have to use those 
pre-sets.

The winamp plugin is absolutely useless for the blind. I played with it, and 
couldn't get the OK button to make the preset you choose stick. It is almost 
all graphics in that program besides the scroll arrow for the preset box.

It might take a little creative experimenting but if you can't find the
sound by googling it, you might try crinkling various types of cellophane

GRIN Seriously, though, yes there's a reason. I love putting gags together
for my radio show and for friends, so the ability to create this effect
would come in handy if I needed to do a gag where a modern recording was
meant to sound old. Just part of the creative process, or at least my
feeble-minded version of the creative process.

How about recording the 3 or 4 seconds of sound between songs on an old
record and duplicating it several times?

It might take a little creative experimenting but if you can't find the
sound by googling it, you might try crinkling various types of cellophane
and dubbing the sound over the recording you want to modify.

I wouldn't have asked if there wasn't a reason I wanted it, would I? 
GRIN Seriously, though, yes there's a reason. I love putting gags 
together for my radio show and for friends, so the ability to create this 
effect would come in handy if I needed to do a gag where a modern 
recording was meant to sound old. Just part of the creative process, or at 
least my feeble-minded version of the creative process.
